Great vid Max! But hey - do you think you could do a comparison video of a few different Macs again? I'm specifically thinking of the MacBook Pro 14-inch binned 30-core M2 Max vs the 14-inch 38-core M2 Max. I'd like to see a vid on that because I recently got the 14-inch binned M2 Max, but I saw no thermal throttling even when I imitated tough tests that you guys did, so I'm wondering if, for the 14-inch, the binned GPU is actually better because it won't throttle under load? Anyway I'd really like to see that comparison. Thanks!
The reason why a lot of people are buying the 10 is because it does not have PWM or temporal dithering which is on the pro series and related to dizzinessm, headaches and eye strain. I don't know why more reviewers dont talk about this but i guess its a money thing.
Thicker is not an issue I got this ipad coming from ipad 6 I’m happy it works with my apple pencil cuz I can’t get new one Magic Keyboard is too expensive for someone getting this ipad and the thinness is very thin for me I’m not used to it that’s not a problem
Yeah I knew rhis was gonna happen. UA-camrs who make a shit Ton of money or get sent out products for free will never have the same reality as regular people. iPad 10 is legit the most basic iPad possible, and that is what most people need
I agree. Just bought this for my mum who's changing from an iPad air 2 from ages ago. She's not going to complain about any of those things mentioned. The only thing I agree with these reviewers is that Apple could've priced it cheaper.
The reason the reviewers say not to buy it revolves around themselves though. Video editing, photo editing, Apple pencil, camera. Everything that you cover is about content creation when most just wanna browse UA-cam and bitch at each other about politics on social media.
I think Apple knows most who buy this iPad aren’t buying the keyboard or pencil so the camera placement is much more important to buyers of this device.
Yeah Ihave the ipad 9 and even if it supported the 2nd gen apple pencil I wouldn’t buy it. I only use my ipad for content consumption and browsing the web so I don’t need the keyboard or the pencil.
I dont even use apple keyboard and pencil, use ipad 10 for zoom and content consumption or reading some book, and playing some games and so far its pretty good, and i never used apple product before..
I feel like this iPad is for ppl who really don’t care about the technicalities of other iPads. I own one and most of the issues mentioned can be fixed with third party products. I use a matte screen protector for the glare, a third party pencil, and a regular Bluetooth keyboard.
It’s fast enough, I don’t use a stylus and I only use the USB port for charging. On the other hand, the camera position is a HUGE improvement that doesn’t (yet) exist on any other iPad and topped by the decent stereo speakers, make this iPad the best tablet for my needs, and I think that many others agree with me.
Yes- most people expect it to have much more features, but its only the baseline iPad. I think its a very good value and a great device. I rarely use my Apple Pencil so it doesnt bother me. And I have a Logitech combo touch which is an amazing keyboard
The lack of stereo land scape speakers on the 9 and lower is probably the most detrimental. Ive has a samsung s20 for a while now and thank god the days of off-side audio are gone. I recently picked up the ipad 9th and was reminded how bad having the speakers on one edge stunk. I don't consume media on my portables generally but for something we have been solving over 3 years ago, its sad it took this long for the ipads to follow up.
I bought the 10th gen iPad for my wife. She loves it! She does not use the pencil and charges the unit at night. Battery life was an important benefit for her. She also likes the new magic keyboard with a touch pad in the middle. She does not object to any screen glare. It was the perfect computer for her.
When it comes to the battery life, I have an iPad Air 5 since its release and it used to be a real issue, but with iPadOS 16.5 and 16.6 Beta it has increased by a lot! Today, I used 16 % for 4 50 minutes classes where I used to consume about 10 % for each of them, so it’s less of an issue now. Another thing is I am writing this at the end of a 17 hours day in which I use my iPad a lot, it currently is at 43%, even with a a Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil paired
Considering ios ram requirements have not ballooned like we see on android phones (8gb, 12gb??) I think the software programmers are fucking magicians.
