- Chris Hemsworth returns as Tyler Rake in EXTRACTION 2 - only on Netflix, June 16.
After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held. Hemsworth reunites with director Sam Hargrave, with Joe and Anthony Russo's AGBO producing and Joe Russo writing. Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the first film, with Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili also co-starring.
This is a sequel to the first film that was based on the graphic novel 'Ciudad' by Ande Parks, from a story by Ande Parks, Joe Russo & Anthony Russo, with illustrations by Fernando León González. @@sleepingzoro7530 ye in terms of action of course, sorry I probably should of said that but story telling, characters and world build goes to John wick, the thing I like about extraction 1 and 2 is the simplicity, it knows what you want is action and it gives it to you, the second one does give some great characters depth with Tyler and the family and others characters, and it also had some emotional moments, so I think the second one is better

I loved the cinematography on the first one, and so glad to see this one has similar experimental scenes as well. Look at the transition from a hand held camera to one that is attached to Hemsworth’s body when he gets stunned by a hit at 00:32. After this, the camera is on a harness fixed to Hemsworth until 00:56, where it seamlessly cuts to the hand held camera once again. Brilliant, and so creative.
It reminds me of the church fight scene from The Kingsmen

Love how the camera transitioned from moving with Chris as if attached to him with a rig but then seamlessly detaching to show more in the frame. Love it
it was attached to him then the distraction to remove it when the riot shield guy came then the camera pans out.

Just like the John Wick movies, the director of the two Extraction movies used to be a stuntman and a stunt coordinator, so I guess that's why the action scenes looks cool

I loved the rawness of the shots taken by Sam Hargrave in the first movie and his dedication as a first time director for those shots, beyond commendable.
I have no knowledge about this, but I agree with you, I feel like how it's film is a reason why it's such a hit. The rawness of the sequences is so different than the other action movie.
Hollywood movies tend to have lots of cut shots so it's rare to see a long shot sequence such as the opening sequence. It gives more range and completeness to the story.

You let a legit, experienced stuntman (or former stuntman) direct, he’ll make the action insane. Because they know what looks good on camera. Case in point, Chad Stahelski & Sam Hargrave.

That Molotov explosion on the riot shield was badass. I can’t tell if it’s practical effects, visual, or a combination, but the cinematography, effects, action, and especially sound effects/design are fantastic!
It was definitely a mix there’s no way they’d lob a damn Molotov at Chris irl🤣 but they probably did throw one at a shield separately then cut the scenes together
But the end scene with the minigun doesn't look good. He stops shooting but still does the motion as if he's shooting. Hope it's fixed in the movie cuz that looked very goofy.

Keep in mind this entire first sequence looks to be done all in one take. There are cuts but the beautiful transitions between them make it look seamless. This is going to be a movie of the summer for SURE

@@TheRelentlessKnightThat's what I wanted to point out, probably forgot to add cgi. But they shoulda use blanks or something, I don't think the arm is supposed to shake in that specific manner up and down while firing a minigun.
