One of their under rated tracks but maybe the hidden gem is their song " The 100th Median where the Great Plains begin" listen that song it is a very Canadian song. West from the 100th Median is 2500 miles of prairie to the Rockies.
Highly recommend Courage, Ahead By A Century, 38 Years Old, Wheat Kings, so many…very diverse, think you’ll dig it. Blow At High Dough is more the sound of this song, but great too.
R.I.P. Gord Downey. Canada's favorite son. Pierre Trudeau Canada's Prime Minister went live on the C.B.C. the day Gord passed. This song is not indicative of their overall catalog. Those are pinch harmonics Rob is hitting. Gord was a socially conscious writer, who brought up indigenous rights and court reform in his songs. I highly recommend reading and listening to "The Secret Path". A deep dive would be great, but not all your listeners are into lyrical content. Peace & Love.
Love me some Hip. Canadian music icons. Great hooks and great lyrics/authenticity.👍🎶 A solid song for me would be Bring It All Back To Me for future Hip cuts. Fiddler's Green or Wheat Kings are solid gold and show a different side to the band. Good stuff and nice reaction.
Thanks for doing my suggestion. They have a lot of great songs. Courage Twist my Arm Fiddlers Dream Blow at High Dough are a few more suggestions. Cheers 🇨🇦
If you're going to do more Hip, I recommend "Little Bones" (one of their best songs from early in their career) and "50 Mission Cap", about the death of Toronto Maple Leafs player Bill Barilko
Oh...look at you doing Hip videos. I kind of know this band. My best friends band and The Hip played a big show together a little before this album was released On New year 1988. I also hung out with the drummer in New Orleans when they were there recording their 4th album. We went out that night and watched a special Aerosmith blue only show at The House of Blues Dan Aykroyd owned. They recorded at least their 2nd and 4th albums there. The entire 2nd album...Road Apples, is a masterpiece without a weak track.
« His name is Rob Baker and he was clearly in the kitchen cooking » - man this made me laugh out loud - one of your good ones and you’re a witty dude so cheers.
I love this song. I've tried to get into the rest of their catalog, which I like, but this track seems like lightning in a bottle. Funny, I never equated this band with Live (the 90's band), but there is a similarity in their over-the-topness in a good way.
What a great tune! Glad you reacted to it! Yes, Rob Baker cooks on this track for sure. The Hip have so many great, great tunes to check out. Watching the late Mr.Gord Downie (R.I.P.)front the band is a joy unto itself and worth seeing at least a handful of times if one is into watching and hearing the best frontman ever to grace a stage. If it pleases the host, might I suggest watching ‘Fully Completely’ and ‘Grace, Too’ live (played back to back in this show)? Please? You’ll love it! ua-cam.com/video/S3WfSftHQnI/v-deo.htmlsi=XnWE2an-Pc4W1MXo
The live version of this song hits hard. New Orleans is Sinking (Westwind)

Legends. Wheat Kings is my favourite Hip song followed by this song. Amazing!
❤ agree
Thanks for getting this favorite of mine by The Hip. So many great songs by this group. Try "Its a good life if you don't weaken" by them.
You have to see the Live version of this, Live at the PinkPop festival.
Another band was well-known for woking things out in concert before recording them. That band was Pink Floyd.

Pretty sure you meant to say Pierre Trudeau's son, prime minister Justin Trudeau.... Pierre died 17 yrs before Gord.
@@robertcartier5088 Yes, thank you.
Justin Trudeau is a polished Turd. No shit
@@jamespaivapaiva4460 ☺️👍
And then Treudeu broke his promise he made to Gord.

Ty Deb!
So much fun ❤❤❤

Fun fact this song was banned nation wide for about a year and a half after hurricane Katrina
King Gord❤ king of the Canadian misfits, music of our lives. Ty for checking out the best band ever 🇨🇦

Ya this one got Canadian fists pumping.....Nautical Disaster another great one..or my fave...." Its a Good Life If You Dont Weaken...
It's about a steamboat called new Orleans that sank by Baton Rouge in 1800s
Mmmyeah, that was was a good listen. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Was new to me. Solid beat. I kind of liked it.
go for the deep dive. You’ll never regret it
My recommendation - start with Fully Completely (1992) and then go backwards and forwards from there
❤🇨🇦love The Hip❤🇨🇦
Fiddlers Green, another excellent Hip song. You should check out another Canadian band, Big Sugar.
They had and EP with four or five songs prior to this album.
kudos from Canada and thank U for NOT stop start stop start. NOW give Killer Whale Tank version a listen . . . Thank You Kindly for the respect

This song was banned from New Orleans radio stations for quite some time, after Hurricane Katrina... 😢
I am surprised it took this long to check out the Hip. They have so many great songs. Treat yourself.
Bobby Baker is so hot on this, but don't overlook Gord Downie's vocals. The vocals are a staple of The Hip music, as much as Bobby's guitar.
Lionized

Second album but first breakout album.
I am surprised it isn't blocked.
Hopefully that means it doesn't get blocked later :o
Next up: do "Healing" by Gary Numan and Ade Fenton :)
Meh, heard its like a million times...
Yet here you are
@@kellyzak2375 Well, I had to listen again to remind mysef just how generic a piece this is.
Not a fan 🇨🇦👎🏻🇨🇦
Everyone says how great they were as a band if that’s the case they would have made it big elsewhere instead of mainly Canada.
