Just a tip, don't carry two compasses carry three. If you suspect ones failed, you'll never be able to tell which one is right. With three you'll be able to tell which one is different, it's unlightly two will fail. Thats why aircraft always have three.

There are pencil sharpeners with two holes of different sizes available. Used one for years. It is not for making kindling, but for making tender. Break a small dead branch off a tree even in a rain storm. Peal off wet bark and what is left is a dry wood stick ready to be sharpened into tender.

The pencil sharpener is a nice idea, but they take only rather small sticks. There are special ones available for Carpenters pencils. If you take out the rotating insert, you can feed 14mm-sticks in. Nice consistant shavings, no featherstick-skills required. They come with a tiny sharpening stone glued to the body - may work for touching up your blades too.
I never carry nail clippers - instead I use a sapphire file, break off the handle and round the back with a Dremel diamond wheel, - works as a sharpener as well, if you keep it wet (cold).

Hey bro! Surely add a flexible bandage or compressed gauze to your kit. In case you get a big cut its gonna help a lot. Duct tape isn't gonna stop the bleeding. compressed gauzes are tiny and in the woods an absolute nessecity in case of emergency.

Great setup. +1 for having it broken up into tiers depending on what the situation demands.
Add a small packet of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to your "morale booster" pack: 1/4 tsp salt + 1/4 tsp bicarb + 2 tablespoons sugar per litre of boiled water is the ideal electrolyte replacement mix.
    Also needs more coffee :P
I carry No-Doz caffeine tablets in my survival kit - I know what I'm like with caffeine deprivation in the safety of my own home, no desire whatsoever to experience it while surviving in the bush.
    YMMV, of course.
Fully agree on having a comfortable night's sleep. You can't survive properly if you're fatigued all the time. I have an inflatable ultra light Exped Down Mat, packs up smaller than my sleeping bag, including the little pump that comes with it. Rated to -12 degrees Celsius so even if the ground is freezing, I'm not going to lose any body heat to it.
Really enjoyed the video. Definitely adding a pencil sharpener to my survival kit.

I use an airsoft mag drop pouch attached to my belt for collecting nicks and knacks on my walk to camp and during camp. Tinder or various bush foods. It's pretty good because the inside is in two parts so can be turned inside out like a pocket to clean, and is mostly water proof.

You should carry at least 100’ of paracord in all of your kits. The inner strands can be used as fire tinder, thread, fishing line, suture material, shelter, attaching your blade to a staff to make a spear, making a bow string for hunting wild game, and even shoe/boot laces.

I carry 6 cakes of pemmican, it don't weigh much and It's enough to get me by for quite a while especially if I am foraging, trapping or fishing along the way.
We have similar kits except I do not carry a small pocket system. I carry my daypack in a canvas messenger pouch. I carry my large kit in a canvas back pack. I will tie my wool blanket onto my pack, or if I am carrying the messenger bag I carry the blanket on a strap across the opposite shoulder.

nice lay out man but I must say I was a little disappointed. You didn't follow the common pattern of most all other survival pack videos on youtube, where a 15 minute video consist of 14 minutes describing the bag in detail and 1 minute rushing through the same old stuff that everyone else has. Next time take the almost the entire video talking about your bag and then your gear in the last few seconds and you will probably get more views and like as that seems to be the general pattern anyway

If you and a gf go out. Just use the same sleepin bag eh?

    • @mikewhitaker2880

army used to have an interesting tent setup... of course they trained using the buddy system.. either way each person carried half a tent.. stakes included... they were a pain in the arse to setup sometimes.. but worked pretty damn good.... and if you were the odd man out .. well depended on the unit.. you either had to carry 2 tent halves or shack up with 2 other dudes.. or get smart enough to find a way to use 1 half tent as a whole tent... either way.. the tent/shelter system you use is up to how much do you want to lug around..how comfortable you want to be.. how well you handle small spaces.. and how big your wallet is....
