Having lived with someone getting their PHD and the years following their defense and post doc, it’s astounding to me how this guy gave up years of incredibly hard work because he didn’t want to invest in noise cancelling headphones or, you know, fucking moving somewhere else. Both are minor inconveniences compared to losing your entire life’s work and murdering an entire family. Wild.
The fact that he is doing that knowing that there is a baby living there is absolutely terrifying. He gives off very strong serial killer vibes. He needs to stay locked up.
How the guy didn’t get charged with attempted murder is beyond me. If the dad didn’t install cameras to find out the source of the smell, it very well could’ve killed their newborn. Downright evil intentions he had.
@@seagoddess9937 It's crazy to me that you even have to say "if." He literally premeditated murder and carried it out for weeks and the fact that he might not be charged with attempted murder or potentially even see a trial and jail time is a dark reflection of how fucked our justice system is. Possession of a controlled substance? Aggravated stalking? What?
@@TGIFrank It will be fine no matter how it plays out? remember the 16-year-old that intentionally tried to kill a mother and her newborn with his car? they gave him 7 months in juvie and when he got out the streets shot him to death. this guy also will be in a VERY bad situation if he gets off scott free. The streets will take care of him.

@@seagoddess9937 Right I understood you and I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm saying it's crazy that he might not have a trial for multiple clear cut counts of attempted murder.
The fact that his 'solution' was to spray chemicals into the apartment and make everyone sick, which would have made the baby cry even more, just proves how psychotic he really is
The "Chemicals" were drugs that can make people sleepy. He probably thought it would knock them out. Hydrocodone is simply Vicodin/Norco. Probably thought it would make the baby sleep.
@@CurieBohr Yep. That's probably what he was trying. Still there has to be something else in that mix as squirting those in like that would not do anything. He's a chemist so he probably mixed them with something else.
In most scenarios, "Setting up a hidden camera because you think your neighbour is injecting chemicals under your door to make you sick" is the kind of thing that would get YOU branded as the 'Crazy Neighbour', but in this case the guy was completely right, and probably saved his family!
My guess is he might have been thinking someone was bringing a pet or somthing by the door that was causing the smell. I bet after a while he noticed it strongest near the door. My thought would be, "maybe someones dog is pissing on my door".
the idea is .. that wasn't the first time something like that happened, Stories similar to this happen from time to time ... and probably this is not that dude's idea .. probably when he was asking ppl and friends around him for wut he should do about his condition one of his friends tell him to do that just in case if someone was after him .. because maybe he was living there for the longest time, why all of sudden that smile suddenly appear from no where and only in his house !!!??? .... it pretty reasonable to me if someone tell him to install a camera there or he start to have a doubt about the ppl around him ... or maybe that was the landowner idea since that is his building and that is also his property so he may asked him to do that just in case since we also don't know the full story of wut exactly happens ... we should have more awareness always to better understand a situations like these wut is the best to do and wut is the best analysis with giving everyone their own fair share of understandable reasoning
A crazy neighbor trying to kill the nearby residents is such a common occurrence, that its also common sense to have cameras setup where-ever. Its not paranoia as much as it is just extra security.
he didn't save anything, those two drugs aren't airborne and would do nothing if you pumped a few mg's under a door, you get methadone in pharmacies. Why don't people shopping in pharmacies die? because it wouldn't work.
Or you are like Fritz Haber and do both. First he invented the ammonia synthesis which made it possible to even feed the huge society we have right now. When world war I began he invented the first chemical gas weapon, which also gave him the title "father of gas warfare".
as a former USF grad student, the most surprising thing about this is that someone enrolled at that University was competent enough in their field to actually hurt somebody.
The fact that so many people in these stories are so willing to throw away a highly successful life over things as petty as annoying neighbors never fails to astonish me.
I had a friend who risked it all over a college girl who was seeing a Chad behind his back. One night, the Chad disappeared into a limo and was never seen again, and my friend, the local police's main suspect, had to leave the country. He lives in Bolivia now.

