Problem is, you can't do your best if you work with haters who try to sabotage you. Sometimes it's best to just quit if you work with sociopathic people.
I love her straight forward attitude. She's bloody right though. Majority of my anxiety stems from wanting to know what I'm here for, what's my purpose and needing to control things.
I recommend leaving with no compromise. Its extremely difficult to attempt to heal yourself (that's what you're trying to do) in the same environment that got you sick. I was at a place for 5 yrs, utilizing every positive attitude mantra and psychological self help trick in the book and they're band aids on a gaping would. Just like you cannot out train a bad diet, you cannot prevent/cure a toxic environment. If you stay, It doesn't get easier, you MUST become stronger.
Yes I absolutely agree. There are just some situations that this approach isn’t appropriate. I took this approach in a previous job, where I was dealing with a particularly toxic line manager. I did my absolute best, I showed up everyday and worked my damn hardest trying to do the job as best I possibly could. I ended up burning myself out and making myself really unwell. So I honestly believe that as much as this is great advice from Mel, it really doesn’t work in every situation.
@@ufoufo9182 it is the same that happened to me. I was stuck on that job. I hated, I become frustrated and I was sad but very very sad. I was doing Dy jobs, with no a rest day. And my mind was blowing up so I decided to take a 15 days vacations. I just came back and I'm more relaxed. Still I don't love my job anymore, but I'm doing my best. The problem maybe it was me I don't know. I started to study German. I feel much better now.
I needed this more than anyone will ever know. 5 months in and this job is sucking the life out of me. I am doing my best and giving it everything I got; it’s just a toxic culture and not the right fit for me. I’ve checked off square 1, now it’s time to be aggressive in my search for my next job! Thanks, Mel.
I love the people I work with. The work itself is out of order, full of errors and no clear direction in each process. Instead of thinking the job is the problem, I’m using my skills to fix this crap! I’ll do my best until I decide to move on.
100% agree with you Mel!I had at least 3 jobs where I hated my job, muy boss, etc etc, and looking back I now realize that my feelings towards the jobs were the real problem, not the job or the people themselves. Giving 100% at whichever job your at is the only and best way to deal with the "I hate my job" syndrome. In my last 2 jobs I applied this attitude, and things improved IMMEDIATELY! Why? 1) You start shifting to a positive attitude, and this immediately changes the attitudes of many around you. 2) Taking the INITIATIVE, puts you in control and eliminates the victim role-playing. 3) BETTER RESULTS start appearing (seemingly out of nowhere), and results increase confidence and generate positive feed-back loop, generating more results. 4) Usually (but not always) your boss or people in higher positions start noticing the change, and they will value your new attitude and performance. 5) If (4) does not happen, you will be more confident when interviewing for a new job, or venturing to start your own business. Best regards! Pablo
Thank you, Pablo :) This is exactly what I needed to read, since I'm trying to devise a strategy for my 3-month' notice period at the current job. Thank God I have brilliant and supportive coworkers.
That doesn't work for women. All the positive attitude in the world can't compensate for the toxicity leveled at females, for being female. I definitely see your experience in men I work with though.

I do my best every day and I am a valuable asset to my company. What drains me is the lack of communication. Lack of communication makes my tedious monotonous supermarket job frustrating. I’m trying to be a leader to people that have trouble listening or make the job harder than it needs to be. For what I’m paid don’t make it 2x harder that’s what makes me annoyed.

@0:30 "It's ALWAYS you!" Weeeeelllll... There is workplace bullying, nepotism, politicking, and more. Me, I smile a lot while I keep my eyes open for murder mystery ideas while I'm at work.
I agree with some of the things you said but not all. You focus solely on the environment and culture of the company and not about the actual job itself. If the basis is this, then you will feel miserable in almost every job you take because almost every time, there is at least 1 person in a company that makes your life difficult. And then you'll be looking for the next company because the boss is an asshole or your supervisor mistreats you... The focus should be on the the job itself. Everyone should ask themselves... What do i want to do? What kind of job makes me happy? Most people do not follow their passion and get stuck in a job they hate, because it pays well. I am speaking from experience and i found out the hard way. Do what you love and don't be afraid to take risks. Staying in your comfort zone will kill you slowly.

