I have said it before and I will say it again. I love, love, love your video tutorials. You are my favorite crafter. Everyone I meet who is interested in cardmaking, I recommend they watch/follow your videos. 😍💕👌🌹🌹
Jennifer, Just a big thanks! I've been racking my brain to figure out how to make a prototype for a project that will have a foil embossed linen cover on it. I started googling and bingo, found your videos. You just saved me SO MUCH time and money! I had no idea you could do these things. Right now you're my favorite person in the world!
where was i 2 years ago when this was the in thing? i'm always behind the time but i ordered a bunch of foil from a company at 10 $ a roll for 25 feet of it i thought was an awesome deal! I can't wait to play with this. I got some gorgeous colors. thanks for sharing the technique even tho it's an older video it still helps!
Thanks so much, Jennifer. Always love your videos. I finally just tried this a few minutes ago using my 3-year-old Scotch TL901 laminator (about $25), my 10-year-old OKI C3400 laser printer, plain HP Multipurpose printer paper, and the teal Deco foil I bought at Michael's on clearance a couple months ago, and it worked beautifully after just one pass! WOW! Thanks again!
Thanks Jennifer for all your great ideas and tips. You inspired me this Christmas to ask for a laser printer. I used Photoshop Elements to create a black and white copy from a photo of my granddaughters face. I then printed it with my laser printer and gold foiled it with my laminator. I made her birthday card with that picture. Now I will have to do all the grandkids cards like that. Thanks for helping me to get to that point.
Jennifer I loved this episode on foiling. I just love it. And I've upgraded my pic file and I have a toner laser printer..HP a small one. I do have a very cheap foiling machine and it takes forever to heat up about 13 minutes but once it's heated it's hot. When you use foiling less is more. It is so elegant and brilliant that you don't need a lot to make it stand out. Love these videos and loved Lila's cards...thanks Jennifer.
Love this technique. After Christmas, Michaels had deco foil on sale for about 50 cents a tube. I bought some but when I realized that u can use it on fabric too I went back and bought all of them! Only down side was that they only had red and green. Today I had to make t shirts for my daughters class used the green to do shamrocks and it turned out awesome.
I had no idea this could be done. Thanks so much for posting this. I don't have a laser printer but I do have a laminator so I may try copying these somewhere with a laser printer and giving it a try. Such gorgeous results.
I honestly believed I needed to purchase the Minc machine, so thank you so much for showing me that I can use my laminator for the exact same thing! :D
Omg! This means the Heidi swap minc foil machine is a glorified expensive laminator!? That is crazy, I should've realized! So good to know u can do this with ANY laminator...
Wow didn't know I could use my laminator for a craft awesome. Could someone tell me how to add a public comment without having to reply to a post already present. Love your videos just found you.
Finally got some foil today and then didn't have the carrier folder for the laminator. I used baking paper and it was fine. Had to share. Thanks for all of your great videos.
awesome video as all of yours are.. just a suggestion if anyone has a t shirt heat press you can use that also set for 275F for 10 secs. awesome results.
thank you! I have a large easy press and a A3 heat press, would you recommend, either moving the easy press over the toner simulating the laminator movement or just to use the heat press as pressure would be consistent?
I am so appreciative of all your videos. You are very detailed and so easy to understand. Plus your samples are really beautiful ones. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Hello Jennifer. I stumbled on to your video while researching for a project of my own involving foil. I make cards (what's called "Proxies" for play use for a very popular card game called Yu-Gi-Oh! And I have to say that trying to figure out how they make there cards have been quite difficult, as there is no way, even online, on how they make their cards. Your video was very helpful. If possible, I would like to pick your brain in the future on more projects such as this. Thank You.
Oh my goodness. I literally just bought a laminator (it's still in the box in the office). It's an Amazon basics laminator (does both 3 and 5 mil like yours) and I have a Brother printer. I wanted the Heidi Swapp Minc but as it really only does the one thing wouldn't buy it. I'm soooo excited to try this technique out and see if it works with my machines. I'm just bummed it'll have to wait, I'll be the only person at WDW who can't wait to go back home!
thank you so much Jennifer for this and the previous video on foiling - I have just received my order of the deco foil and an itching to start...thank you so much
I went to the Calico site but couldn't find the free words you recommended. They're for sale at $3.99. thanks for your demo, your very interesting and to the point.x
I remember when this video first came out, and it made me want a laser printer so bad! But I had no excuse to purchase one outside of crafting, and at the time, they were SO expensive (and they still ain’t cheap)! Welp, I finally bought a laser printer for my home office and I bet you can guess the first thing I’m gonna do with it…
While I know this video is several years old, was wondering if you have ever printed on frosted vellum and then foiled? Great video btw, you are a excellent teacher.
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing this technique! I can't wait to try it! I really love the images you used.... however, I tried to link (and download) the Valentine's Day Printable... but they no longer have it available. Is there any way that you could email me the file? I want to use it to make some cards for my family... please let me know. Thanks!
