  • I bought the Neewer Diffusion Filter and Tiffen so that you don't have to, or at the very least purchase the best one for you. At first, I tested a Neewer vs Tiffen filter, both were 1/4 stop and then I did a 1/4 and 1/2 diffusion comparison. I hope it helps you and if you want, you can see the links for the products below.

Thank you! I really try my hardest to not like Newer because it's considered a "knock off" brand but a $68 price difference makes me reconsider. Thank you for the feedback.

Great video, however for this comparison I think should have allowed more light to come into your sensor as it's very difficult to see the effects of the filter on other details in the image that are blacked out. I think it was a missed opportunity there.

When it comes to this effect, usually you want it to be very dreamy. Cheaper filters will be dreamier and often better value for money. You don't want sharp with these filters because that is not their point.

I have Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/4 and 1, and Tiffen warm mist 1/4. All I can say these are pretty good for slightly softening skin, which I like. But when using these filters for halation effects I find that simple UV filter and a little hairspray or spray paint works about the same. I've been experimenting with applying various stuff on simple UV filters and see what it does 😂 I don't have any Neewer filters yet, but in future if I need more soft filters I'll go with them for sure. IMO when you want to soften the image no need to spend extra for fancy glass filter, because you ultimately make image less sharp, so why paying more

While I can’t verify Neweer filters (hence why I’m here), I can definitely verify the brand as a whole… Whenever I’m looking for something & I see the Neweer brand, I usually don’t hesitate. I’ve owned many different things like mounts, cables, chargers, adapters, lights, tripods ect over the years & the brand never disappoints. You always feel like you’re holding a quality product so I’m hoping the filters are the same 😁😁

So I've used them a few times. I'm also guilty of letting them sit in my bag and forgetting about them. From what I see, they hold up! Neewer is really showing they are more than a knock off brand.

I just picked up the Neewer 1/8 and 1/4 in 67mm for my 85 f1.8. I love them. And the box to store them in with the lens cloth is definitely a plus. I wasn't impressed by Tiffens packaging either and the 2 Neewer filters cost me less than 1 Tiffen.

Excuse me, I have a doubt, I ordered the ¼ neewer filter but I'm seeing that they have like a splash of micro black dots... that's normal but they only appear with the naked eye and against the light and with some object or white background placed on them. from behind he leaked!!!?
