Wow! Zermatt has to be the greatest of starts for the new season. Thanks for the glorious views of the Matterhorn. The snow sounded good, even on the shadow side. You are living my dream. I sure hope I can finish this novel I'm writing before the season is over. I feel like I'm stuck at home doing homework while all the other kids are in Switzerland ogling the Matterhorn.
This one sunny day popped out of the forecast, so I took advantage of it in Zermatt but since not too many good days, just had some rain and I'm in France now making videos, only one day of skiing so far. It's not as ideal as it looks ;-)
Cheers Dan! Yes, this route gives the best Matterhorn view so far. No, never feel lonely, I love the skiing, the scenery and the challenges, plus I also focus on capturing good footage. A good dopamine releaser ;-)
Zermatt seems to be cruisey runs, and that red was quite mellow. Looks like I'll need some skis that won't chatter, which means a stiffer ski, might even have to splash out and get some Stockli Montero AX, or the Kastle equivalent. Mum left me and my brothers some money, so I have enough, and I only want at my age a one ski quiver.
Yes, when you start in January, it is more likely that the snow will be icy, at least by the end of the day, so stiffer skis will give you better edge grip, as you already know... so it's better to be prepared...
@@ChasingSnow I was thinking of the 2025 season, this 2024 season will be my first and a learn to ski season, so it'll be standard skis, thou for the 2024 season it'll be spending £325 on standard rental skis, which are for beginners till I improve but are to soft for quick cruising, and not to rent intermediate ski's that maybe to much ski for me at this time. Thou after this season depending how I've got on I'll possibly want some ski's I can progress with hence better to have a stiffer ski so that I won't out grow it. I'll be going to 'Glide and Slide' in Oakley next may to see what the guy say before I decide what make to invest in in July August.
@@Puzzoozoo you've done a lot of research, time to get out soon and get the feel for it... nice and slow I think... just remember conditions may not be ideal in January, the snow tends to be softer in March onwards (except maybe mornings)...
@@ChasingSnow Yeah, soo much research to get prepared, and yes, a little over 3 weeks to go before I start my 'skiing' journey'. As for the snow conditions, you use what nature gives you. So long as its not slush or solid ice it'll do for my first season.
@@piotrcharvelmajka Oh, now I get it. It's sitting in my van, unused. Why? I didn't check the features otherwise I wouldn't have purchased it. Do you know why? It's no use to me without this feature... It's more like a downgrade than an upgrade and the 11 is just as good at capturing footage...
@@ChasingSnow I knew it ;-) I, unfortunately, am against overlays in ski videos - as I explained it once, the data extracted from the GPS is inaccurate and shows values that are not true ( speed and altitude, especially altitude, because it is on the basis of elevation that speed is calculated ). And on the subject of skiing - I was surprised at how quickly you moved once you took the cogwheel railroad up to Gornergat - there's a great view of the glacier tongue descending from the peaks of Lyskamm and the surrounding Monte Rosa :)

Which camera are you using? What frame rate are you shooting in?
GoPro 11... I capture at 60fps and the highest quality but release at 30fps