They should be fine. Fortunately, they won’t have been exposed to enough to cause any real damage or even addiction. Those substances can cause breathing issues, though. But that’s temporary.
the thought of charlie politely knocking on his window in the hope that it would disperse a bunch of horny frogs is both incredibly funny and wholesome and that is why i watch his vids
I saw this the other day. It’s disturbing to know people like that are out roaming. Thank goodness he set up that hidden camera and caught that weirdo.
I get that a child constantly crying and screaming is annoying after some time (my sibling was always loud and cried to try and get their way) but what this guy did is disgusting and he's clearly not okay in the head.
I used to have a neighbor myself with 2 babies next door when I was a student so I know how annoying it is to have constant crying while trying to study or finish my assignments and parents seemingly not making any effort to calm the babies down I just put on my headphones and blasted music instead of poisoning them though
Please be aware that some babies are colic which is very common. It’s when babies cry for no obvious reason, and there's little to nothing a parent can do. It's absolute torture for the parents too. Also, a lot of noise problems are caused by cheaply made buildings with thin walls and floors. I once lived in a building like this and the downstairs neighbours always complained when we used the washing machine during the middle of the day and also that I walked too loud.
That assumes that you knew the baby was his target which you don't so........ How do you know it wasn't the piece of s***Parents who let their child cry All night every night

Possession of controlled substance and aggravated stalking sound like a 2 maybe even 1 year sentence. He should get attempted murder and get 20 so he’s at least in there for 10.
I am genuinely impressed with how he figured out what was happening, that the cause of his family getting sick was his neighbors "injecting poison'" into his apartment is just wild, out of all the possible outcomes it was this, and out of all the possible solution that the fraud chemist thought of, instead of padding his apartment, talking to his neighbors about the noise, perhaps even try different sleeping techniques, this was what he thought of, poison. hope the affected fellow and his family can rest easy and hopefully that baby isn't harmed growing up.
It sounds like they tried all sorts of things beforehand. They thought there was something leaking from their water pipes or gas etc and contacted the landlord. They mentioned the smell so it’s possible they noticed that the smell is worst near the front door. It’s possible they saw a small puddle of liquid there too. Personally, my guess would’ve been an insect or an animal but that would also require a camera to see what’s causing it. I wouldn’t say that was luck or paranoia. Seems pretty reasonable (especially with sudden, intense symptoms followed by a new smell)
I think they found the smell to be strongest at the door. So they understood that someone from outside was doing it. Placing the camera there caught the culprit.
I can’t believe he got such a nothing sentence. Aggravated stalking? He at least wanted to cause harm, if not outright kill the baby/family. He got away light.
I feel you on that, but you can probably take comfort in knowing he most likely ruined his chances at getting that PhD. Pretty sure stalking and attempting to murder a family will get you booted from most PhD programs. Maybe that's wishful thinking, but I'm gonna choose to believe it
@@dboone7670 honestly should boot him from any sort of work in chemistry. It's obviously a terrible idea to give this guy access to any controlled substance
I can’t imagine the shock and horror the family had when first watching this video. That first realisation that someone has been actively trying to kill you and your baby for weeks.
I think it’s a stretch to assume that his intent was murder. More likely, he was going for breathing issues that would cause them to leave. Still, he absolutely did put their lives in danger.
@@Notlordstark understandable but what happens when they dont leave? i highly highly doubt someone poisoning a family to make them leave would stop because it didnt work imo his next step is murder and a child breathing in chemicals like that purposely by a chemist is attempted murder i would say not on the parents who can handle it but not they baby

Looks like our chemical Asian here is going to get to pay off that entire water heater too... since he's responsible for it being purchased. I hope it was expensive. Cunt deserves destitution.
Most landlords are decent, most people will treat your stuff nicely if you nice to them. But the bad ones are way more pronouced. If you have a good landlord you aint gonna hop on reddit to praise them for doing what you pay them to do.
This should be the norm among landlords, it shouldn’t even be commendable, simply expected. I held myself to a high standard when I was a landlord and really tried to help out. I have two kids now, but when we lived in an apartment block, we had become good friends with neighbours who had their first newborn. Never did I think about going full Walter White and poisoning them. What an insane guy.
I sympathize with them not because I have kids of my own but because I used to work at a daycare. I've been in thst situation where you do everything you can to calm them and they still cry. I viewed them similar to my little cousins.