I’m a chef. This iPad is perfect for me. Odd pencil charger is fine. Recipes/photos. Making prep lists is primarily what I use for. Use it everyday all day. Battery life is good
It’s tempting to look at the iPad 10 through the wrong end of the telescope. It’s easy to compare it to the iPad Air 4/5 and grumble about how it’s inferior and doesn’t hold up, regards feature set or pricing. But we should remember the insane value proposition it offers, especially in the USA. I picked one up for work (£499.99) as I didn’t want to spend too much but the cheaper Gen 9 model was dated and showing it’s age. I have to say, looking back from the 10 to the 9, it’s a tremendous update. Yes, the screen is not as matte, bright or as smooth as my iPad Pro. I know I can’t slap on an Magic Keyboard or use a V2 pencil with it but it doesn’t matter. If you’re budget minded amd need those things Logitech has you covered and their superb folio keyboards and usb-c crayons go on sale all the time. For the times I’ve had to use it at work, the iPad 10 absolutely devours all tasks because it’s an extremely capable iPad; it surfs, streams, plays games and does productivity really well and is built (unlike the flexible/warping Air 5 LCD) like a tank. If I put on my nerd glasses, I can see all the differences between the 10 and the Air/Pro but I really don’t feel them in use at all. In fact all I can think is, man this is such an amazing upgrade over the iPad Air 2 it’s replacing and will last me for years and years to come 📱👍
Exactly! Most things other models do “better” aren’t really noticeable… especially if it’s being used for “casual” things like notetaking, UA-cam, and surfing the web
@@propyli 100%! I use it for gaming, editing, and much more and not even half of my storage is full. People always say “64gb isn’t anything for editing or drawing” but in reality it’s plenty.
@@Kietraudt Thank you very much. Most people advised me to buy an iPad 9 with 256GB memory. But I want an iPad 10 because it looks modern and beautiful, but I was a little confused about the memory!
they know 64 is too little but want to upsell you for the most $. So instead of the logical 128gb they make you select the more expensive 256. it sucks as I was hoping for 128gb
Yeah I got my 8th gen a few years ago and got the 128gb version. It’s future proofed it but now I’m noticing ram issues with only 3gb issues. Lots of apps and websites have to reload. Annoying.
I guess it depends what you do with it. I've had an iPad 8 with 32GB for two years and still have plenty of free storage left, probably because don't do games or media on it.
@@jbar_85I have an iPad 8th gen with 128GB of storage. Works fine for me, got it recently, it is refurbished. I shall keep it for a while, and pass it down to my friend. Afterwards of which I may upgrade to the 10th gen iPad.
Purchased mine (in 2024) as a Prime Day deal for $290. I couldn’t be happier! Does everything I need it to. I use a knock off pencil that can charge via usb-c.
To be completely honest, the issues with the iPad 10 are basically nitpicked. Yeah the laminated screen could bug some but it does not affect the iPad overall. Good thing is that apple gave us a USB-C Apple Pencil for the 10th gen iPad, although you charge it wired, it’s not too big of a deal. I use my iPad for school when I don’t need to use my MacBook Pro. Overall it’s smooth, clean looking and gets the job done if you don’t need your iPad to do a lot of extra work.
Idk, at the time when it was priced above $400, I think getting a refurb iPad Air 4 from Apple was a much better buy because it’s the same device without all the drawbacks. Laminated display, the better Apple Pencil and keyboard, the chip isn’t underclocked, the cameras and speakers are better, and I think it used faster storage as well
Just think when the new iPads come out and they lower this iPad by $49 it will become a steal of a deal considering that 72% of iPad purchases are to customers who have never owned an iPad before this. iPad is perfect for them.
I want to add that you can charge your Apple Pencil 1 with your iPhone. It does look ridiculous but it works and is better than the cable adapter situation, especially if you’re on the go since most likely you will take your iPhone with you
I got mine on offer for £375 so I treated myself with the new pencil usb-c a couple of days ago. It’s my first iPad and I’m blown away. Excellent quality, I’ve got the pink one and it’s so unique. My kids are taking turns using it with the pencil to play their games. I’d highly recommend.
I'm gonna get this exact iPad tomorrow morning and I'm so excited! In Dubai, this iPad costs AED 1849, or roughly 500 dollars. Through a lot of negotiating I managed to get this for AED 1100 or 299 dollars! Can't wait to get it tomorrow!
