Omgomg I just realized... Arobynn set Ben up to get killed because Ben was against the slave trading!! In The Assassin and the Pirate Lord, it kept saying, "If Ben were alive, he wouldn't have stood for it. Ben would have been as disgusted as she was."
i am just realizing that Sam was right because in the first Novella he told Celaena that something seems off why would Ben be caught on a job that wasn't his in the first place, but Sam and Celaena never had the time to think about that and if they did they would have realized what a horrible person Arobynn is
Everything with Sam is just painful! I love him so much! I honestly want a Wyrd gate opened at the end of the series where we can have some closure with the dead. That founded creepy but..... 😂 I love Sam though and that scene where he finally tells her that he's in love with her in the sewers and he's all like "you'll always choose Arobynn over me" and she's like "you're an idiot" and then they kiss and it's great. I love them and it just sucks he died the way he did
Personally, I liked having the mystery of Celaena's past and Sam in Throne of Glass prior to going into Assassin's Blade. I also liked that I was already connected to Celaena's character before going into the Assassin's Blade, which made the Assasin's Blade even more meaningful.
I totally see where you're coming from because you kind of inquire about her past before you really know it, so it's more intriguing as you read it after already knowing Celaena for a bit! I guess because of either my reading style or the way I read into this series, I personally would've liked to read the Assassin's Blade first (for some reason I like knowing backstory first because chronology works better for me) but honestly, reading it before the series or during it is completely and totally up to personal preference 😌
+Juliana Williams I haven't made it that far into the series yet (obviously, I'm such a newbie when it comes to TOG hahaha) but from what I've heard I definitely agree 😁
I had so much trouble with Celeana's character at first, I was just not getting her. Until I read the Assasins's Blade. It gave me so much more depth about her. Now I can't believe I never liked her that much before :) The last two stories dit kill me though
Eh... to be honest I think I understood Celeana pretty well when I read Assassin's Blade after Throne of Glass. Nothing she did in her behavior of Assassin's Blade ever really surprised me. She's cocky when it comes to what she's good at, but she's not difficult to make into a friend as long you have pure intentions and she's not difficult to get you to fall in love with her as long as you're a guy that's close to her age, tall, beardless, handsome, and can socialize with her. I dont know if those qualities about her will ever change... btw Im nearly done with Crown of Midnight.
This book had me by my feels!! ❤😊 its always nice when a book can give you the throughly flushed out characters that you can have the love and hate relationship!!
I'm a guy and this book is the first that I ever read in my life that made me cry. I really liked Sam a lot, he was my favourite character 100%! I started the entire books with The Assassin's Blade so I had no idea that Sam was going to die...I thought that the entire books were about Sam & Celaena adventuring together 😮I was so pissed when he died 😥great booktalk by the way! 😃
This was 4years ago but whatever I’ll reply 😂 Same!!! I didn’t know it was a prequel so I read it first and when she got with Sam I was like “oh great we have the power couple who’re gonna through this entire series with and face hardships together” shit I was wrong 😭😭😭
I just finished this book and I can not contain my feelings. I stoped reading queen of shadows to read assassin's blade and it just hurt so much. It also made all the other books make more sense. It just hurt so much. Brilliant review. :)
The end of this one hurt so much😭 but it definitely gave lots of background info! I still haven't ventured into Heir of Fire, but I will soon haha, and thanks!
I am currently reading the fourth novella in the Assassins Blade and like you, I wish I had read The Assassins Blade first. Things make so much more sense now that I am reading it.
It hurts that after sam did all of these things to go away from Arobean then he is dead after all these effort I am soooo sad I cant imagine how to continue with out sam
The most painful part, is that if you start to think about it, Celanea and Sam were technically just kids, kids that were in the wrong place and the wrong time, I couldn’t imagine living even the tiniest part of their lives, and I have the same age as Celanea had at the end of the book
Had I been able to do it, I would've thrown my phone against a wall when I finished reading it (on iBooks). I knew everything that had happened, literally because I read it before Tower of Dawn, but it still made me so so mad!!!!
Well, when you‘ve read tower of dawn, you understand why the second story is this important but I get your points🙃 Its true, when you read the assassins blade first, you can understand Celaena that much better and maybe I would liked her more in the beginning because I didn‘t liked her at all in the first books😅 But I also liked reading it as the last one, beacause now I’m so much more into the characters and know all the hints this storys have in the books, so I loved all of them so so much As for now, I‘m in the first third of the last story and I don‘t wanna ending it, because I now whats comming and I‘m not prepared at all😭😭😭
SPOILER : There's this scene when they were at the party and then a masked stranger came to her and they started flirting with each other. That stranger was DORIAN !!! And Chaol was behind him...OMG Celaena didn't say her name because she was drunk like imagine if she did !! and then Sam talked to Dorian and he seemed jalous and....AHHHH
I have to say your channel name is adorable! I looooved the Assassin's blade when I read this and I think my fave was the last one.. But it was a while ago, so I may be wrong. Sam crushed my heart...I was a wreck over this book xD This review just reopened the wound and made me so emotional xD
I'm actually already buddy reading it with my friend Keeley from mermaidkeeley! We're going to start Crown of Midnight soon, which is the second in the series! You can totally jump in if you want!
it was Arobynn, Celaena thought it was one of the assassins because she didn't want to face the truth that she knew deep down (that Arobynn had betrayed her)
too bad i already started throne of glass because everybody was talking about "throne of glass" series, but why is it called like that if the assassins blade is the first book??? Also in my ACOMAF book there's adds about this series and throne of glass is listed first in the pictures and the assasssins blade is last ???? Of course I started off with throne off glass, well whatever I'll read it afterwards
Stefanie T. The Assassin's Blade is the novella bind-up, so it's technically book 0.1-0.5 if that makes sense. Throne of Glass is the first book, but it's kind of up to you when or if you read The Assassin's Blade 😊
SPOILERS! NO! at the end we do not know who did what! they never specify it! 😂 (we all guess it but we are not sure) Good review, just finished this book and throne of glass :3
I've only read halfway through the Assassin and the Desert and the spoilers were awful. I'm a bad person. I didn't know Sam was dead. What have I DONE????? :((