As a tall guy, I have the utmost respect for shorter guys that embrace it. Like if I’m at the supermarket and a guy in his 20’s or 30’s asks me for a hand grabbing something off the top shelf, I’m always impressed. Guy is definitely a level of secure that I myself am not.
Not in my experience. They always pretend they want help, but then they start shouting things like "Why are you picking me up?" when you try to help them get things off the top shelf.
Being comfortable with your size is a sign of maturity. So many guys try to compensate for shortness or narrow shoulders by getting buff, and they end up looking like oompa loompas on steroids.
Honestly that fact that Charlie didn't say, "That's about it, see ya." caught me so off guard. The next video started playing and I got whiplash from the lack of a send off
That's textbook psychopathy Having said that, baby cries, especially when they last a long time, are designed by nature to be the most annoying thing your ears can hear. I've lived through two of my own. I've known of a few moms who had incessantly crying babies that were at the border of murderous thoughts about their own child.
The sound of fresh newborn life being started and beginning it’s journey yet to cause any harm or to be influenced negatively, ready to start it’s story annoys me to the point of murdering it and those responsible for it!!!! I’m off to kick a squirrel for being furry
My oldest was 6 weeks early and had bad colic for 6 months 😬 yes they can make you crazy. But you are willing to die for that baby so what is a little exhaustion in the long run 😅
This is terrible. I cannot believe someone would resort to this type of deplorable behavior just because a baby was crying. I hope the family is ok and that that guy goes to jail.
Yeah, that's because he's a fucking psychopath. Any normally sane person in any way shape or form would just deal with it, it's a baby, baby's cry. THIS is something unhinged, INSANE people do while thinking it's perfectly okay. So yeah I hope he goes to jail as well 500%
I would imagine it was not "just because" The baby wouldn't stop crying, and more along the lines of it would never stop. This is where you find out negligent parents are just as obvious as criminals
@@kejadventures241 i think it is more likely that the baby wouldn’t stop crying no matter what the parents did rather than the parents neglecting the child. and even then, the guy should have called cps or talked to the neighbors about it rather then shooting chemicals into their house. you do have somewhat of a point, as we dont know much about the parents, but i think then being neglectful is unlikely.

Noise is one of those things that can surprising drive someone over the edge when it comes to someone who is already crazy. There used to occasionally be small biker meetups on my street once a week, and they would only hangout for about 10 minutes to meet up before leaving to go elsewhere. Their bikes weren't even the really loud type, but my neighbor would get so infuriated by the noise of the motorcycles that he would violently kick his own window from the inside just because the sound made him want to break something. I don't know what exactly he was dealing with mentally, but he used to threaten to call the police and everything. All just because of a few bikes on the street for less than 10 minutes. Thank God that dude never had kids.
You probably just didn't realize how loud the bikes actually were. Likely because you had been around them too long and they caused hearing damage. Loud people almost never seem to realize they are being discourteous to those around them.
@@SB-yw4qo I agree with where you're coming from in general, but I'm never around bikes normally, and I don't have hearing damage. The only time I hear bikes is once every week or two when one happens to drive down the street. The bikes in this situation were the relatively quiet types, not like the loud choppers or whatever. Less than 10 minutes of hearing a couple of them from a block down the street is not enough to justify having a meltdown and breaking your own window.
At the place where my son and I used to live, one of our neighbors would get blasted every Saturday afternoon and sit out on her porch talking loudly to one of the other neighbors and cackling like a cartoon witch. There is, the issue is not baby crying, the issue is the noise coming into neighboring units with such intensity. If it is loud above 45dB in your neighbors units it means that your unit lacks sound insulation. Sound is not magic, and you are responsible for the sound you are making in your unit.

