My 97 3rd gen blew it's head gasket after 25 years and 341k miles of daily driver duty. I paid almost $1900 for a newer engine to be installed and it runs great now. These old trucks are worth keeping on the road and maintenance money is way better than a car payment

Kudos to your battery. I have started my cars (Ford's, Chevy's, Hyundai's) at much lower temps(-40s) here in Canada easily on the first try without block heaters(so it's not a Toyota or Lexus thing, any modern car will start easily). However when temps drop too low, it's always recommended to use Battery warmers & chargers, Block Heaters & appropriate engine oil, so as to reduce pollution & aid in a faster warmup.
