Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Tony winner and Oscar® nominee Leslie Odom, Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls) on his own. But when Angela and her friend Katherine (newcomer Olivia Marcum), disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.

Theaters will be plagued by people who want this to fail so that they can jump online and say how bad it is for instant gratification. These same folks can't admit when movies are scary. They'll travel to horror movies in groups so they deliberately make stupid sounds during quiet scary parts. It's a coping mechanism. Friends of these kinds of people secretly hate going to the movies with them and wish they stayed home.

I’m still going to watch it even though critics are ripping it to shreds. You can’t always believe what critics say, there are movies that have received pretty harsh reviews that in my opinion turned out to be pretty damn good movies. I wish so bad that James Wan would have wrote and directed this movie. He’s a true master of horror, so just imagine what he would have done.

That is what the demon said but it really may not have been the entire truth! To me Katherine's father should have never answered the demon he should have just fought w/ the others and just see by fighting back what the outcome would be, just fight to the end of the exorcisim and at least you would feel you fought to the end of it and however it ended at least you were not fooled into making the wrong choice & sending your kid to hell. Now that would be hell to live with!

I HATE jump scares. They’re so cheap and predictable. That’s why people loved the first Exorcist. It didn’t rely on gimmicks. It thrived on the unknown, the possibility, the evil.

I'm not understanding why they write that one of the girls loses and apparently ends up in hell. I think they could have continued the trilogy with out this. Just my thoughts.
That was a bummer that Katherine had to go to hell but it was her father that made the wrong call on that one, he should have never had answered the demon we all know they mix lies w/ the truth to confuse us!

why is everyone judging this just because the first exorcist was focused more on just suspence and not more on jumpsacares and horror details, ofc this is a NEW movie and even if you say that the first exorcist is better, i still think that this is a masterpiece that will be loved by many horror fans.

It's a real shame that they added jump scares to "The Exorcist." Hollywood seems to have lost its touch when it comes to crafting genuine horror films, resorting to the cheapest and most overused tactic of them all: jump scares.
the original made me fall asleep honestly! and this.. I am so terrified by just watching this little clips!

There is nothing worse than stinger/jumpscare sound effects in horror movies. The movie would be instantly 100% scarier without "prompts" designed to tell you WHEN you're supposed to be scared. Stinger sounds are the "laugh track" of horror. A damn shame.

Dunno, just doesn't hit the spot but then again it's a trailer and I don't trust trailers, plenty of films were better than the trailer. I'll watch it in IMAX before I decide.

Rated as 15 in the UK, not an 18. Hmm that tells me alot of things about this movie eg cuts (possible director cut followed with an 18 certificate) , targeting younger audience coz of box office money intake. And also putting to much on a trailer like this, for me ruins it. Am not finding it slightly scary, but I hope am wrong and it is scary (holding my breath here lol)
They are promoting it wayyyy too much like they did the IT movie. It will be successful but not sure if it’s just good advertising or if it will actually be scary

I think you should watch Mark Kermodes review on this film. He like all the haters do not want this film to fail, but fail it has. You've only got to watch the trailers to see that this film is awful.

The original plot of the exorcist of 1973 was about the crisis and lost of faith in god and they turning this movie in a circus of other religions without any essence of the original 😑

Bobby I'm sorry to burst your bubble but this movie was definitely not at all good.not like the first exorsist, even if they act as more scary it is not.part 1 with Ragan,was,is and definitely be #1 nothing will compare to it I've seen part #1 a lots of times and it still gives me the butterfly scare on my stomach of scare...so nope I did not liked it dont spend your money on it.....