Jennifer, this is brilliant! I am the kind of crafter who's always intimidated by Photoshop and Illustrator, what you just showed inspires me to go and turn on my dinosaur lab top and create a masterpiece! And this sounds like a great way to mass produce cards/tags for other occasions too. May I know if you use Word to edit the Hello Kitty cards for Lila's class exchange? Thanks so much for sharing! xo
not sure but I think for the negative piece of the foil I'd be inclined to cut a panel if adhesive and stick down the foil and then fill in the gaps with either glitter or another foil colour. good idea or not?
Hi Jenni! You make the best video’s! How thick is the paper your laserjet printer takes? And what printer do you use? I would appreciate tips so much. I am afraid the 120 gsm most printers take will be too thin. Thanks beforehand!
Very beautiful, what kind of foil can be used in a laminator? Can the foil quill heat activated foil be used the same way in a laminator instead of using a foil quill pen
Hi I changed my large HP printer to a small epson wifi cordless one -and now I think this epsom is jet? I changed because I had to have leads going everywhere but now everything is cordless? Thank you for sharing this -I love all your videos
This is such a fun idea! As luck would have it I actually own a laser printer. Thanks for posting this tutorial. Can this technique be used with water color, the same way you might add water color to color a heat embossed stamped image or will the foil come off easily? Can it be colored with markers without staining the foil if you accidentally stray from the lines? I am assuming copics are out. If so, what markers do you recommend?
Hello. First of all thanks for sharing this technique for goil foil. This is really helpful. However, I do wan't to know if this result can still be achieve while using a inkjet printer. Did you try it out already? Thanks in advance.
Hi Jennifer!! I love this video and am using this technique to add some foiling to my wedding invitations. I bought the same laminator you use, and I got Minc foil, but my foil product is blotchy with some ink showing through. The ink was printed using a laser printer at kinkos. Any tips? Also, what else can i use to sandwich my invitation in while it's going through the laminator? I used a plain sheet of paper, but the unfoiled ink is pressed onto the plain paper, and then transfers to my next invitation. Thank you!! Thanh
Hi Jennifer, thanks for this wonderful video! Have you experimented with different types of paper? (watercolor paper, cotton paper, ect.) If so, what do you find works the best? Thank you!
Hi Jennifer - I love what you've done with this project. I signed up to Studio Calico and didn't find any of the downloads you've shown :( - any ideas? Love your videos & wait eagerly until the next one comes out
Hi Jennifer, Have you tried to use the deco foil with the laminating technique on a photo printed on cardstock? I have a photo with font that was printed with a laser printer, and I'm trying to figure out if the deco foil would work. Thanks!
I saw this technique on another video which I immediately thought was a great idea so tried it out but it didn't work because what the video didn't say was that you need a laser printer or toner card or some transfer gel or another technique is using double sided tape so now there's no stopping me now xx
Hello Jennifer, i would like to print multiple copies of invitation with metallic foil letter. Can i just use 1 laser printed pattern for all of this and reuse that during lamination? thank you!
quick question, I was watching another youtubber do a similar project, but they stated that the foil needed to be a gold reactive foil, or whatever the color being used, but the foil needed to be reactive foil. What is your advice, thanks in advance.
Your videos are so inspiring. So glad i don't have to go out to buy a new laminator. I just have one question, and i hope this answer isn't right in front of my eyes. What is typing paper (is it just normal printing paper, if not, where can i get some)? That might be more than one question. LOL. Please advise.
Great technique! Do you have to get the foil on and laminate it quickly? Or can you print a bunch of things, and get to the foiling some time later (like a month or more)
Really really cool. I was thinking about investing in a laminator and this video sealed my decision to get one. I did not know that you could do so much ! GREAT!!! Avalon
Hi Jennifer, I just saw this and know it is old, but can you tell me if you have to print the image and foil it right away? Or can it be a while later that you put the image through the laminator with the foil? Thanks!
Just a note everyone!!: I just bought a nice little 8.5" x 11" laminator (that came with 30 laminating pouches) at my local Aldi grocery store for $15 about a week ago and it works great!!!! I would have never thought they had stuff like that but they had all kinds of crafting supplies!!! You all might want to look there if you're in the market for one!!!
Can you apply foil to glass? I am using stencils to etch glass and think adding some color foil might be nice... I just wonder what it would take to make it stick. Might make for an interesting test.
that was awesome quality stamp image u made.. thumbs up.. i got a question..hope u can answer can i use gold foil using your technic into other surface like thin leather rexine surface?
So if mine don’t come out perfect rather more like a tiger stripes or grunge with noise is the problem with the quality of the foil I am using? I got mine from China not using the brand you use. Will you get the same results if you stamp a regular sheet of paper? That what I tired it on!?
Helloo!! What if you foil into shimmer paper? I mean shiny paper/cardstock, like pearled, have you tried it? Have you the same results? Would you try one and make a video with this kind ig paper for your recommendations? I would be so thankful.
I love the fact you have the links to the supplies you use in your videos.
I am so inspired, simply Ammazzing!! I feel that everyone will get sick of me once I get my hands on this project, foil everywhere LOL.
I have said it before and I will say it again. I love, love, love your video tutorials. You are my favorite crafter. Everyone I meet who is interested in cardmaking, I recommend they watch/follow your videos. 😍💕👌🌹🌹

