I shot traditional archery for years, roving through the mountains of Colorado. But then travelled too much for work and fell out of it. Watching Jim and Jeff Kavanaugh inspired me to get at it again. They are also helping me break some bad habits born from shooting heavy bows....I bought a lighter longbow, set up my new target, and have been shooting for 3 days now on my property....such a wonderful sport.

The flight of an arrow is just a thing of beauty. You are right, there is no such thing as a bad day of archery. Be blessed my friend.

Excellent thoughts, great music, and fun to watch. On days when I am frustrated because my shooting is not so great, I think to myself; the day will come when I can't walk the woods, pull a bow, and marvel over the beauty of what I am doing but today is not that day. I then count my self blessed by God, and look for my next target.

Only been doing archery a short while but have learnt so much from your videos. I am more interested in the instinctive and hoping to get a flat bow in January. I know of one place I can go and pay to shoot 3D but that is all. It would be great if on some of your videos you could say where you are and if it is private or you can book and pay to shoot there. Will definitely be ordering a Grizzly string when I get a AFB

What about a metalic detector? When we clean up our parcour before the winter we use one. So we can clean up the woods from lost arrows. Last cleanup we found !50 arrows of our guests. I have a friend his job is to find dangerous things in the ground. I lent us ohne of his detectors. Nothing for privatees. Costs aprox 5000€ (5000$).

Jim - How is the shelf cut on that bodnik signature? In video it looks to be about 1/8th inch cut before center? You said you were shooting high to the left. A little more cant might help. Split finger and/or three under looks like that bow would easily produce a 20 inch gap at 20 yards. Thanks and great video.

    Hi Jim,
Having done Archery here and there approx 15+ years ago, I have just started getting into Archery as a full time hobby and doing target archery with a Recurve at my local club. I'm really interested in traditional and instinctive archery, and 3D style courses. Very handily there is one close by that is NFAS approved.
At what stage would you say it was acceptable to be able to shoot a 3D course? Can someone who's literally just come out of their club joining course take part or attend a 3D course?
Also I currently have a Cartel Fantom recurve bow, is this allowed on a NFAS / 3D Course? Not sure how regulated it is etc.
    Thanks,
    Chris.