The iPad 10 is the perfect iPad for someone like me. I use it exclusively for reading, surfing the Net, watching videos and not for anything heavy or serious like programming or content creation. ( which means I have absolutely no use for the Apple keyboard or pencil ) I love listening to music so Bluetooth 5.2 is really an advantage over the iPad Air 5’s 5.0. One might think, hey, can’t other tablets do the same thing? Of course! But the fact that I’m already in the Apple-verse makes it a natural choice. I use AirDrop all the time and my AirPods connect seamlessly between my devices ( I have a MacBook Pro for serious work and an iPhone for communication ) So like I said, a no-brained choice. 😂
@@tendeesherpa3836 the back camera’s pretty good! Super clear and high def. Only downside is the huge size. As the front, it’s good enough for selfies and you look great on Zoom meetings. Couldn’t ask for anything more. ( ok, maybe a less reflective screen would have been great )
@@kamenrider2892 I got the 64Gb coz I dun have many apps on it and I hardly play any games. For extra space, I have an external 1TB SSD which I use to move all my rarely used files( which includes pictures ) and also books which I hardly read. ( or have finished reading ) The existence of the USB C port makes transferring files really super convenient and effortless.
0:09 of course people are gonna buy it, It’s a very good iPad for its value and the reason no one listens to reviewers is because they are biased and don’t know the future and they always have to say something bad but ngl the pencil thing on iPad 10 generation isn’t even a problem
7:52 This is such a nonsense argument that I see people make all the time. No, the iPad Air isn’t “might as well, I’m gonna pay that much for more storage anyway”. Every storage upgrade costs ~$100, give or take, depending on the device you’re buying. Getting a device the next tier up costs a few hundred bucks. These are separate costs, if you need storage but don’t need top specs you buy the storage and not the top specs. I bought an iPad Air M1, 256gb, for $650 with an Amazon sale a couple months ago. An iPad Air M2 with 256gb would be $850 on that same sale because higher-end devices go on shallower discounts. I saved $200 because I did not want a 120hz display, and face ID/better speakers I would rarely use were not worth $200, plus the iPad Air has a few niche advantages over the Pro that I’ve come to appreciate.
I absolutely have no issues with my iPad 10 or the folio with keyboard that came with it. The issues he pointed out are completely false and baseless. It works for me well and I’m sure others too!!
He's suppose to be biased to annoy people, and trigger people to comment on his videos - which equates more views and attentions. Most tubers do this to get sponsors. Make a living. It's the art of BS.
I bought my Pink iPad 10 a year ago and I still love it battery life is great I play my games on it with no problems at all. I bought the usb-c pencil yesterday and so far so good 🥰🥰
Honestly the only thing youtubers complained about was the pencil and then they just kept saying bad stuff about a really good ipad. And how they say they hate the 1st gen apple pencil then start recomending ipad 9 which only has 1st gen pencil support is stupid. I got this ipad mainly cus i share the same birthday with it but the ipad is still really good and much faster than the ipad 9 which people say is only like 0.1 seconds faster but it is more of a 10 second difference
This is my first mainstream apple product (loved their airport line. still sad they discontinued it a long time ago). Reason being that it uses USB C. If this had lightning, it would've been a hard pass for me even if I knew it would have better battery life, support, and durability than its android counterparts. I don't want to have a special charger and a special cable just so I could have a tablet/secondary monitor for my laptop. Now we wait for Airpods with USB C.
I love this iPad it works for me after my 6 gen shattered . I didn’t have to get a new pencil which is crazy expensive where am at . One of the best purchases I’ve ever made is I had to say
I got the iPad 10 and I already had a 1st gen Pencil, and I honestly prefer the charging on this iPad than the others. I know it’s slightly less convenient but you get to rest the Pencil down somewhere when charging it instead of having it poking out the side ready to stab someone that walks past.
I knew it was gonna sell well, just because it doesn’t meet tech people requirements doesn’t mean the average person isn’t gonna like it. I ended up getting my sister one and she loves it, she upgraded from a 6th gen so it was well overdue. Personally for myself I wouldn’t get it but I ended up getting the Air 5 and upgraded from a 2017 iPad Pro.
thats interesting. I still have an 10.5 iPad Pro. Is an Air5 really an upgrade to it? Promotion etc? Have you tried your sisters "normal" ipad, is the non laminated display noticeably? I was looking to upgrade an old ipad air 2 for family aswell and looking at the new "ipad". so the display thing would really interest me.
@@OKF_Max Promotion isn’t really a dealbreaker for me. And I’ve have used her iPad and yes I notice the non laminated display but it not really a dealbreaker either
I don’t care about the extras I got the iPad 10 as a stand alone media device for watching UA-cam, Netflix etc as well as remote playing video games when I’m on the go or traveling.
