Excellent video. Do you have to have a google calendar account to have a Notion calendar? I am new to Notion. I can see what you have done with the various google calendars, but is there a "user" calendar in Notion where you could show your availability? I can see how the databases are linked to Notion Calendar.
@@Smaffs59 Right now, Google Calendar is needed because Notion Calendar doesn’t have its own intrinsic calendar. I know they’re also working on integrating other calendar softwares like Outlook for example if you prefer other services! As a base, I would consider Notion Calendar more of a calendar “manager” vs. a calendar service if that makes sense.
@@itskatwaugh I thought that when Notion acquired Skiff they would be integrating that calendar, and without using Skiff I assumed you would be able to have your own calendar as you would in google calendar . No big deal I am happy to continue using Google alongside it. I have one Notion question that is challenging me on how you manage projects, would you be happy to answer it as I appreciate you are not a free consulting service
This is amazing, thanks for the info Kat. What software do you use to edit you nice videos? Like transitioning from FullSharedScreen to just your face? 4:50 Thanks again Keep rocking!
Of course!! I use Tella to film my videos! It makes it so easy to add transitions like the one you mentioned in post editing. I’ve got a video on my channel all about Tella and I also have a discount link in the description of this video :)
I've tried blocking tasks like this myself, but it didn't work for me! I noticed in some other videos that you had a "DO date" on your tasks. I've tried this myself as well, but couldn't find a simple way to reconcile using a DO date for planning vs. making sure I'm not compromising DUE dates. How do you handle that? (Apologies if you already have a video on that!)
Great q! I believe I address my planning process in my 2024 Notion Tour, so that may be one to check out. But if you have an instance where you know something is "due" in advance, it may be worth creating another date property for that and just keeping it visible as you plan so you can account for it!
I would SO love to be able to sync Notion and Motion... I took Motion for 1 year and it's super expensive but because I am always on Notion I really barely use Motion.. I would love to sync both. Motion is a planner that uses AI to schedule according to many factors and it seems a lost that I don't use it. One thing I thought about is to find a way to mimic INSIDE Notion what Motion does. I really think it's doable... I just wonder if Notion can be set up to "understand" time frames, example I work 9 to 5 and my tasks can be scheduled inside these hours, and understand recurring tasks, etc. So much fun with this app... I can't believe how much I love Notion!!
@@ameliehp I’ve seen overviews of Motion but I haven’t actually worked inside the program itself. Honestly, it wouldn’t shock me if Notion’s team is working on something like it though! I know one of their benchmarks going forward is to incorporate more AI, so it’s something to look out for! 👀 In terms of making something similar in Notion now, the only thing I can think of is to make a formula for start time and end time, then use a button to fill them all in at once. But boy those would be some beefy formulas 😅
@itskatwaugh As far as I understand it, Motion chooses the next free time in a calendar based on time blocks specified by the user. It's kind of similar to letting someone else book your calendar within certain blocks, but instead it's task allocation.
@@xavthomas I'm pretty sure something can be done there, we can already organize tasks by properties, I have a template here that allows me to have Urgent on top, Not urgent on bottom, also by due date, etc. I think if I can setup "work hours" in a funnybig formula it would be possible to make it similar to Motion. Because at the end of the day, Motion is "intelligent" because it follows criterias that we selected in the tasks window.

Whaaaaat - you can open a filtered view in Notion Calendar. This is a brilliant workflow - thank you for sharing :D

I have also been wondering this. I think there must be a formula that is possible - especially with time blocking.

How do you customize the colors??? I have been researching and theres nothing that teaches how to this
Yes! You have to do it on Google Calendar's end!
