I would recommend large cinder blocks to get it off the ground. The 2x4 will eventually rot like that, not to mention that your wood needs to breathe underneath. Excellent video
This video was a huge help!! I've been researching these things for over a week now. In reviews, all the cons you had mentioned were pretty consistent with the round frames. The best prefabricated builds I could find were woodhavens, but they were very expensive. The simplicity and custom ability to the stands just makes the most sense. Thanks again.
Nice video. Only thing I would’ve changed is I would have placed the whole thing on top of blocks or something else to get it up off the ground to help air circulate, to slow up bug infestation and wood rot. Would probably put a tarp over the whole thing just to help try and keep the rain and snow out of it. Again, good video!
Thanks John. Tarps are actually sitting in my amazon cart this morning. In truth, I was so scarred by the instability of the original racks I was determined to give maximum stability this time around. But for sure I need to get some cinder blocks and raise it.... it's going to be a pain when the snow comes if I don't.
I made mine Cheap. 7' T post for the rail and 8x4x16" concert blocks with a t post on the ends down into the ground to hold it in. I can go a longs as i want and 6' high > Starts out with 3 concert blocks, one on each end, and 1 in the middle to set 2 T post on, for a rail. Then it takes 2 concert block with another 2 t post to extend it. Then a t post on the ends down into the ground. I'am very happy with it and its strong and the cheapest way to have a firewood stand. No Termites nor Carpenter Ants can Destroy it! and it don't rot. Its a great way to store concert blocks and T post. Afterwards you can still use them! I'am forever using T post and concert blocks> So many things to make from them! I can't ever get enough of them! That how i store them> by using them on things like FIREWOOD STAND ECT. Raise bed ect ect > If i want to build some thing. I have them > PLUS they last forever
Just put up 3 - 10ft ones up, took maybe 45 minutes by myself and glad I saw and went with these. I have a 4ft metal one like you have and it's held up just fine but much less weight on it. I think I went 5ft tall sides so all three combined will hold well over 1 full cord.
I do have some places with concert pads. Like drive ways ect. That where i put them as well as on clay soil out by the timber. plus i made a rack next to the house to store fire wood as well, it soft ground. Its not loaded down heavy like the rest of the rack
You might want to put some patio blocks under the legs of those metal racks, with that much weight the legs will sink and tip over. Another easy to build and great rack is 3 cinder blocks 1 on each end and 1 in the middle for support, cut two 2x4 in half stick them in the holes of the blocks on the ends then lay the 2 8’ on the blocks and a couple of screws and you’re done. There’s a bunch of videos on it, there’re nice because it keeps the wood high off the ground for airflow. Good luck and happy burning 🔥
That new track is too narrow. It may be strong but the center of gravity will be too high, so any slight lean from ground changes, example due to moisture, will be very dangerous. Especially with children near by. Just add diagonal bracing to reduce danger.
Three cinder blocks and and four 2x4's is all you need. Nothing fancy, no brackets, no screws, no metal. Two more cinder blocks and three 2x4's will add another 8 ft length to it and keep on going. Overthinking the simplest thing is not needed here folks. It'a just firewood. Stack it and quit being all fancy.

Thanks for the nice feedback Jason. I appreciate it.

I find IBC totes to be the best for storing firewood. Especially with having a tractor with pallet forks to move them as needed.

I just buy a little at a time, to haul them in my pickup truck> Like 30 t post or 30 blocks. Where i run out i go buy another 30
I would leave the side 2x4s and slap a roof on the thing
Great idea!
Thanks for nice video. Good job!
You’re welcome, thank you for the good feedback

And the rain?
I use a tarp.
why not treated wood?

Why wouldn't you American stack the ends and then fill the middle? This doesn't make any sense.