I am from India and recently I purchased it for ₹30000 which is around $359. I Pad air is not so cheap in India. So I think it was a good purchase and I don't lament for the processing speed because I would mostly read and take notes. I really appreciate the USBC charging port because need to carry just one adapter and cable now.
i have this ( my first ipad) i purchased a used pencil and keyboard on ebay, really cheap, a generic spare pencil for traveling. again really cheap, i then researched chargers and adators, so also have an L shaped adapter, so the pencil sits vertical on the ipad if i charge on the ipad. i also purchased a charging stand, its small and round with the charging port on top as well as another "hole" to store the top while charging it so it doesn't get lost, and a place for a spare tip. all this was inexpensive as it is generic. there is always an alternative to anything apple puts out. you just need to spend a little time finding it. the time spent is well worth the money saved. and for screen protectors, i have a generic tempered glass one, and a magnetic paperlike feeling one for if i want to colour, do a lot of note taking etc. Again, really cheap as they are generic. i couldnt be happier, i spent a couple of days researching what i needed, what i wanted the ipad to do for me, and saved a lot of money getting exactly what i need to achieve it
Ipad 10 actually has a lot to offer, especially now at 349$, most of the tech reviews were wrong, except the keyboard price and overall price, but lots don’t use a keyboard, or buy After market. Plugging in a cord pencil for 3 minutes, oh so difficult.
Very true! I noticed the price reduction too! Considering the 10th gen with 256GB of storage and keeping that for years! I currently have an iPad 8th gen with 128GB of storage, still working fine.
@@shanepatrick641 great believe it or not I’m typing on an 5th Gen from 2017, still decent battery and speed. Almost 7 yrs old going strong surprisingly.
@@TheNewMediaoftheDawn wow! Respect good sir! Goes to show that not everyone needs the latest or greatest. Since these old iPads will do the job and then some. Hope yours keeps going and stays reliable 🙂 If you were to buy a newer one at some point were you thinking of getting the 10th gen at some point?? I’ve seen Apple has reduced the price on their website, so even a 256GB is a little more affordable now, provided you still have to save up a bit.
What UA-camrs seem to fail to understand most people don’t want a USED iPad Air from 2020 software support is where the buying decisions will be from now on, I guarantee it
The iPad works amazingly the box came a little dirty, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA no plastic wrap, but the box was sealed and had everything else in the box along with the wrapping, the iPad itself is gorgeous, I got the yellow 64g game storage is good for me along with Socials and school stuff. No scratches or marks came with the charger and box fast speed, and if you are buying a pen get the 1st gen don’t make the mistake I did !!
Apple actually made THE BEST kickstand + typecover for the iPad 10th Gen bizarrely enough. Thin and Light and usable and more flexible than the Anvil-Like Magic-Dock-Keyboard thing. And horizontal camera. They did hike the price up for entry level however.
I used the very first iPad that came out for Construction On site. I’m been retired over 7 years, and recently bought an iPad Air with the M1 chip. More than adequate for what I do now.
UA-camrs say stuff like you shouldn’t buy it buy the iPad Air instead, The air costs around 200 bucks more than than the 10th gen that’s a lot of money for most people. Sometimes they need to get out of their bubble, not everyone has stuff sent to them
I personally never use Apple Pencil or any of their keyboards. The iPad for me is for media consumption, video calls, and a larger screen to stand up when I need to read tabs or sheets for playing instruments. If you don't use Pencil or Keyboard, the iPad 10 suddenly becomes an amazing option. Especially now since you can get a 256 GB model for $599 which is the same starting price of iPad Air at only 64 GB for $599. Or you can get a refurbished iPad Air (4th gen) for $599 with larger storage too.
Yeh that's why i want to buy 10th generation not air 5 because same prive but 256gb but i have to use keyboard so i am little confused because apple keyboard is so expensive so be maybe i but any othe keyboard?
I am coming from a 13 inch 2012 MacBook Pro. I think I want to switch over to the iPad world. The device would be used for browsing the web, iMessage, FaceTime, reply to emails, & watching videos. Sound like a good fit for me?