Wow! When you started describing this technique, I was overwhelmed. When I saw you demonstrate it, I KNEW I could do it! Thank you!
What a quick and easy technique. As you said it is great for quick cards too.

OMG that is so beautiful! U are such an enabler Miss Jennifer!! Lol
I have tried to find instructions to do foiling forever. Great video learned so much. Thank you

Hi Jennifer, I love love your videos, i always learn so much. This technique is super great, especially when you have kids. Keep up the great work!
That was so much fun! To watch your video and then go make cards using your method. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
Got some excellent organizational ideas. Thanks for sharing
I honestly believed I needed to purchase the Minc machine, so thank you so much for showing me that I can use my laminator for the exact same thing! :D
Jennifer, thanks so, so much for showing how to use Word for printing out images in toner ink to use for foiling. SO HELPFUL TO ME! TFS
Thanks for this video! Helping a friend on her DIY wedding stuff. Will try it on save-the-dates or even wedding invitations.
so I learned something new today that I will try before I use it for a clients wedding I have coming up. thanks for the information.
Omg! This means the Heidi swap minc foil machine is a glorified expensive laminator!? That is crazy, I should've realized! So good to know u can do this with ANY laminator...
Gavi S no it is super high quality and does big sheets. great product.

Fabulous...love the Hello Kitty cards, too.
Jen... what a great idea! I'm thinking of so many projects now.... Thank you!
So fun to do.I have to admit I've been saving to get a printer.Very addicting and so pretty.
Awesome. They turned out so pretty. I don't have a laminator but I do have a heat press. Going to try that.

