    Looks great.
    We put a player just in front of the 6 six yard box on the front post. Runs out towards the edge of the box taking the man, creating space for the ball to be played to the runners.

    This is a great setup and I love the options. I'm planning to coach my U10 players on this tomorrow!

    Hi Rory. How long would you tend to work on corner kick drills in a session (ie 10mins/20mins?)

    • @CoachRorySoccer
      @CoachRorySoccer  Місяць тому

      Yeah 10-15 mins. I don’t do them every session or anything. Especially at 7v7 I’m a fan of mostly short corners.

    Coach great video as usual. Can you explain to me how is it that the three and the six are not offside at min 12 of the video? What is the benefit of them going there?

    • @CoachRorySoccer
      @CoachRorySoccer  Рік тому +1

      Well I didn’t really move the defenders who would have likely followed runners. But they’re not offsides. Offsides is their position when the ball is played in.

    Personally I'd have a left footed player taking a right sided goal kick, and visa versa.

      Agreed. I try to keep it as simple as possible given the ages.

    Why do you not have any defenders on the posts? Is relegating a player to a post not an effective defensive technique? What about at 9v9 and up?

    • @CoachRorySoccer
      @CoachRorySoccer  2 роки тому +1

      The two center backs have to be back for counterpress. When they get older it’s less of an issue, very commonly a corner at 7v7 can turn into a attacking opportunity for the defending team very easily.

      I need to do a 9v9 corner video for sure. It’s totally different. We do much more complicated runs etc.

      @@CoachRorySoccer No, I know that. I should have been more clear. I am talking about the defense now. You described your "ideal defense", which apparently does not include players defending on the posts. Can you explain?

      @@raigekage4412 In the works! Going to do a "complete guide" to corner kicks for both 7v7 and 9v9. Day job getting in the way :)

    We are playing 7v7 U9 girls. Whar do recommend if the other team just has players standing in front of the corner taker? That is what I saw a lot this fall. Should we just treat it like a 2v2?

    • @CoachRorySoccer
      @CoachRorySoccer  2 роки тому +1

      If they bring 2, then the progression from this basic short corner is to play a ball into the box. Now if you have one especially talented player who you think could go 2v2, 1v2 then you could still play it short. But usually if they bring 2 players up to the corner I play I don't play it short. At this age however you need to have a player capable to delivering a ball like that which isn't always the case depending on the team and level.

      I've had success against the corner wall by having the "short" option stand higher. level with the top of the box for instance. you end up passing the ball around the wall. so kick it 'short' (high and wide) and instruct that player to immediately kick it as hard as they can toward the goal. it takes the wall completely out of the play and gives your two box players a chance to get on the end of it, or bundle it in.

    Why wouldn't the 6 take the corner kick so that the 2 can cross it into the box just like he does in your other attacking pattern videos; and have the 9 make his normal run to the near post and the 6 to the penalty spot? Seems that it would be simpler for the players to repeat their usual patterns instead of learning to switch places just for corner kicks?

    • @CoachRorySoccer
      @CoachRorySoccer  Рік тому

      Typically the 6 is the most skilled with the ball in my team so I like them to get the ball on short corners.

    • @ai79
      @ai79 Рік тому

      I see, thank you. So your striker just learns to make a different dedicated run depending on whether it's a corner kick or just a wing attack with a cross?