This story hits especially hard for me, because I have very serious sound-related issues. You name it, I have it: hyperacusis, misophonia, my ADHD and anxiety tie into it, and I don't mean for this to sound like a cop-out because I realize people DO fake this, but I have seriously considered getting evaluated professionally for ASD. Something like a lawnmower can make me genuinely despondent for the entire day, if I'm not careful with my reaction to it. I truly suffered from this for years, and now thankfully I live on a dead end with my loving girlfriend and I have my own very quiet space in that house that blocks out even most things like fireworks. Prior to figuring all this out and working VERY hard on myself though, I lived on a really terrible street with needles on the sidewalk, people screaming at each other, fully untrained giant dogs, motorcycles and trucks modified to be as loud as humanly possible, you name it. And my front door was, no exaggeration, about 18 feet from the road. The house was old, the floors were wood, I was fully subjected to all of it at all times. I slept in earplugs. I fully modified one room to be a "white noise chamber" but it ended up damaging my ears from being too loud. It got so bad that I eventually moved my entire life down into the basement, and where the upstairs floor wasn't completely bare, it was just for show. Before figuring out my system, I would be woken up constantly, all night, every night. In my most obsessive state, I once collected an entire day of data and figured out that, on average, a sound that could pierce through my earbuds that were actively playing music happened every 1-minute-26-seconds. It was brutal. And I never hurt anyone. I never confronted anyone. I only asked one guy to turn down his music one time, and that was in year 1 out of 5. The irony of the whole situation? I had this neighbor I was friends with for years, but I secretly was very upset with him because he was one of the motorcycle guys. Word obviously eventually got out, and you know what he did? He started coasting his motorcycle past my house, wouldn't start it until he was past me (in the grand scheme it didn't help much, but the gesture was so important to me). People really don't MEAN to be a problem most of the time, even in bad areas, and I truly believe that. So, what I'm saying here is that I hope this embarrassment of a PhD student rots forever, because if I can get through what I did without so much as being confrontational, he is trash for literally attempting murder.
If what you are experiencing is just moderate-high levels of sensory problems and attention span deficits/hyperactivity then I wouldn’t consider getting an ASD evaluation since it would most likely be a misdiagnosis if so, OCD, ADHD, ASD, and sometimes certain anxieties have sensitive sensory issues in different environments. Pure Autism traits and features that wouldn’t lead to a misdiagnosis would be; -Severe or close to severe repetitive behaviour, habits, activities. -‘Self-soothing’ via by what I stating above and/or stimming to a degree that is uncontrollable at times even out in public it’s impossible to mask out in a public scenario (typically lvl 2/3 ASD) -Very noticeable social deficits in social communication and often needs either patience or support helping with it due to miscommunication or misunderstanding on either end of the conversation. -For ASD levels 1+2, typically will have a NOTICEABLE lack of expression that can correspond to stale, monotone, stoic, or even robotic through common conversation. (I would add lack of eye contact aswell but it kinda links with adhd inattentive type) -Also irregular speech patterns, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, always seems to have an awkward tone of rhythm. Hopes this helps at all, there are so many diagnoses out there nowadays maybe symptoms overlap each other, they say 50-80% of people with ASD have ADHD like symptoms, and 20-50% of ADHD experience autism symptoms, i usually frond upon adhd+autism diagnosis because they are the same yet different, 70%+ of adhd and autism symptoms are linked, so I almost consider adhd as an autism-lite, biggest difference that separates them are the same symptoms that make the difference between black and white. Adhd craves novelty and new experiences; while ASD craves routine and consistency. Adhd can be hyperactive and impulsive; While ASD is usually more composed and emotionally dense. Adhd typically is more social and outgoing; while ASD is more to themselves, desires social isolation and lacks interest in relationships I can list a few more, but symptoms that don’t overlap with each other are as different as black and white, that why when Asperger’s was still diagnosable, ADHD, must be out the picture or cannot be diagnosed in the future. Even now, adhd will affect your chance of an ASD diagnosis due to similarities. Conclusion, sorry for the paragraphs, one of my hobbies is mental illness/developmental disorder diagnosis research and educating people on what they mean. Sorry again for not addressing the rest of what you have to say aswell lol. I have mild-moderate ASD and have ALOT of similarities with adhd and social anxiety, however, with ASD typically those symptoms are included, I do understand what you’re coming from because I’ve been there myself to a degree.
Just fyi might wanna check out embrace autism if you haven’t yet- it’s a really great site, with lots of tests and good measures for neurodivergent folks to consider.

