I'm so happy you guys wear gloves stacking the firewood, because anybody in the south that's ever had a pile of firewood knows its where black widows overwinter.

    Dear Jonah and Josiah,
I know your parents are so completely proud of you and your new venture together! You are both doing a fantastic job. I am 73 years old, and I"M following you too! Amazing! I taught for 40 years, and I have a very long list of children who could have benefitted from wonderful parents like you have. I'm so glad you treat them so well. Can't wait to hear about your next adventures! Just a thought....I bet you would enjoy the "Soup" books like Soup and Me, Soup, etc. Interestingly enough, both boys that are the main characters in these books grew up to become ministers--after all of their antics! The author is Robert Newton Peck. Enjoy!!!!

You don't need firewood racks. I stack mine by crosshatching the ends. That means you stack every other layer at right angles to the one below it. I have stacked firewood up to six feet between the two crosshatched ends and haven't had any problems. Been doing it that way for fifty years.

👍👍👍. A lot of successes in one day preparing for vacation. Always had hopes up that I’d get it all done so could rest up before leaving. It’s a dream still today even though there’s only two of us. Things keep popping up making it still a hopeful dream one day. Coming home from all that fun and rest seeing all that wood waiting to warm the home will be the best thing to see. Of course still need to keep the pile going just don’t have to break your back doing it now. Still need to find another place for kids to play in some sand and not the kitty’s. My kids found out really fast to cover it as final chore or they’d find gifts that was yucky next day. Aunt Flossie is really loving on her calf making the little one go wild while running. Hope she careful and not bumped into that bull or a tree. Ours had knocked itself out and was laying with legs in odd position. Thought she was dead but momma ran to lick it awake and then she was mooing like scolding it. Funniest thing to see. Got to give your little one a name. “Braveheart” fits cuz she never stopped loving on her new momma. Just kept trying even though she may have got a few bruises. Finally Flossie’s heavy heart felt the love this brave calf kept trying to give. One very loving and BRAVE calf for sure. All you needed was to have some patience cuz the heart will always win even if it took longer than so many said. Ya just have to let the sadness of loss take its time. This calf is doing a “happy” dance cuz she knows she’s filled Flossie’s heart with joy. Soon she’ll learn to take the stand to be milked just so long she can see the little one. Patience it will take once again and a lot of praise. Yep count the numbers of your beautiful herd and be proud for the valuable lessons you’ve learned too. Happy cows.....Happy Farmer. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

We use these for some of our cords. The older versions were fantastic, and while we're still content with the newer ones, I wish I'd got a few more of the originals. We have wood piles in different areas and different states of curing as well.

You don't need the brackets. Just use stainless steel wood screws and pressure treated 2x4's to build the frames. Will last 3 times longer.

Dunnage is the term for the wood scraps keeping your rack off the ground.

Just wondering if you have seen Richard Perkins who is a permaculture farmer who just butchered a cow and showed the process in bagging it and making ground beef. I believe they are European.
I’m so happy Flossie is doing so good. Stay safe.

    Each stack supports the other.

I never understood the buying of a firewood rack. All those trees and saplings on your property. The logs leftover from cutting wood itself.

You may need to just let Flossie and Calf bond longer before you start taking Calf off at night. She just bonded with her so may be worth the wait. Just a thought. Yes you do have to train her to milk in field but Flossie needs time to adjust. God Bless and Peace Be With You All