I bought this iPad on release. One for myself and one for my girlfriend. We both love it. We both only ever had Android tablets before. Myself personally usually had budget android tablets before this one. My girlfriend had a flag ship Samsung one a few years ago (forget which model it was now but it wasn’t cheap). But it’s the best tablet we’ve both ever had. Battery life is good and performance is good (For my experience that isn’t saying much though since I had budget tablets before lol). Girlfriend has the Apple Pencil for hers. It’s a little annoying with the cable and adapter to charge it…but in all fairness it’s not that big a deal I think..it still works as it should outside of charging, I personally think many people over exaggerated this minor annoyance. I can understand if it’s for kids who can easily lose the cap on the pencil though. But yeah all in all I would give this tablet a 8/10. If it wasn’t for the USB C being limited to USB 2 and not getting the multi tasking features of the dearer pro tablets when I connect it to my portable USB C Dock and to a monitor/tv I’d probably give it a 10. But it’s a bit annoying only being able to duplicate the screen to the TV instead of extend the screen for 2 separate screens. Also not being able to use the multi tasking feature of the Pro version. I have a feeling this tablet is capable of both these things they just choose not to enable it to encourage you to buy the dearer option…. Regardless, I don’t think I’ll ever buy another Android tablet again after the experience we’re getting with our Apple tablets :) I opted for the Logitech combo case with the keyboard and touch pad. It’s a bit more rugged than the apple one and feels that it offers pretty good protection also has a backlit keyboard. Since getting this tablet with this keyboard case I use my laptop a lot less now. Whenever I travel to visit family for a weekend or a week etc, I take my IPad 10th Gen now instead of a laptop lol. Lighter and more convenient with good battery life and great performance whilst doing pretty much anything I would need to do from a laptop.
actually the 1st gen pencil comes with the usb c adapter in the box since the release of the ipad 10, the issue comes for people that already had the pencil before
it’s NOT an entry level IPad, it’s a fcking 450€ tablet which performs like an IPad Pro 2nd gen, it’s a super usefull device for all the people like me who loves to take notes, do powerpoints, watch medias, play games with super smooth framerate, draw a few things as a hobby, do music, EVERYTHING you can imagine but not with the performances of an M2 or M4 IPad (you are paying a quarter of an IPad Pro). The IPad Pros aren’t created for random people, they are work machines, so buying them as a casual user is just a complete waste of money.
I have upgraded from an amazon tab to this in 2022! This is very quick and way better than that slow tab! Even in 2024, no complaints for my blue iPad 10!
The proper FaceTime camera was ultimately my biggest reason the purchase. Once they update their entire lineup it will be hard to stay with this intro model.
It seems like if you were holding it, the camera position would be much improved, but I was more interested in the center stage. It seems like if I was standing farther away and it was face tracking, the camera positions would be far less obvious.
HI Max! First of all thanks for this video, for me it's a great iPad considering of what I use it in my daily life that mainly is having videoconferences in webbed or teams with it, consuming multimedia like movies and series as well as a great notebook for my studies during my masters degree. The most productive usage I do with it is using sidecar function to have an extend my productivity using my Mac. I wouldn't buy the Magic Keyboard Folio because it's absolutely garbage, maybe the Logitech Combotouch cause it's cheaper and works basically the same for doing lite work for replying emails, creating office documents and so on. Not more than that for me it's a great tablet for web browsing, videoconferencing due to now the landscape positioned camera, taking notes for my studies, scan documents, consume content. I think for kids it's awesome for playing some games, watch movies or cartoons and even for old people who wants to communicate with their family with Face time. At least by my side and how I use it it's perfect. I won't draw professionally or edit videos on it.
I just picked up this 10th Gen iPad for my Middleschool kid. I got it for sale at $50 off which is that price point you mentioned. I purposely got it for the 4GB RAM (I don’t trust Apple restraining apps to the 3GB limit for iPads much longer) and the cameras, sound, display - are good enough. I am frankly ‘meh’ on getting refurbished 4th Gen Air (I considered it) . I’d rather pay the extra $50 for new - even with its flaws it’s a decent iPad. And who says you have to buy Apple’s keyboard accessory. Pfft. Forget that!
Thank you, this was an excellent second look review of the new basic 10th generation iPad. On the week this model was introduced, I ordered the older basic 9th generation model (top of the line version with memory of 256GB plus the cell data option) for about $540. In addition, I also picked-up a Logitech Combo Touch (with back-light keys) for about $115 and , I already owned the Apple 1st generation pencil along with a couple of Apple lighting port adapters. So, my current iPad set-up meets all of my needs (smile...smile).
