    THANK YOU! THANK YOU! We tried to get our new John Deer in gear for over an hour! We had no idea that when the delivery guy pushed the mower up to our driveway that you have to push that silver thing in the back, back in! To tell the truth the guy may have told us about that but we were just so excited over the new John Deer we may have missed that bit of information.

      Glad you made the effort to learn how to! Yes, glad this video is out there. It is a bit complicated! Tried the basics with my step-dad just now! Gonna keep at it till I'm an expert! My parents go to Mexico for a month every year now and the yard needs a trim at least once while they are gone. Last time I paid someone but wanting to save some money. Gonna keep trying till I get it.

    Brad - Love your videos. I grew up with a guy named Mike. We were kids in the 80s. Mike was THE best mechanic. Anything from small engine, dirt bikes to cars. He regularly pulled engines and rebuilt them. He worked at the lawn mower shop as a mechanic. Also the best dirt bike rider around. His left hand was like your right and his right was like your left. I think of him every time I’m working on something and “can’t get it”. He’s an inspiration and so are you. Keep up the videos.

      Mike was indeed born that way. He once broke a throttle cable on his dirt bike. Instead of walking the bike home he borrowed a pair of needle nose pliers and quickly re-routed the throttle cable from the twist grip directly to the handlebar and just twisted it around the bar. He used his right “arm” to operate the throttle by just pulling some tension. Soon he was pulling wheelies this way. Dude was amazing.

    You saved my life today! Did I know how to operate a riding lawnmower when I bought one? No! Did you just teach me? Yes! The delivery guys dropped it off and put it in my driveway which is on a downward slope. I couldn’t figure out how to move it. It was the pin in the back. Thank you so much for making this video.

    hi, Im looking at one on FB marketplace. does the forward peddle hvae to be pressed in for the duration of the mowing session.
    Or, is it like cruse control where once its' pressed it stays on. thanks.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  4 місяці тому +1

      Forward pedal must be depressed (and stay depressed) to move forward unless the machine has cruise control. Some John Deere have them and some do not. I cannot tell you which ones have or have not but I'm sure you can look up the specs on the John Deere web site.

I have a John Deere 110 that is 5 yrs old and i baby it 🤣….i just had to have a Carburetor selenoid fixed and i wondered if that is normal for a 5 yr old mower….your videos are amazing!! I don’t trust the backyard service guys around here now….i’m in NW Pa across the state and would def hire you if closer….now i can just see myself following your hour long servicing video while instructing my son and questioning his every move so he gets it right …..im betting he will get very annoyed with me 🤣🤣 i subscribed, liked and will pass the word!!

      Hi Cindy, thank you for watching and supporting the channel. I do not come across to many fuel shut off solenoids that fail but they are electric and can fail at any time. Many fail due to chewed wires from mice. The biggest part in my opinion on keeping the machine happy for years is, never wash your machine, keep the machine inside a garage or shed if possible, keep mice out of engine and the video on preventative maintenance that you watched is all good measures to keep machine around a long time.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines

      If it is to the right of the ignition key on the side and the block is black and slides up and down. It most likely is cruise control. This machine did not have cruise control.

    @JohnsonsSmallE Hi Brad. I am a new subscriber, and I really enjoy your repair videos, and I have a question for you. Unfortunately, I recently had to replace the engine on my JD D110. I know it's suggested that I change the newly added oil, as soon as I have performed only one or two mows with the new engine, to clean out any factory particle remnants that may have remained in the engine, during manufacturing. My question is, do you suggest that I replace the new factory installed oil filter, as well? I look forward to your reply, and watching any new videos that you produce. Thanks, much!!

    Why do my jd lawn tractors new and old sometimes when start them u they will smoke for a second john deere said that was normal but they didn't explain why.do u know why I know nothing is wrong with them one is 16 years old did that since it was brand new and my 4 year old one does it once in a while

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  8 місяців тому +1

      If it is black smoke? that is ok. If it is white smoke? That is a sign of oil getting burned in the cylinder and is not normal. That being said, if it goes away quickly, normally we do not look into it because of the cost. Just keep an eye on your oil level. If the white smoke gets worse (engine smokes alot at idle after machine is hot) you may want to have it looked at. You may have a blown head gasket or a tired engine.
