As the mother of a UPS driver, thank you for recognizing their hard work during this season! He LOVES when people have snacks and drinks out!
Yessss! My husband is a UPS delivery driver. Yes they make good money. BUT he works 6 days a week for 13+ hours a day never taking a break while delivering in snow and -40 temps. He also delivers heavy packages (think a mattress) up apartment stairs BY HIMSELF. These guys deserve those little snacks and more. Trust me none of us would want to do that job!
I love how passionate you are about helping the homeless! It's awesome to hear someone speak on this topic without judgment as to why someone is homeless. It doesn't matter. Everyone deserves housing, and affordable housing at that. Too many people get caught up in judging homeless people rather than helping them. Thank you for your kind soul
I have worked with the homeless and mentally ill ( insurance case management and housing case management)and I completely agree with you on this topic! I worked in NYC right by the ferry and it's the hardest on them during the winter months we would take them in and let them get warm and have some coffee! Homeless people are not less than you and I, sometimes we get down on our luck and need some help getting back up!

Hearing you speak so passionately about helping the homeless community and how homelessness is a solvable problem is refreshing because all we ever hear is that homelessness is a problem because of drug and alcohol abuse!
I think giving back to delivery drivers is really nice. This is their busiest season and most of them don’t get very much time off for the holidays. My husband is a garbage driver and seeing people tip/ leave treats is something that makes them feel appreciated when they are working on holidays that most people get off.
I don’t know why I haven’t thought of helping a local homeless shelter before but thank you for bringing it up and highlighting such an important cause. ❤

I’ve enjoyed all these vlogs but the one today, I swear hit me hard! Listening to you express and validating the fact that just because you don’t have a place to stay doesn’t mean you don’t try, there’s always a misconception and I’m glad you spoke about it
I really respect you more than any other “influencer” on this app, and to call you an influencer doesn’t really seem like the right word. There’s something so authentic and genuine about how you present yourself that it always feels like we’re catching up as friends. More so than other videos, I caught myself smiling and nodding along to your thoughts on how to give back to your community. You have such a huge heart, and it’s so inspiring and uplifting to watch!

I wholeheartedly agree on helping unhoused individuals directly if you can. Cash can help them tremendously, they know what they need and can get it accordingly. It always breaks my heart when people treat the homeless like they’re second class citizens (I remember getting an earful from a friend after giving someone money when they were sleeping in the cold on concrete in the city… that friendship ended quickly). Thank you for all you do and for sharing it with others… love that you are using your opportunities to encourage others to help too. You are the best! 💜
I love your anger about the unhoused problem and dedication to solving it. Volunteering at Hesed House w the Girl Scouts as a kid was one of my first opportunities to volunteer and encounter that community first-hand, and they do such good work ❤

Girl yes!! I work with opportunity youth who are often housing insecure and did some work a couple years ago with unhoused folks. I so appreciate hearing people talk about houselessness as the systemic issue it is and not an individual problem.

As a young child, I lived in a homeless shelter after my mom made a series of poor choices. I don’t remember details of our room or things the shelter provided but I do remember spending a birthday there and they gave me a teddy bear.
Also, people always say “well I don’t want to give them money because they’ll buy beer or drugs”…dude that’s not on us to decide. If we can afford to help someone who is asking for help, we have done our part. If they use it in that way that’s on them and like you said “not my business”

Thank you SO much for speaking up on the topic of homelessness. It is one that is so important to me for numerous reasons. Homeless people are not less than and deserve respect. I really appreciate your heart when it comes to this topic. During covid, my state took an old hotel that was shut down and made it into short term housing for the homeless community. They have seen SO many amazing things coming from that program. When people were able to have things like constant housing, food and social work services like help with interviews, etc, they were able to do amazing things. It’s something I hope spreads and becomes a thing everywhere.

I love your passion for fighting homelessness Sarah! ❤️ I worked at a shelter for a while in college. I was in charge of the womens dept. And one thing that I saw as big need, if anyone need more ideas is helping individuals get the clothes, hair care, and cosmetics to look the part for job interviews. Alot of people will say that the people begging on the street should just get a job. But truthfully if they can't look the part most jobs won't hire them. Sure, there are a lot of people who won't try to get a job and are content not working towards getting out of their situation. But many do try and need the means to pass an interview most of all. In our area I worked with goodwill who would train individuals on how to do an interview and tried to get local salons to give vouchers for those trying to get haircuts to look the part. As someone who at one point in my childhood was on the cusp of homelessness and growing up paycheck to paycheck, thank you, I'm positive the people in the shelter appreciate every bit of help and it's really nice seeing someone out there who's not looking down on people for having less and thinking everyone is just a druggie. 👍

I feel the exact same way about homelessness. Even when I was young it upset me so much. It gets so cold in my city there have been deaths of unsheltered people in the cold. It breaks my heart and is the first cause I tend to support as well. I really appreciate you having this conversation❤️

I’ve been enjoying the daily vlogs for vlogmas but I know all good things must come to and end. On another note I agree with you when you say homelessness is very much a solvable problem. It’s sad to know that they may not know where their next meal will come from or watching them lay in the ground while it pours on them. I live on the west coast and driving through skid row is very much a reality check. I try to teach the kids be thankful for what you have and help those in need. You just never know what people are going through. Anyways hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. 🎄