@@davidfrews This sounds great. I like it when there are two models with which, to make a selection from and happy to hear you are enjoying the basic iPad 10 generation version.
5:47 funny thing, my local Walmart has an iPad 10 on display strapped to a Magic Keyboard. Like they couldn't have made it more obvious that it doesn't work with that iPad.
I went to buy this, and was disappointed at how basic it was for the price, I looked at spending a bit more and then a bit more after that, ended up with an I Pad Pro M1, Apple got me good with this one.
I just picked up a 10 for my wife and gave her 9 to my son who has a habit of breaking screens on his. I will say, the GOOD thing about the non-laminated displays is that if you shatter the "screen" its usually just the digitizer which isn't a terribly expensive or hard thing to replace compared to an entire assembly like in the air. So that's a good thing if you have kids!
Hey, i have noticed that when playing games. The iPad 9 lagged and randomly crashes, but the iPad 10 doesn’t. Maybe because the iPad 9th only has 3 gigs of ram while the 10th has 4 gigs 💁. For 100$ difference the 10th is better!. Like the 4K display (10) rather than 1080P display (9), 2 landscape speakers rather than a side, USB C , landscape camera, better chip and ram, supports longer, touch id is REALLY FAST than the 9th, better back camera, VERY LONG LASTING BATTERY LIFE AND PROBABLY MORE!. 😅
Max, of course it’s “ limited on purpose” , it’s cheaper like they are creating a product with a smaller budget to work with so they are making cost saving measures and balancing feature set. Most causal users or non tech people, kids /older people it will be perfect! if you want them to have all the same features at the iPad Air it would literally be the iPad Air. I’m confused why you think otherwise
I've had the iPad 10 since February 15, 2024, I must say that I'm really enjoying it! It's great for the gaming I do, and then I simply use it for social media . I highly recommend it, especially now that it has dropped in price!
I just upgraded me and my wife’s iPad to the blue 10th gen iPad with cellular about a week ago, my cell phone company had them for 1/2 off plus a free year of 5G service, so I thought it was a great buy, we absolutely love this iPad version, my old iPad was a 1st gen pro and my wife’s was a Air 2, maybe we are a little behind the times so these iPads seem like they are top of the line ones to us, but they do what we want with them with lightning speed and a beautiful screen display, we also love the color options, we were burned out white or silver and back, I’m not sure why everyone on the internet is bashing this iPad, seems pretty decent to us for $250
Apple has created this dilemma, since iOS had so many limitations for so long people simply don’t think a tablet is worth much more. Now they want to sell Pro models that cost a lot of money but people want just a cheap device.
This model was designed for what I use it for. I use it to watch UA-cam/Movies, play music, and browsing the web. Apple knows some of us don't want the keyboard or pencil, so made an iPad for that group of people. iPad Pro on up is for the people that want to do video editing and so on.... What is nice is that it has the option to use the two if you wanted "keyboard and pencil" so you don't really have to worry about missing anything.
I am a student. I don't need to do heavy work on my tablet. I am confused between Ipad 10th gen and Samsung S9 FE. Both are selling at the same price in my country. I have never used any iOS before. Could you help me in deciding between the two?
Tbh if you are looking for a screen quality centric tablet, go for the ipad. But samsung ipad is hella lot better in terms of compatibility as many apps are not available to download on ios and you cannot download any mod apk from normal browser. Also android would just help you to use your normal google accounts in apps compared to ios where you have to start with a completely different account
You can glue magnets in places where you need them. Not ideal, but makes it work. I got one free from RBC to open an account for 3 months, so I'll take it.
I have this iPad and it's really just not that bad, call me krazy but I sold my M2 iPad Pro to get the 10th Gen and still saved a decent amount of cash. Yeah, are you going to want magnetically place and charge your pencil? Ofc, who wouldn't however the USB-C Apple Pencil is not a bad bang for its buck and you can still use it while it's charging unlike the Magic Mouse. The 10th Gen also has a more sensible camera placement. In essence what I'm saying is even within your own beloved ecosystem you still have to Think Different.
With the over-production of M2 chips, have there been any rumors about getting an iPad Mini update with an M2 chip? I feel like that would make for a really unique tablet and desktop device!