You could also use the laminator to put that negative space foil on another solid toner sheet. It gives this awesome black and gold look.
I love this technique. It's so simple but looks amazing. They look like shop bought cards.
Love this and looking to help daughter with wedding invitations. Can you run the foil print back through a printer to add none foil areas?
The foil is gorgeous! Thanks for the how to. Going to try this soon
thank you so much Jennifer for this and the previous video on foiling - I have just received my order of the deco foil and an itching to start...thank you so much

I have the same printer! YAAAY! Can't wait to try this technique.
I remember when this video first came out, and it made me want a laser printer so bad! Hi I changed my large HP printer to a small epson wifi cordless one -and now I think this epsom is jet? I changed because I had to have leads going everywhere but now everything is cordless? Thank you for sharing this -I love all your videos
This is a great video, thank you! For more intricate designs could you print and foil an element then print in black around or on top of the foil?
Truly amazing and very simple explained- thank you so much!
Hi Jennifer, I would love to know if this would work on BLACK or any other color cardstock?
+Elizabeth Romero yes it does! she shows in another video :) (just make sure to use black toner with your printer)
extremely cool, tfs with your insights! you mentioned using the laminator for other stuff, what else craft wise can you do with it?
This is such a fun idea! As luck would have it I actually own a laser printer. Thanks for posting this tutorial. I thought this technique would be really difficult. I'm glad to see it's not! I can't wait to try it! Thank you!
Hi Jennifer, thanks for this wonderful video! Have you experimented with different types of paper? (watercolor paper, cotton paper, ect.) If so, what do you find works the best? Thank you!
Your explanations are well done. thank you
Probably dumb question but does this work on black paper? Does it matter what color you print on?
really liked this can you use any sort of foil or does it have to craft foil
Hi Jennifer - I love what you've done with this project. I signed up to Studio Calico and didn't find any of the downloads you've shown :( - any ideas? Love your videos & wait eagerly until the next one comes out
Cathy Barrett www.studiocalico.com/digital/free
Gorgeous!!! Do you ever tape down the foil or have issue with slippage? It looked so close when you did the 2 toned “Birthday Wishes”.
Hi Jennifer,
Have you tried to use the deco foil with the laminating technique on a photo printed on cardstock? I have a photo with font that was printed with a laser printer, and I'm trying to figure out if the deco foil would work.
Thanks!
Hi! Your videos are fantastic! I was wondering if you have any advice for spot foil wedding invitations?
I saw this technique on another video which I immediately thought was a great idea so tried it out but it didn't work because what the video didn't say was that you need a laser printer or toner card or some transfer gel or another technique is using double sided tape so now there's no stopping me now xx
Hello Jennifer, i would like to print multiple copies of invitation with metallic foil letter. Can i just use 1 laser printed pattern for all of this and reuse that during lamination? thank you!

+Pastor Michele Riley interesting question! i want to know aswell! :P
Your videos are so inspiring. So glad i don't have to go out to buy a new laminator. I just have one question, and i hope this answer isn't right in front of my eyes. What is typing paper (is it just normal printing paper, if not, where can i get some)? That might be more than one question. LOL. Please advise.
Kimberly Nguyen normal copy paper. thin stuff.
Awesome idea? Can I use gilding sheets instead of the gold transfer paper
Hi Jennifer, when i run mine through the lamination only some of the foil is sticking to the image.
Looks great! Would it be possible to hold the foil onto the artwork/paper with maybe a washi tape?
Great technique! Do you have to get the foil on and laminate it quickly? Or can you print a bunch of things, and get to the foiling some time later (like a month or more)
Really really cool. I was thinking about investing in a laminator and this video sealed my decision to get one. I did not know that you could do so much ! GREAT!!! Avalon
Hi Jennifer, I just saw this and know it is old, but can you tell me if you have to print the image and foil it right away? Or can it be a while later that you put the image through the laminator with the foil? Thanks!
Does it matter how fast you use the paper after you print it? Or can you print something and still use this technique days later?
mullett52 they say you can wait. shouldn't matter, according to the company.
You all might want to look there if you're in the market for one!!!
this is so beautiful and amazing! thank u ver much for sharing!!!♥♥♥
Hi, I get a lot of black spots or patches when I do this, how can I avoid this or what must I change? I’m using decofoil and a laminator 😊
Helloo!!
What if you foil into shimmer paper? I mean shiny paper/cardstock, like pearled, have you tried it? Have you the same results? Would you try one and make a video with this kind ig paper for your recommendations?
I would be so thankful.
Jennifer thanks for sharing this technique. Does it work with glossy/pearly card stock and vellum?
tifgoosie it should work on any paper