He's Chinese. Of course he feels absolutely nothing while attempting to kill several people including a baby. That's how they are. They've been that way for thousands of years. Bringing them to America won't make them stop being who they are. We don't have magic dirt.
Dude was trying to have them die in a way that would show as an overdose on drugs basically. If the family had died, 100% he would never have been caught. How he even got liquid hydrocodone and methadone is a scary question in itself.
Methadone as a liquid is more common than in tablet form, and hydrocodone simply would be used as you would prepare an IV shot (crushed, add water in cooker/spoon, add heat, pull up into syringe through a cotton filter - voila, liquid form of a pill). If you mean how did this guy have access to these medications (regardless of form), he was in school, right? Maybe he was working towards being an MD and had access to these drugs. Otherwise, the black market is available to anyone, so that's always a possibility. Who knows? I think the focus should be on how little this story checks out. That is, not at all. Liquid opiates squirted under a door will do nothing. They will not vaporize and affect anyone whatsoever. That's just common sense, assuming you know anything about these substances or basic pharmacology/chemistry in general. Moreover, they wouldn't smell like noxious fumes. At most you'd smell that gross cherry medicine smell or something from the methadone (comparable to the smell of NyQuil, not offensive chemicals). This stuff wouldn't be detectable, let alone harmful. How would it possibly get into their system this way? The drugs wouldn't be anything more than a functionally inert wet spot by someone's front door. There's no delivery method. No way to absorb anything. How... wut. I had a crazy old lady neighbor who called the cops on me every week for a year straight for noise. She did it weather I was there or not, even left threats and notes on my door and I come back to a pile of them a month later. She was later kicked out because she was harrassing the other neighbors around her for over a year
This guy is absolutely diabolical for making his upstairs neighbors sick by using chemicals. He should have been charged with three counts of attempted murder along with the charges of possession of a controlled substance and aggravated stalking.
Some of the most awful people really know how to act around the right people to not be suspicious and also to gain favor/network with others to accomplish their goals.
Sound is not magic, and you are responsible for the sound you are making in your unit.
one of my neighbor's friends would visit him specifically at night and have this annoying loud boom when he ride his motorcycle I may sound like an a hole but I wholeheartedly wished the terrible upon him while riding do I reflect on myself wishing that on him?No, at least I Don't go around making some manholes so he fall

@anonyninja7737 i can't say for sure because it also depends on what's in the solution too because the other (non active ) chemicals can be what stabilise it but also they can be dissolved in water so wouldn't be strange that they can disperse with the water molecules in the air

Pure Autism traits and features that wouldn’t lead to a misdiagnosis would be;
-Severe or close to severe repetitive behaviour, habits, activities.
-‘Self-soothing’ via by what I stating above and/or stimming to a degree that is uncontrollable at times even out in public it’s impossible to mask out in a public scenario (typically lvl 2/3 ASD)
-Very noticeable social deficits in social communication and often needs either patience or support helping with it due to miscommunication or misunderstanding on either end of the conversation.
-For ASD levels 1+2, typically will have a NOTICEABLE lack of expression that can correspond to stale, monotone, stoic, or even robotic through common conversation. (I would add lack of eye contact aswell but it kinda links with adhd inattentive type)
-Also irregular speech patterns, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, always seems to have an awkward tone of rhythm.
Adhd typically is more social and outgoing; while ASD is more to themselves, desires social isolation and lacks interest in relationships
I can list a few more, but symptoms that don’t overlap with each other are as different as black and white, that why when Asperger’s was still diagnosable, ADHD, must be out the picture or cannot be diagnosed in the future.

Ya first degree - intention is there
Dude was trying to have them die in a way that would show as an overdose on drugs basically.
How... wut.
If it was combined with something else, like some actual intoxicating inhalant, why bother needlessly including expensive and illegal narcotics in the mix at all...?
