    I have to get surgery for Aortic valve Stenosis. I have a genetic condition. One of my valves didn’t develop. It is now regurgitating. I have extremely clean arteries to heart and brain. Replacing with cow part.

      Sounds like you have a bicuspid aortic valve. Fyi, we just posted a new patient webinar all about bicuspid aortic valves with the Mayo Clinic. Maybe this video will help you - ua-cam.com/video/TW3PuWTzA8s/v-deo.html.

    Replaced (Bovine) valve is now becoming symptomatic 8 years after open heart surgery with ascending aortic root graft. ECG show possible LVH or ischemia (depressed T’s) …. Concerned another bovine valve cannot be used with TAVR as I do not want to be on blood thinners going forward (have severe tinnitus). Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    What about the use of filters during the procedure to catch the loosened calcium and debris during the valve installation.

    ,Thank you so much for your such helpful information. I am awaiting an operation for aortic stenosis, I am so scared as my mum had a savr about 18 years ago she was just a little older than me I think 70. Sadly things never really recovered well for her after. Bless her she lived for another 15 years but sadly was never really able to do things she wanted to do. I am so scared for myself and having nightmares regarding this for myself. My leaflets are only opening 0.9 And I also havcalcium present. I do have other morbidities plus just keep gaining weight. I am diabetic type 1. So need to be careful but even after having ionlyy fluid for two days hoping it would see if I could loose just a bit rather than just keep gaining. Result I still gained. I do have leg oedema some days really bad. This may not help. However I feel so hurt as I am sure people must think I sit and eat all day. My granddaughter came to stay with us a while back for a holiday, she is recovering from anorexia. She said Nan you must eat more than you eat, I would be in so much trouble if I did so hard whatever you do. This part scares me and of course puts me at a greater risk. Any advice. I live in the Uk. I also take 200 mg thyroxine a day, restricted in water meds as having a higher dose caused ckd . So scared of dying during operation. I have seen the cardiologist regarding results but awaiting for an appointment to see the surgeon. Which I am told in view of recent events could be a couple of months. A SAVR was discussed but do you think I may be able to have a TAVR . Any help or advice would be wonderful thank you.

    Hello, I am 57 yrs old. I just had the dye test done and I need to have the aortic valve replaced. They wanted to install the cow tissue valve. All of my arteries are good, so why wouldn't I be a good candidate for the TAVR procedure? The recovery time is much better. I live in Canada. Any information would be appreciated.

    Just been diagnosed with minimal aortic valve stenosis. When will I die

    • @HeartValveSurgery
      @HeartValveSurgery  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Susie, Great question. A diagnosis of aortic stenosis is not a death sentence - not at all. So you know, there are many treatments that help patients live a long, meaningful life after surgery if/when a procedure is needed. As you have minimal aortic stenosis, it appears you may not need surgery for some time. To help you learn more about aortic stenosis, you may want to visit www.heart-valve-surgery.com/aortic-stenosis-valve-heart-narrowing.php. We hope that helps!!!

      It took me 20 years to go from mild aortic stenosis to severe aortic stenosis. I also have a bicuspid valve which didn't help. I'd say I had very mild symptoms maybe 10 years in where I should have had something done but continued to ignore the problem. I was diagnosed after a car wreck at age 26 but wasn't at all concerned about it considering my injuries and forgot all about it until recently when I started having issues breathing.

    Can you hear/feel these 'clicking' like the old mechanical valves?