I thought about getting this iPad but I chose an iPad pro 2018 having a 120 hz refresh rate display which I absolutely prefer it over the 60 hz non laminated display of the 10th gen iPad. I think this is a smarter choice costing me 500€. Last but not least my iPad is getting 18.4 fps on 3DMark which is better than 12.2 on the iPad 10
I got this iPad for free and bought a knockoff Magic Keyboard and for the most part am quite happy with it. The biggest gripe is lack of Stage Manager that is available on pro gen 1 and air 4 that both use the same or slower chips, meaning its again an arbitrary limitation based on what you spend
I don’t rely on refurbished products anymore, I have bought 2 phones, both in a “new” state. This was the biggest mistake because they all broke after 1 year! My tip for y’all, buy new or buy nothing.
It is not necessarily a feature of the air that it has a laminated display. I am someone who gladly uses my apple units for 3-5 generations before I upgrade. Replacing the cracked glass of my 2018 iPad Pro is almost as much as a brand new iPad 10. gen because of the laminated display. That is not worth its for me, as I have a 16" M1 Max for movies and use the iPad mainly for consuming UA-cam videos. I would take the non-laminated display over laminated any day, just for the ease of mind that if it cracks, I know I can replace it without breaking the bank.
I like it, it mostly sits in front of my Mac mini monitors, propped up by a mini Snickers tin, always plugged in, and I do use the pencil - and have saved a lot of money on notebooks to scratch notes in (which I do daily). I don't mind charging the pencil, doesn't happen that often. I also use it for music scores when I play keyboards live (and also for changing patches in my keyboards). I've had no problems with the glare. I also like the front camera position (big selling point). I looked at Airs and Pros for a bit more, but this works perfectly for what I do.
I’m trying to buy an iPad at the minute but am so confused. From what I can see, the air 4 would be the best all round but I’m wondering if an M chip ipad would be a better idea long term for support and features. Not sure.
As a writer and sermonizer, I love it. It surfs the web flawlessly and the Apple Pencil USB C is a great addition. I used an M4 Pro 13" and hated it. It had all of the bells but was too big. It was overkill because my use case with it was write and check emails on the go. Therefore, this iPad is perfect me as a basic user.
I don't care about the apple pencil. I got a 3rd party pencil from Amazon at 20 bucks which runs on replaceable battery. I use the pen at least 2 hours a day. It has been 8 months since I bought the pencil. I didn't need to change the battery which costs less than a doller. I don't care about the keyboard either. I got a $30 bluetooth keyboard cover from Amazon which works perfectly fine for me. I put a anti-reflection glass screen protector to remove the annoying glare when using it against direct sunlight. The only thing bothers me about this iPad is the air gap inside the display!

Very, very true. My iPad 10 replaced my laptop to some extent. It is largely my daily driver.
I think Apple knows most who buy this iPad aren’t buying the keyboard or pencil so the camera placement is much more important to buyers of this device.
Yeah Ihave the ipad 9 and even if it supported the 2nd gen apple pencil I wouldn’t buy it.
I only use my ipad for content consumption and browsing the web so I don’t need the keyboard or the pencil.
yep!
huge amount of students buy the budget version and pencil.. And I've never seen anyone with the basic ipad who isnt student honestly..
I totally agree.👍🏾
Honestly for conference meetings the selfie cam is definitely worth it and at the exact same position lmao 😂

Regardless, I don’t think I’ll ever buy another Android tablet again after the experience we’re getting with our Apple tablets :)
I opted for the Logitech combo case with the keyboard and touch pad.

But you can’t charge it if you don’t have the adapter at hand, that’s a no no for me
it’s NOT an entry level IPad, it’s a fcking 450€ tablet which performs like an IPad Pro 2nd gen, it’s a super usefull device for all the people like me who loves to take notes, do powerpoints, watch medias, play games with super smooth framerate, draw a few things as a hobby, do music, EVERYTHING you can imagine but not with the performances of an M2 or M4 IPad (you are paying a quarter of an IPad Pro).
The IPad Pros aren’t created for random people, they are work machines, so buying them as a casual user is just a complete waste of money.

Bought the 9 and returned it. The screen looked like crap. Speakers too. I have the ipad 10 now. Love it.
😂
😂😂😂
😂
Maybe you do research before buying, just putting that out there
😂😂
I have found the exact same with mine!
