I still absolutely love this movie, great camera angles, amazing mood, setting, pace, and music.
Mr. Halloran is a very nice person and I love his smile when he mimics Bugs Bunny to Danny and until the end, I always trust him about staying away from Room 237
I couldn't agree more. To me he exemplifies his personality best in the scene where it's only him and Danny and very kind and pleasantly explains, "the shine."
Remaining even tempered throughout, then when "room 237" is brought up everything changes. Extremely creepy!!!

Amazing that all of this was shot on a massive sound stage. For years I had thought that it was a real building being used for a location shoot.

the exteriors were a real place, it's a ski resort located in Oregon, it was just the interiors that were a set

I heard that Shelley Duvall passed away. She was a really good actress, played the part well. My understanding is that they broke a world record according to Guinness. The stairwell scene with her walking backward with the bat swinging at Nicholson took 127 takes to get it right. Yep, look it up...
I guess I'll watch it again. The hotel is actually quite cozy
5:35. The background entering the freezer is completely different from the one after they leave. That was pointed out in the movie Room 237.

10 minutes in and already the movie is entirely set to go. Nowadays movies just have 45 minutes of extra stuff and Kubrick wasn't even a guy to cut movies short!
