What an awesome video! I have a 2007 statesman wm and have a few questions though... 1. How did you know to put in 6.7L in your car and 2. How do you put the car in engineering mode? Thanks for the very imformative video ! :)
I recently changed mine 2 days ago and didn’t put any oil in the oil filter compartment and now car is conking out and stuttering and low rpm drive and reverse, feels like it’s chocking is that because I didn’t put any oil in there, I put 6.7l in the engine oil refill port
@@tristanalderton5838 The VE takes 6.7L capacity incl. oil filter so that won't be the issue. I have been changing my oil for over 30 years and never put oil into the filter compartment, it's not a thing.
To reset the Engine Oil Life %, turn your ignition off. Turn your ignition on (don't start the engine), press the accelerator 3 times in quick succession. Turn the ignition off and then enter Engineering Mode, it should be reset now and show 99%.
Does the oil need to be empty before removing the oil filter? Having trouble trying to get my oil filter cap off and wondering if it's a pressure issue or the caps just done up too tight.
I should answer this for you , probably happened to you as it happened to me .. the oil cap I came across I ended up breaking the nut on top clean off I put loads and loads of force … until it just broke … I went to a pick your own part place got another part .. came back to car … got a grinder to cut into the oil filter cap … got a chisel on it first to see if I could get it started it was not coming off at all … In the end I cut through side of the old filter cap then I got a ball pein hammer I started smashing the cap off .. ( at this point you want rags stuffed inside filter to stop bits of metal getting deeper … however little bits of metal don’t affect its running as we got a few bits of metal we left in there … anyway eventually after smashing it to bits the oil filter started turning in its thread … some people over tighten these oil filters when putting them on .. a real headache .. you most likely had to do similar

Hell freaking no! If your question was genuine, the water may get more of the nasty old oil out but then you'd have water in there. And that's way way nastier. You're asking for serious engine damage. Water is critical but only in the cooling system.
Hey man i know that this vidoe is about oil change but i have temhe same car as you and everybody knows how bad the timing chains get. Was the time chain replaced in your car at all ? If not thats a good run with the original chain for a 300000km car

Mine takes 6.4 litres of factory recommend 5W-30, I use Castrol Edge fully synthetic every 7,500 km, important to change the oil on time as these engines have a tendency to stretch timing chains, I also use latex gloves

Engine mode hold the left scroll bottom on. On the steering wheel then turn on the motor
shouldnt he be using fully synthetic oil ,not semi synthetic ,i use fully synthetic .and change mine every 8000 klms

Make sure you fill oil filter up with oil when replacing or your engine will start dry! It takes 1/2 a litre.

Ideally, the Oil should be drained prior to removing the Oil Filter. It could be your cap is done up too tight...

Hey Nick, I believe the engine was built with the revised timing chain. So, didn't have any problems at all.
Timing chain is that shot on the ve mine is about to go and already had one replaced when I got it at 100k