Good to know guys thanks
Max, of course it’s “ limited on purpose” , it’s cheaper like they are creating a product with a smaller budget to work with so they are making cost saving measures and balancing feature set. Most causal users or non tech people, kids /older people it will be perfect! if you want them to have all the same features at the iPad Air it would literally be the iPad Air. I’m confused why you think otherwise
Like an ebook reader or email or browsing.
As of March, 2024, Amazon has it for $350, 4 colors same price
I've had the iPad 10 since February 15, 2024, I must say that I'm really enjoying it! It's great for the gaming I do, and then I simply use it for social media . I highly recommend it, especially now that it has dropped in price!
yeah i agree with u ! I really enjoy mine
Well… im about to get 1 since im just goin to use it for online classes. which is the camera positioning is an advantage.
This model was designed for what I use it for. I use it to watch UA-cam/Movies, play music, and browsing the web.
Apple knows some of us don't want the keyboard or pencil, so made an iPad for that group of people. iPad Pro on up is for the people that want to do video editing and so on.... What is nice is that it has the option to use the two if you wanted "keyboard and pencil" so you don't really have to worry about missing anything.
it’s on sale for like 250 bucks rn. you’re shitting on it but at 250 bucks it feels like a steal
I still have the old pencil, so i got this when my first generation ipad pro died, so the fact that it uses the OLDER pencil was a benefit.
The screen technology is the reason for the pencil first generation choice, not the camera position.
Most people just don’t care my grandmother got one and loves it
One fool doesn’t mean we are all fools :(
@@jamesfiegel9675 show some respect!!
@@4streamonly666totally agree!! 💯
Just got it n I love it no lie got the 256 go n it’s worth it
wait what did you say-
*continues to buy*😊
Tech UA-camrs: They say anything for sponsors.
Is it worth buying ipad 10 at the end od this year
Got mine open box for $356 from Best Buy. Amazing condition
I think it’s a great iPad as long as you don’t want / need the pencil.
Amazon renewed items are not eligible for Apple Care which is a deal breaker to me.
With the over-production of M2 chips, have there been any rumors about getting an iPad Mini update with an M2 chip?
I feel like that would make for a really unique tablet and desktop device!
IPad 11 should have a 16 or m1 because the air six will have m2
The iPad Air 2024 has the M2 chip
"My kids didn't loose the pen because it was magnetically attached"
Hooookay buddy 😄
I thought about getting this iPad but I chose an iPad pro 2018 having a 120 hz refresh rate display which I absolutely prefer it over the 60 hz non laminated display of the 10th gen iPad. I think this is a smarter choice costing me 500€. Last but not least my iPad is getting 18.4 fps on 3DMark which is better than 12.2 on the iPad 10
iPad 10 is going to get way more years of software updates.
IPad Pro 2018 is absolutely amazing
Agree but sadly mine has got a ghost touch problem but it’s great
I got this iPad for free and bought a knockoff Magic Keyboard and for the most part am quite happy with it. The biggest gripe is lack of Stage Manager that is available on pro gen 1 and air 4 that both use the same or slower chips, meaning its again an arbitrary limitation based on what you spend
iPad Air 4 doesn't support Stage Manager (iPad Air 5 does)
I don’t rely on refurbished products anymore, I have bought 2 phones, both in a “new” state. This was the biggest mistake because they all broke after 1 year! My tip for y’all, buy new or buy nothing.
Maybe just stop buying from shady retailers.
Refurbished are better.
I bought a refurbished iPad Air 4 over the iPad 10 for these same reasons.
Hey, so you found the glare not to be such an issue? This is the only thing holding me back. Is the quality of videos good?
I’m trying to buy an iPad at the minute but am so confused. From what I can see, the air 4 would be the best all round but I’m wondering if an M chip ipad would be a better idea long term for support and features. Not sure.
But the air five could support iPad os 21
@@alexthemtaandr211weatherfa2 i mean..the iPad 10 will likely support iPadOS 21 as well
As a writer and sermonizer, I love it.
Got it on Amazon for $334 ($359.05) after tax and shipping. Glad I waited. 😊
I purchased this iPad for my mother yesterday.
All depends on your use case. I bet for most people it fine.
Now this iPad is $350 and Imma try to get the iPad 10 today
I think with the new Apple Pencil 3. It would be a worthwhile buy compared to the older Apple Pencil 1
got the 256 gigs version for 490$ . what a steal
