I added a plastic fob to the key and slide it under the pto switch when mowing. Eliminates the pesky lifting when you backup backup. Works Works well on my X360.
My mom has a 2009 x300 and i agree the thing has been great It was originally my grandfathers after his craftsman’s engine blew and my mom inherited it after he passed it still has done great
Trading my old Cub Cadet tomorrow for an X300R with 149 hours. Found this video very helpful. Also watched your belt install video. I think the deck on the 300R is different, but I’m sure a similar process. Thank you!
We have a x304. I agree that it is a bit easier to work on the deck. I tried to work on my brother-in-law’s John Deere from the big box store it was to many components compared with my x304. I wish him luck with it and hope he gets a 300 series.
Just got a x354. Im using it to mow and spread things on the lawn. Should I have the throttle set to high while i am hauling my filled spreader? Or keep it on low? Not sure what would benefit the clutch more.
Great question! I'm certainly not a transmission specialist, but my thoughts are to run the throttle high enough that the tractor doesn't sound/feel like it's straining. I imagine this is probably below full throttle, but you'll have to play it by ear.
I just bought this exact JD deck combo, except it has 22 hp, 42 deck as yours. It has 135 hours on it, and looks like it was manufactured in 2012. Excited to mow for the first time using it tomorrow. I have some hill, any recommendations?
Only 135 hours - you should have lots of life left in the machine. Make sure you keep up with regular maintenance and oil and filter change. I always recommend the OEM parts (filters, belts, etc.) Depending on how big the hills are that you're using it on, I'd recommend mowing up and down them, not across them.
I have a JD Saber 2354 that is now 22 years old. Still runs great. The tranaxel is the same as the JD 500 model, almost a thousand hours on the motor. Looking at getting a Zero turn to buy
I didn’t realize that the Saber machines were made by John Deere. That’s interesting. 1000 hours on the motor is great! I think as long as maintenance is performed regularly, they can go 1500+ hours. I do really enjoy saving time mowing on the zero turn - but there’s some times that sitting on the lawn tractor is just more quality time while getting work done, than just getting the task done.
