I'm so tired of Maple Leaf and other Joplin pieces being associated with saloons. Joplin wrote his first pieces a decade after the end of the Wild West era.
I’m always a little sad when this piece is played because it’s not as well known as the Entertainer. (And that Joplin is under-appreciated today). For me, Maple Leaf Rag is the superior composition and far more enjoyable to listen to.
@@kodachromatiche wrote so many good pieces, I don't think we have to rank them. What I like less about this piece is that the last two sections aren't as catchy as the first part. I wonder why in his rags he rarely repeats the first tune at the end - you'd think that would be the obvious thing to do.
Indeed brilliant, technically. But I actually would like it a tad slower and a bit more cesura between the notes to show more feeling, and maybe even a little nostalgia.. But then -- I'm always right. ;-)
What a wonderful natural talent. This young man has clearly been sitting at a piano for many years and loving it. It is always difficult to maintain the attention span of children long enough for them to achieve sufficient skill to hold that attention and progress. This young man has surpassed the skill level of many accomplished adults. Spectacular playing. I am so in awe of talent like this. I will watch his career with great interest. Best regards from the Giants Causeway coast of Northern Ireland. 😀👍☘️
Flawless. I too played the MapleLeaf around his age, perhaps a little older. For ol' skool pianist, it's like a benchmark. In a few years as he continues to play it he'll b able to accent it and express it that much deeper. LOVED watching him. So beautiful and excellent playing. From where does he hail?
Your playing is absolutely fantastic. I've been playing for 66 years, and can't even begin to sound as good as you do. Thank you so much for sharing this with the world, and especially with me.
You MUST make an appearance at the Scott Joplin Festival in his home town of Sedalia, Missouri!!!!! We were WOWED with the quality of the performers they had in 2023.
My favourite Joplin piece, that was toe tappingly brilliant, what a talent you are young man, Mr Joplin would be pleased it's still being played almost 125 yrs after he wrote this piece. Thankyou👏👏👌
Not only being played after 125 years, but by a young boy in these days where the trending music the guys his age are listening to. that's double kudos for both the composer and the player.
Observing the musical skill and proficiency this young man has attained at such a young age (note there's nothing on the music stand), it's highly likely that he will succeed at whatever vocation or avociation he pursues. Bravo!
This kid is SOOOOOO good I just don't have words for him. Without a doubt he has the gift and is sure making great use of it. Don't ever stop. You are destine for great things. All my best.... Jim
This is the first rag a played - I was 14, taught myself. Your playing gives his tune a nice relaxed happy and easy to listen to feel. He’s got a lot more - record them and put them up on UA-cam!
Listened to this piece a couple of times (I play it) and two of his other posts. There’s no upper limit to Lynden’s piano possibilities. I hope he stays with it and receives all the gifts that only music can offer.
Rag time and boogie woogie are my two absolute favorite piano pieces - they cannot be played by "casual" pianists - they take lots of practice to get good at like this young man!
I appreciate very much Scott Joplin. Your interpretation is wonderful, with technic without forget nuances. When I listen that, I consider that I'm not a pianist! 🎹 😂
What an incredibly talented young man you are! I figured I would tune in for a few seconds and see what was what and I was transfixed! Your playing is intuitive and nuanced and accurate and easy. I predict you will have a wonderful future ahead of you. You have style and that isn’t something that can be taught. It comes with prowess and commitment. Congratulations! I’m a fan!
A flawless performance from a very gifted, talented and hard working boy!! I have personally never heard this piece played better, or with such colour, flare and personality!! Bravo!! You have a long and distinguished career ahead. How wonderful to have found your vocation at such a tender age!! May the Blessings of Our LORD be with you always. Amen 🙏🕊✝️🕊🛐🕊🙏
Which translated means: Beautiful performance. Thank you. Amazingly played, my favorite melody. (BTW, I agree 100%. Such a classic, and it actually shows that you enjoyed playing it. Which may be true for a number of Joplin's songs, just fun for pianists of all ages.)
SCOTT JOPLIN was a very talented pianist. I wonder what he would say if he heard this being played, then saw the pianist playing was such a young talent.?
People watch his hands which are absolutely fantastic with the suppleness of someone who’s dedication stands out but don’t forget he’s using all four limbs as his feet are on two or perhaps three pedals. Excellent for such a young age❤️👏👍
Your discipline and form at the keyboard are most studied and yet not unlike a ballet for the fingers. I have poor vision and often play with my eyes closed, but my training didn't lean toward discipline, or maybe that was me. I'm improvisational, perhaps by nature. Congratulations. I know how hard it is, but I also know the great joy of music. You're so young. Have a great life. I know you will.
What a joy to see him play and doing such a great job. One of my all time favorite songs. I told my wife that if I precede her I want that played slowly at my funeral.
Lyndon, I really enjoyed listening to this! I replayed it a few times to enjoy it again! I hope you will go on. Your talent for and your dedication to music paves your way not only towards a musical career - I have seen quite a few friends with high musical talent and the discipine acquired in music pursue successful carreers in medicine, law, theology, and engeneering. I wish you all the best. You are at the enviable age to choose.
Well done! I’ve been playing piano for 55 years and have loved and played many ragtime pieces myself ever since it experienced its revival in the 1970s. I am duly impressed by this young man’s beautifully syncopated articulation and his innate sense of rhythm. You have a very bright future in music. I sure hope you stick with it!

@@xamtastic - I guess we'll just have to get Hollywood to quit using them in westerns, then. :)

Well done lad, you are destined for great things.
This boy is committed to be willing to practice. No casual pianist can do this.
Well, thank you Captain Obvious! We would never have guessed that without your perceptive input!

I'm sure it helps a great deal that he appears to thoroughly enjoy playing the piece.
These kids are amazing. That’s a secret code for “ I’m jealous as hell “. 🤣🤣🤣. Well played there young man. 👍👍

He's not even reading music! That's cool 😎
@@clairethemusician968well memorized. Getting the left and right hand timing just right to do this requires SKILL and TALENT!
He's not a "young man": he's a boy. It will be quite a few years yet before he becomes a man. This American English usage is simply creepy.

Scott Joplin would be amazed! Sounds like a player piano on fast speed.♥️🎹
Mr Joplin would be pleased.
This is one of the finest performances of the signature Joplin composition that I have ever heard. Bravo on a spotless rendition! 👏🏻👏🏻
I agree. It's not just impressive because he's young; it's well paced, lively and graceful.
Your dedication and skill will be a source of joy to you and those around you for the rest of your life. Thank you for sharing it with us.
What a perfectionist this child is!
yes...and he is a great musician too !
Any song by Scott Joplin was at the top of the charts around 1910.
I am a fan of the Scott Joplin music and this boy does a great job
And from memory, no less!
That was really amazing. Excellent piano playing. 👍👍💯

Wow!!! So young and so talented!

Extremely well played and on such a beautiful piano.
