Thanks for putting up this video. I had a VX previously for which it was really easy to change the oil and filter. I just bought a VF and really had no idea where the filter nor sump plug were..... your video helps a lot. Thanks again.
Good Shit. This is the type of content we all need
Legend thanks mate, came from a vt to ve and was excited that they moved where the oil filter was no more pain
Very good like it cheers
This video saved me a lot of hassle. Thank you so much!
Just did my oil change on my VE SV6 Great guide, thanks for your help.
I literally just payed $280 to get my vf serviced.... might just do it myself from now on
Thank you so much for putting this on UA-cam.
Very informative. Keeping it simple and easy to follow. Cheers mate!
Thank you, a very different filter and location compared to my vk commodore
got my 13mm 15mm 24mm thank you took me no time thanks to this video
very good! thx mate!! I have a SV6 ..
Thanks for uploading your video. It was clear and relaxed so easy to understand.
Thanks for you video, very helpful 👍
Great video. I needed to know what size sockets too use and you sorted me out. Thanks.
yes 13, 15 and 24mm
Very helpful video, thank you, keep up the good work
You should always remove oil cartridge first allowing the vacuum to drain oil from filter housing...
Tip... turn the oil container 90 degrees and pour. No glugs easy pour. Lot less mess
Very helpful video. Well done 😊
You are so nice I think I'd even let you do my truck's oil.
Good video mate, but? Before you or anyone starts an oil change, they first need add some engine flush, then run the car for 30-60 minutes before you/they drain the engine oil.
You also left out how to reset the "Service" due warning indication on the dash. After you finish the service you should Reset the Service Warning on the dash before you take it for a test drive. Hope this helps.
Perfect information bro thanks very much . 👍
Useful video, quick, clear and precise, thank you. Have just changed the oil filter following this vid
😂
😮 wrotey😅e
Thanks Champ!!
💯
Thankyou
I recommend that you buy filter with replacement o ring and replace blue o ring on cap
Replacing that o ring is a must just leaving it is welcoming trouble
Thank you very much for this video. Very helpful!
Great video mate! 10/10.
Turn your oil container 180degs and it will pour much better, no glug.
Hot Oil drains better and removes all containments. Yes it can burn. Never needed a breaker bar, doing so just overtightens on its that only need a 'nip' to tighten. Also suggest a MAGNET stuck on the pan near the sump plug to hold fine particles.
Turn the conyainer SIDEWAYS when full to stop oil glugging out...
I have a question: My Commodore SV6 VF, I replaced the oil using Nulon Dexos and Ryco oil filter twelve months ago.
In that time I have done less than 5000Km. When should I replace the oil?
Should I do it because twelve months have passed in spite of low year kilometers? Or should I wait until the car has done more kilometers, and if so, how many?
Very interested in comments.
Change it.
Thank you mate
You seem to do a better job than Holden dose got my Ve thunder back from my capped servicing and a week later no oil in it Holden says it must be my car leaking. As I am a mechanic and know it's not leaking but what hp or kw u get with ur intake and exhaust? Getting mine dynoed next week
Josh D they probably didn't fill it properly! We never had our car dyno'd so not sure. I've seen 140-150rwkw from other people.
Nice video thanks
Thankyou 👍
Thanks for very good
Thanks bro Do you find the Grella the works extra power!!?? of been looking at buying one not sure due to y
Wait for the car to COOL DOWN. What are you serious? Everyone does it hot to help it flow out better. And usually not jacked up. I use a pothole to get under vehicles 9 months of the year and suck it up and do it on concrete during winter. Btw haven't you heard of holding the oil side on to stop glugging??
Turn the oil jug sideways to avoid the glug.
This comment is underrated thank you
ok I think you forgot to mention that you should have the car on stands not supported by a jack only you should have on gloves on and the oil filter comes with a new o ring that should always be used
What length breaker bar are you using?
Replace o rings both
What trolley jack you using mate
Thank you
Bloody beautiful Aussie cheers for that
Fuckn looks clean as man👌 wouldn't look like that now but cob haha
So once you have done the oil and filter change, how do you delete the flashing service from the dashboard?
Switch the ignition to on press the accelerator 3 times then switch the ignition off.
What about priming the filter?
Do you really need to put the cover with the 6 bolts? It would make it quicker next time to leave it off. Any thoughts?
No it’s a good thing to have in place. Multiple reasons. You could I suppose get a holesaw and make an aperture for next time. The cutout would even have a hole in the middle, with a little thought you could make it so it clips back in. Voila !
I’m now a certified UA-cam mechanic
can you do transmission fluid change plz~~
Unfortunately we can't as we no longer own our VE Commodore. Generally speaking all you need to do is locate the fill and drain plugs on the transmission. Drain all the oil, then fill it up as high as it will go!
oh..thx mate~ waiting 4 another episode..cheers
nice very gud
Hi mate, just wondering do you know what the oil filter is made? By holden? Made in USA? Cheers
Not sure sorry!
DRAINING OIL WHILE ON THE JACK....MMMM MIGHT STILL HAVE A LITRE OF NASTY OIL STILL IN THE SUMP.... DROP IT OFF THE JACK & STANDS TILL IT STOPS DRAINING...IT TAKES A FEW MINUTES MORE... BUT IF YOU DO A JOB... DO IT RIGHT.... HOPE IT HAS BEEN HELPFUL...
Didn't you hear him say he was going to drop it off the jack when he replaced the filter.
He did. And why are you yelling?
5w30 dex2 ok for vf 2013?
are these VE model specific? would the same process occur for the 8 cylinder VE's or different?
Jaysen Raveora Hey, the V8s are quite different in terms of layout and filter type, but the process for oil changes is the same
with the oil filter you used it does come with a o-ring
No it did not
ac Delco oil filters do come with o-rings i fit them every day to cars sry u got one with out
Ryco filters do
Can u use 15w 40? For v6 vf commodore
Nah that’s too much bro
Can I ask why you only put 6.5 litres in when my book states 7 litres (VF SV6 LFX)
impossible to get every drop of oil out
@AutoInstruct does it help to drain the oil by facing the front end toward a downward incline?
Yes otherwise you can leave dirty oil in the back of the sump that would otherwise come out on a better angle
@@Raven-cf5qd might try it next service. I did notice when you raise, lower, and remove filter, more oil comes out during these three stages.
@@yingyangorca4124 pretty sure oil filters hold some oil in them thats probably why more comes out when removing it
Any one have vf evoke transmission sarvice video???
Castrol edge 5w30 be fine?
BURNSY INK i use myself full synthetic oils like 5W 30 in all cars i work on im a mobile mechanic , the full synthetics exceeed )OEM original equipment manufaturer) specifications
U really trust that jack
There are jackstands under the car as well. The jack is an additional backup.
How can i tell if my car is synth or mineral
Taste it
So much for instruction. No new O ring on filter cap. The filter doesn't fill up like a spin on does. No mention of frequency, which should be every 5,000 klm. As good as Nulon is, Penrite is best. Retired mechanic.
Retired mechanic, but still full time dickhead. Even if you are right, you come across like a wanker.
Umm
Use Penrite, not Nulon 👍
Nulon is a long Life dexos 5/30 no different to penrite ?
Don't you use the New seal that comes with the new filter
Crap kept buffering
Get off the dial up
How embarrasing its a 6 !!
What the fuck you Turkey! Nothing wrong with a six, what a fuck head!!
