Imtiaz rightly said somewhere Chamkila was a superhit artist so how can a movie on him not be a superhit. What a terrific biopic on a celebrated man of masses

I live in Canada and i watch this movie at 5 am in the morning. I saw your review late no doubt screen play is outstanding. Diljit acting is superb 👌 music is top class. Parineeti role is small but good acting by her too. Hats 👒 off to Imtiaz Ali .

Chamkila kabhi koi bhoola he nh tha … specially who listen Punjabi songs … I live in Australia and mostly when I drive alone I play his songs … can’t believe that he assisted in 1988 I was not even born. But I still love listening to his songs. Iss movie ne Amar kar dia Chamkile ko .. hats off Imtaz Ali
Truck driving became easy listening chamkila...when some one say laa chamkila ...its not about particular song...its about artist as whole...he contributed to truck driving economy very much.

My role as the woman seen in trailer who initially does not like his lyrics, then gets convinced by the fact that all women sing such stuff in folklore and she gives live example by singing and gidha in desi style. Chamkila was a dalit. And punjab is infamous for its anti-dalit casteist stories.
So considering this, chamkila despite being a dalit managed to carve a niche for himself, emerged as the top singer of his time is actually very commendable and interesting 👍

I felt extremely sad, I didn't know Amar Singh Chamkila before this movie, after watching t on Netflix , there is a lingering sadness, that's not going away, I looked up the real Amar Singh Chamkila and his performances. His story, his being Dalit, his father and the fact that this story is real, is just heart touching.