the assassin and the empire, of gosh. i cried so hard
THAT STORY 😭😭😭

SAAAAMMM😭 that scene was amazingggg omg 😭😍 I wish he hadn't died, that part tore me apart and just thinking about it makes me sad
I sobbed when Sam died even though I knew it would happen 😢
Personally, I liked having the mystery of Celaena's past and Sam in Throne of Glass prior to going into Assassin's Blade. I also liked that I was already connected to Celaena's character before going into the Assassin's Blade, which made the Assasin's Blade even more meaningful.
Yeah your right I think you should read the Assassin's Blade before the Queen of Shadows and the Empire of Storms.
I totally see where you're coming from because you kind of inquire about her past before you really know it, so it's more intriguing as you read it after already knowing Celaena for a bit! I can't wait for you to read the rest of the series. I know you'll love it.
+Juliana Williams I can't wait either! Haha I'll start COM soon!
I had so much trouble with Celeana's character at first, I was just not getting her. Until I read the Assasins's Blade. It gave me so much more depth about her. Now I can't believe I never liked her that much before :) The last two stories dit kill me though
Haha this book DEFINITELY gave an insight into her character! That's what I loooveeeddd😍
Eh... to be honest I think I understood Celeana pretty well when I read Assassin's Blade after Throne of Glass. Nothing she did in her behavior of Assassin's Blade ever really surprised me. I'm still not over Sams death and I never will be.
Emo Susan Nehemiah's death sucked more for me. There was a lot of info she knew that was so valuable.
This book had me by my feels!! ❤😊 its always nice when a book can give you the throughly flushed out characters that you can have the love and hate relationship!!

a dash of ash I loved heir of fire. When you get round to it you are in for a treat :)
I really loved the assassin's blade, and the stories come into play more from Heir of Fire and onward.
I loved it too! And I'm still working my way through the series but I'm excited for Heir of Fire to see how this all plays out!!
I am currently reading the fourth novella in the Assassins Blade and like you, I wish I had read The Assassins Blade first. Things make so much more sense now that I am reading it.
I know! I totally get what you're feeling hahaha 😌
I am so glad I read this first. It was so good and so heartbreaking and I love Celaena so much

i read assassins blade after i finished the entire series, so i liked the story with yrene since i knew who she was
I really need to know if Farran is dead ?
Ik this is late and no where near the part but can you do an empire of storms review??? Please and thanks XD
I just finished that book and I hate what happens to Sam 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔
It's like now I lost some interest in reading the rest of the books too.... :l 💔
I didn’t release it was a prequel so I read it first-I loved this book so much 😭😭

Aww haha thank you! The last one definitely was my fav, and everything involving Sam makes me so sad now whenever I think about it 😭😭
a dash of ash You're so very welcome! Awws :'(
How many chapters are in the book?
It’s split up into I think 5-6 different tales
I've finally picked up the series and I really want to read it! How far into it are you? I'd love to potentially buddy-read the series with you! :D
I'm actually already buddy reading it with my friend Keeley from mermaidkeeley! We're going to start Crown of Midnight soon, which is the second in the series! You can totally jump in if you want!
Wait arobynn didn't set her up it was one of the assassins that wanted to be heir over celaena
it was Arobynn, Celaena thought it was one of the assassins because she didn't want to face the truth that she knew deep down (that Arobynn had betrayed her)
