- Mortal Kombat Trilogy is a fighting game released by Midway in 1996 as an update to Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Unlike the previous title, it was not released in arcades (except for a cameo in a movie), but was instead released for the PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn and PCs. Further versions were also released for the Game.com and R-Zone.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy features the same gameplay and story as Mortal Kombat 3, but adds characters and stages from the other three arcade games, including Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Some completely new characters were also introduced. New additions to the game included the "Aggressor" bar, a meter that fills during the course of the match and temporarily makes a player character faster and stronger. It also features a new finishing move called Brutality, a long combination of attacks that ends with the opponent exploding.
The game was met with mixed reviews. The harshest criticism directed at the Nintendo 64 version, which did not have all the content of the other versions due to limited storage space on the cartridge.

I think it could have been waaaay better than this if they put more attention to detail(body destruction during fatalities like mk2 and we all know the rest like missing characters adding the greatest finishing like kung lao hat execution and removing stupid moves and adding backgrounds and more)

Im 38 and when i was younger this game was my absolute favorite! Just waking up on Saturday and playing this for hours. One of my best childhood memories!
Which fatality or animality is your favorite. My favorite animality is when Johnny Cage turns into a kangaroo and Cyborg Smoke turns into a bull. (Same thing as my zodiac sign, Taurus)

comparing how creative they were with fatalities to today's crappy ones in mortal kombat 9 and X etc (despite the better graphics and all the cutting edge technology put into it) but the fatality thems SUCKKKKK..these fatalities were the best they came up with so far..looks like they gave it their best in the beggining and then ran out of ideas..except kabal, he always had crappy fatalities.

It wasn't that, The animations for Mortal Kombat 2 looked great. They just seemed to lack a bit in the third one.
This is Trilogy though, and they kind of threw in some animations at the last moment with a lot of characters for Trilogy. It's funny seeing some of the older MK1/MK2 skins in this game trying to combo because of the lack of animations/frames they had to work with.
But it's still better than new ones

Pressing (Hold Run) Down, Down, Down, (Release Run) in the third round, to grant the opponent a little bit of health to continue the fight.
Friendship: To perform a Friendship, you must not Block in the winning round.
Babality: Same as above.
Animality: (Do all this in the third round) When the "Finish Him/Her!" message appears, perform a Mercy, defeat your opponent again and when a second "Finish Him/Her!" message appears, perform the button combination to perform your kombatant's Animality.
