    Great info. My float heights were way off. And different them each other too. Thanks so much. Also the tip on checking needle and seat blowing through inlet was awesome. Thanks man!

      I’m glad its helping, there wasn’t much detail on you tube the first time I went thru one so I’m happy to hear it’s useful.

    Have a 91 phazer 2 that dies every so often after the motor is warmed up. Idle is fine and no fuel/carb issues. I bypassed the throttle over ride at the carb and so far so good. Is there also a over ride at the handlebar throttle?

      No, nothing else just the carb side bullet plugs is all there is. Of course you plugged the harness side bullet plugs into each other right?

      Yes I did. Just got back from a rip around the field and it runs and idles nicely.

    any tips for a perfect tune on a 1999 phazer 500?

    • @phazerworld6300
      @phazerworld6300  Рік тому

      I have a video on the phazer 500 that shows the carb, tuning of it would be the same, only a few differences but not enough to make another tuning video for that carb.

    Good video man. Testing the needles that way is pretty smart. How many times I’ve put a carb back on to have an issue that I could’ve just tested!

      Awesome, it works on lots of different machines not just snowmobiles, I’m so glad it helped

    Question, are the needles connected to the float you are using have a rubber tip on them or they all steel? Some kits come with the rubber tips. I would think the rubber tips seal better.

    I am running lean on the clutch side of my 1991 venture. Plenty of compression. Advice?

      The pilot screw adjustment is 1.5 turns out as a starting point, turning out more will richen it, try it in 1/4 turn increments

      The next step is to upsize the main jet? Are you running a pipe? If so you you may need to upsize the pilot jets too

    good video, I'm definitely gonna be referencing this in a few days. First time rebuilding the carbs on my phazer

      Glad it helps, take the bowls off slowly so you see where the rubber plugs are located, some newer Phazers only use 1 plug but you can see that on my 1999 phazer video

    Good stuff! Almost all the screws on my carbs were mushy and I stripped the heads out, will need to replace those. I also shouldn't have tried to remove the pilot air jet because that head rounded off too, wasn't able to get it out, so I'm just going to leave it and hope for the best.
    Also, I have a question on the non pto side carb, I noticed the throttle valve is just slightly open by a hair, compared to the pto side where it's flush fit around the circumference. Is this by design? I loosened the screws to adjust the plate but it didn't help.

      Ive had that happen where you had to leave the pilot in, brake clean it a few times and lots of air, hopefully all good. set your butterflys level at wide open throttle, thats worked for me every time, I quit worrying about the idle position of the butterflys, unless yours are a huge difference

      I just did 2 more Phazers, the air mixture screws were seized in and broken off so I couldn't adjust them, thankfully they must have been in the right spot because they run great

      @@phazerworld6300 Haha. I have another phazer where the tips were bent and after I replaced with brand new ones, I couldn't notice a difference.

    Great videos thanks . I picked up a 91 phazer and adjusted the choke cables and oil injection setting , trimmed back plug wires . Still getting a low end bog and fouling plugs . Top end cleans out at high speed . I’m going check spark then going to pull carbs and clean them up and make sure those rubber plugs are in right place

    • @phazerworld6300
      @phazerworld6300  Рік тому

      Yea, I’m glad they are helping someone, that’s the pint. When I did my first one it was confusing. If you haven’t cleaned the carb yet, pay close attention to the pilot jet circuit, it sounds like it might be clogged:dirty since you have good main jet performance. Good luck and keep that Yamaha running!

      @@phazerworld6300 I was checking for spark yesterday before pulling carbs off and one cylinder was full of fuel . Thought float must be stuck Pulled carbs apart , floats were fine and close to spec but found one needle and seat with wear and one pilot jet plugged . Put new needle and seats in clean jet and runs like a champ ! 😄

    So how would a guy fix stripped threads where the bowl bolt and jet screws into the carb any help appreciated

    • @phazerworld6300
      @phazerworld6300  2 роки тому +1

      Not sure you can tap new threads in and make that salvageable or not, I wouldn’t throw it away yet but in my situation I just grab another one from my parts department. You should be able to find a replacement, they are pretty common.

    • @phazerworld6300
      @phazerworld6300  2 роки тому

      If you can’t get the threads fixed you can find a used carb on eBay, let me know if you need one

    I would add bigger jets if revving over 7000 rpm, 100 pilot jet ( this is mid range ) 145 mains, 147 if piped. the mid is hard to clean ( hidden above butterfly's ) yes you must prove cleaning of air jet! If it lacks power at low speed it's not clean!

    • @phazerworld6300
      @phazerworld6300  Рік тому

      Thank you for that but this is not a jetting intro at all, it’s a basic carb set up procedure video to assist with basic tuning. I think there is room on the you tube for a jetting video but what I have seen is it’s almost subjective because of so many variables.

    The rubber plugs go int facing the center tube column there in eh?

      The rubber plugs cover the center hole, and the pilot jet. One hole of the 3 is open.

    When it comes to syncing these carbs; when I sync them to wide open throttle they aren't the synced with closed is that ok

      That’s how I’ve been doing it .I used to try and set the gaps at idle the same but then wide open was off, I think it’s better setting it at WOT. Thanks for watching
