The 2026 FIA Formula one car has been shown! One of the bigger changes is the new DRS/MOM system! MOM stands for Manuel Override Mode and is the successor of DRS (drag reduction system). This system is created to make overtaking even easier!
The Drag Reduction System - which has been a feature of grand prix racing since 2011 - will be no more from the end of next season. Instead it will be replaced by F1’s new ‘Manual Override Mode’. But what is it? And how does it work? I will showcase it to you in this video!

I'm sure they'll tweak the regs next year. The 2022 cars were also a few seconds slower compared to the 2021 cars. Now you can look at them, faster. I'm not saying it'll become the same, in theory, I think it won't be, but they can try to close the gap.
Slighly slower lap time, but faster on the straights
Pretty terrible on the high speed corners... Which I think should remain high since that is really what sets them apart from all other motorsport. Lots of racecars can go fast in a straight line, but none come and should come close to F1. And for anyone to mention 919 evo, the evo is a purpose built track car not a race car.
Although this is a Simulator and might not be the perfect simulation of how these 2026 cars will behave, you can really see that this car is relay unstable in straight lines
I think some of you have forgotten that the regulations are going to be constantly tweaked before we reach 2026.
Is this the Assetto Corsa mod that came out the other day? The one that is only represents the looks of the car but not the performance? How are you comparing lap times then? Is the new active aero working?
Slower cars = better racing and maybe make it harder to drive
We don’t need slower cars we need a tighter field. As you can see the field has been pretty tight in the last couple races and they’ve been gold ESPECIALLY canada
Did you see how 2026 takes corners? I don't see any overtakes happening on them. So your whole "racing" will be push 2 pass overtakes on longer straights. So fun.

OK. So, all cars will become Williams (fast on the straights, slow on the corners and slower overall).

Finally a realistic mod. But I don't believe it will be so slow, in the first year it will be, but from 27 to 30 the cars will evolve a lot, and could be as fast or even faster than those of now.
its not realistic, it was pumped out within 3 days of the announcement. the same way the fhx22 was not accurate... this isnt accurate

I think the mod is wrong, because the media said will have 6 gears. But I don't know 100% because I didn't see all rules
Faster or not, I just hope that this change will drastically change our mode of transportation forever, its time for the transition to Hydrogen EV, Hydrogen ICEs, Efuel Engines, EVs to make an appearance at the end of this decade, there should not be overpriced hybrids, EVs, or anything mentioned above, I just hope the technology is relevant for road cars so we wont have to hear these "environmentalists" being annoying just because the transition is "slow". People should realize that tech takes an unbelieveably long time to R&D, money included, its not as easy as making a product in the garrage and youre done, its a matter of we can mass produce that product, hence making it cheaper over time. The reason EVs prices and other propulsion based vehicles are decreasing in price is the R&D is getting much more efficient thanks to F1 and other motorsports such as LMDH.