Very useful information...I'm currently in that situation but I know it's my fault. I just gotta take a leap and figure out the next step like you said. Not the rest of my life 👌
Isn't the real issue not so much a matter of 'hating a job' but more of hating the fact that as a species and society artificial constructs have been built and popularly encouraged which basically enslaves the average person to trade time for dollars and for the majority of worker bees that time is not spent in work that feeds the soul or empowers creativity? Most people hate giving up 50% of their income just to have a roof, most people hate the struggle of juggling finances to provide the basics, most people hate that economic controls are outside their power...example: The Federal Reserve is a private business NOT a gov't entity blow off with that 'get out and vote' logic. Congress has done a fantastic job of demonstrating that votes are bought and the enslavement of worker bees is systemic..the common psychology of "why bother voting it wont change anything" is NOT accidental programing. Its 100% intentional ...but I digress. It is interesting that in other cultures (labeled as 'undeveloped') these issues dont exist historically most especially for those cultures who are left alone at peace and not interfered with in the name of 'progress'.
Good information. But when you're at the point when you feel so beat down and discouraged, it is extremely difficult to show up with a smile. Seems like faking it could work agianst you as well, since deep down you are not being your true self.
if you're in a bad way - anxiety depression etc - largely on in part from hating yur job - then isn't what yur capable of "ie yur best" going to be different than if u're feelig good?
Well said Mel but how should an individual deal with the racism at work especially from their coworkers, you being ignored, they talk with them by whispering. How to deal with the discrimination at work should I leave the job or spoke out but I don’t want to create the envious environment for myself.
My job can be so challenging and I feel overwhelmed when mh boss gives me more tasks when I haven't even completed it. Should I accept a contract extension?
this is so accurate! Mel, have you ever heard of people being scanners? Barbara Sher was the first obe to use this term for people who are interested in a diversity of things. you might be one :-)
Who the heck would want to do your best for people that are unappreciative. Doing your best only rewards the tyrants who crack the whip. Supervisors use you to look good with their boss. It’s pathetic!
Claudia, this is so true. I was perplexed to hear this advice, too. You sure can work bottomless hours following tyrant's commands, feeling nauseatingly depressed and sick to your core with anxiety, so that he/she looks great for corporate, but how is that rewarding to you in any way? I didn't get it either...
Problem is, you can't do your best if you work with haters who try to sabotage you. Sometimes it's best to just quit if you work with sociopathic people.

I have to save this!

SPOT ON. When I get bored and hate my job - my output suffers.
Don't allow your boss and your job to suck you dry.
Thats sooo true thank u Mel
Simple and on point... Thanks Mel :-)
I m appreciated to watch this video so you are our motivational good job(greate)
Well said , thank you 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️
OMG!!! Thank you!
I can't apply this advice. How can i do my best if i hate the job?
My sentiment exactly.
Your question should be, do I give a 2 weeks notice or not?
Good information. But when you're at the point when you feel so beat down and discouraged, it is extremely difficult to show up with a smile. Seems like faking it could work agianst you as well, since deep down you are not being your true self.
Loved this
It's always the job! Because you are not your job! You job is man made and not real life!
if you're in a bad way - anxiety depression etc - largely on in part from hating yur job - then isn't what yur capable of "ie yur best" going to be different than if u're feelig good?
very well said 👏👍🏻🤘🏻
Well said Mel but how should an individual deal with the racism at work especially from their coworkers, you being ignored, they talk with them by whispering. How to deal with the discrimination at work should I leave the job or spoke out but I don’t want to create the envious environment for myself.
Thank you n
thank you
At my current job there is favoritism any advice?

Mel, have you ever heard of people being scanners? Barbara Sher was the first obe to use this term for people who are interested in a diversity of things. you might be one :-)
292Amaterasu I think I also may be one. Thanks for the info!
