It's never shameful to have not read transformers novels. They occupy the same "technically reading but not really what anyone means when they say 'read a damn book'" space as Star Wars novels.
I’m a Thundertron hardcore fan but I never minded the change in his design because it made him bulkier which makes it more believable that he was able to hold his own against Optimus and Megatron
The fun bit about the shoulder pads is that they still have the claw shapes in the design but they're abstracted a bit and not painted so they're kinda hard to notice
i don’t have a particular fondness for this guy, so it was shocking that him, of all toy-only prime characters was the next one to be honored with a modern update
0:20 I do remember it. In fact I own the blue one. Its head broke off eventually because it was clear plastic, but hey, now it just looks like a Gunmen, so its all good.
I really hope Hasbro gives us an Alpha Trion (or Trizer) from this, especially with regards to Alpha Trion being a lion in TF One. Fingers crossed for Takara going for a Go Prime (see what I did there? ^^)... but I am sure Leo Prime will come first (they do love their LioConvoy over there in Japan).
Funny thing is that apparently, despite the color scheme and name literally screaming it, Alpha Trizer ain't a version of Alpha Trion...it's an old man version of *Cheetor*, of all things.😮😮😮 How or why, I have no idea. (And so what's their excuse for Titans Return Alpha Trion, who's also a lion and a spaceship??)
That robot articulation to alt articulation transition was smooth as hell. I’m holding off on the 3-pack version of this, but I’m glad the mold itself looks real solid.
Yeah, Star Seekers were planned to be featured in TF Prime cartoon but those planned changed what lead to Beast Hunters. But at least folks have option which version of Thundertron they would like to have.
Thundertron is a sleeper figure hit. I always played the "maybe I'll get him" with the Prime iteration, but decided to go all in with his Legacy announced version. He just looks neat, and has a presence on a shelf. He looks almost heroic with the colors, and Zoid DNA in his beast mode.
@@Vangelus Yeah, I had to friction up the tab on my 3-pack copy's sword to get it to stay in there *and* in the set skirt slot, plus even then it's still quite a "steep" almost tangential angle that I find it's easy to knock it out of the skirt slot during posing.
You can mount the sword on his hip using one of the little not-for-mounting waist swivel gap holes. It's not very secure and the sword sticks horizontally back, but it's an option.
Got the 3pack version and was very impressed with the engineering. He's super fun to transform and pose. Like you said, pleasantly surprised at how well engineered he is.
I remember the reviews for the old Prime Thundertron back when it came out. It feels so weird to see a new Thundertron that keeps the pegleg gimmick. And I appreciate that this version doesn't force the sword to be folded up because of a spring-loaded sword gimmick (that gimmick was kinda intrusive even if it was kinda cool). I like at I've been in the fandom for long enough to see Thundertron come back.
This boggles my mind on how much hate this figures gets like yes , I agree with the idea that there are a lot of prime characters that could of gotten a new figure over Thundertron but he is a Transformers , Zoid and A Pirate all in one on top of that His figure is very well made and if anyone actually has read his lore , He has a strong hatred of Cybertron for leaving his colony planet to fend for itself which led his crew to be the last survivors of their planet and now they terrorize any Cybertron vessels whether they be autobot , decepticon or a civilian ship , he is literally the Davy Jones of Transformers minus the curse and fish people .
Pfff I’m having the exact same dilemma. I love the colours of the mainline but the head of the 3pk is so much more imposing. I have the 3pk preordered yet I keep looking at the mainline, may wind up just getting both. What a fun hobby.
Im a bit annoyed how this figure is more accurate to its orignal TFP source material. Than any of the other TFP figures in the Legacy line. Especially Bulkhead and Knockout.
I was interesting in this version until they reveal the special 3 pack! Just at the moment, no UK store has gotten it but I magine it's either GAME or Forbidden Planet cos they got the Star Raiders at the moment.
Timely for World Lion Day. I don't know how many repaints they can make with this mold. Probably an 'Across the Spiderverse' Kraven the Hunter. I'm pulling for a Transformers Go! mini collection. The dragon Predacons are far more interesting than the combiner Preds. The way things shook out I got Lio Prime and Thundertron in the same week. Boy, Hasbro really did Lio Prime dirty. I don't know what happened and I don't want to know. Thundertron looks ready to tussle with Black Lion for control of the Voltron pride. Lio Prime looks like a reject from Babar. Zoids Liger enerrgy? Sure. But given the alternative, I'm not complaining.
*Vangelus:* 2012 was twelve years ago.
*Me:* _[Groans in old]_
I genuinely will always remember prime rumble. Especially the arms micron rumble and frenzy duo
I have to admit I'm really impressed with what they did with the lion legs. Definitely not a simple case of stand up the kitty
He looks good, but there is one thing this figure can't do like the original one could do: fan-mode his foot into a little parrot.

I'm pretty sure the red version of Prime Rumble only came out in Japan. His Arms Micron was an octopus!

The Prime Rumble was blue, you may be thinking of the Alternators one which was red.
he had lots of red highlight bits! except for when he was both red and blue overseas
@@Vangelus I believe you're talking about the Leo Prime repaint that was released in Japan.
The sword pegs in on his hip skirt, but where the ball joint is, that little rectangle peg.
it has no grip there on mine, it just falls out

He can holster the sword on his hip guard. There's a slit behind the hole that you can peg the sword into.
the dimensions don't do that on mine :/
Pussycat as Beast wars Megatron says YESSSSS!!! 🦖

I couldn't get that to work on mine, the friction just gives up when I let go of the sword
The lack of any announcement of an Alpha Trizer repaint this late in the year is making me slightly worried.

Love this toy, and as maybe one of the bigger Star Raiders (seekers) fans, glad I can have a small crew
Thundertron looks interesting
Very very nice piece. My only dread is they make a Star Raider/Seeker version of Tidal Wave.
No joke, I actually want them to do it. 😅
I remember and love Prime rumble, got both takara versions 😊
Those books have lots of pretty pictures tho.
This is a blast from the past. Speaking about, would you do an exkaiser/brave series review of one of the figures they've been releasing?
8:17 Smooth
This looks great! I'm keen for the upcoming 3-pack.
This is a must have figure, not only for Prime fans, but for Transformers fans everywhere!!

A Zoids reference? In this economy?
Without a single War Dick? No godjuluses??!
Guess if you use the parrot of Beachcomber in the other shoulder XD
how did a toy only guy not only get a new toy, but also a leader class multi pack upgrade?!
@@Majinhero swagger
A solid timely review as lately I've been debating if I should get this guy mainline or preorder the Star Seeker 2 pack on WalmartCA :3

that's the fun bit if you can afford both, like just frankenstein your fav bits together or just enjoy what clicks with you most in either

I remember the rumble toy because TJ made a video, so ha!

great video as always
I am angry that the deisgners didn't give him the head he has on the Star Raider version from the start, but otherwise I like Thundertron a lotm

there's a world lion day??
@@Vangelus International Cat Day was a few days before this video's release. Why not a World Lion Day?
Man, he could've been cool in the show.

Imma stick with my old one. This does nothing for me and is too hollow. Also, what is with american transformers designers and bad lion faces.
