Just beautiful. I knew Rhett was a great songwriter, but it's glorious to see the depth and breadth of his talent on display. Can't wait for the album! -John

damn. this is even better than i expected. this isn't just "i love gmm, so i'll support this because it's decent" it's genuinely great
I 100% agree with you. Absolutely amazing!
This! Believe Me was very good but I think I felt that way because I knew the backstory from following Rhett & Link's deconstruction etc. This song is truly beautiful and something I'd have liked with or without the GMM fandom.
I don't think you could have worded that any better
I’ve always said it. If they wanted to Rhett and Link could have made it in the music industry. Rhett’s new tunes are proof that their talents go beyond comedy.
I have to Agree with this .. I love GMM but thats not why ill listen to this.. this song is awesome..
I've always loved how much Rhett (and Link) adore their wives, and how they support each other in every way and take joy in each other. I feel like this video and this song really highlight that.
Hello there Rachel nice meeting you here

I mean.. anyone who doesn't love their significant others like these guys do aren't doing it right.
My wife is the most wonderful, beautiful important thing in the entire world to me.💜
Unlike Ned from the try guys
Seriously so beautiful ❤
absolutely stunning 🥺🥺🥺 Rhett! What the hell! Voice! Harms!
So we’re just gonna ignore Dodie appreciating Rhett’s songs !!! Queen supporting a King. 💯
Happy to see you here dodie🖤
good ole' audio editing
This is so personal and real. It's what every artist strives for and executed beautifully.
Incredible harmonies, deep emotive lyrics and incredible images. It’s beautiful Rhett & Jessie. Just beautiful.
Might have to be my wedding song 🥲
Started my relationship 9 years ago as teens watching GMM. Now engaged (still watching GMM) and then you hit us with this beautiful song. Thankyou Rhett
Congratultions! Best wishes for a happy future!
Congratulations.
How sweet! Cherish each other and remember how lucky you are.
Aw Thankyou so much everyone 💕💕
Oh wow, yes this would make a FANTASTIC wedding song!
Knowing yours and Jessie’s story, “a few hours on a wooden bench, that’s all it took to do me in.” Thirty seconds in and you already got me shedding a tear. This is fantastic.
I thought the same thing about the bench because we know the story!! So cute.
Me too! 😭
I must have missed the story of the bench. Was it on ear biscuits or a past gmm or more?
@@EnigmaVA they talked about it on a recent episode of ear biscuits. “Rhett’s proposal story”
Saaammmeee! Loving the direction he's going.
I think Rhett and Jessie just made me love country music!
Hello there Joni nice meeting you here
Check out the work of Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson, I believe Rhett has said they’re inspirations, at least according to the Spotify artist bio
ME TOO!🥰 Well I just fell back in love 💕

Damn. This whole album came out of nowhere and hit me hard. It’s so personal and raw. Just absolutely stunning work. Bravo Rhett!
I love this album too. I’m a pastors son and walked away. This album is so relatable
This video was adorable, seeing Jessie & Rhett’s chemistry fills me full of so much joy.
Wonderful job the both of you 💜
I’m so ready for this to be on spotify so I can add it to our Wedding Playlist.
Rhett, Jessie… thanks for sharing this with us!
If my parents released this I wouldn't be able to explain how proud of them I was. You're an amazing pair of parents.
"More than a savior, we needed help." Damn, this line hits me right in the evangelical upbringing. It hurts, but it's so good to be reminded that I'm not alone.
I’m literally in tears seeing you two and your children while listening to this beautiful song. My wife and I are due with our first child in less than a week and we love watching GMM together. Your views on the things and the way you talk about and describe your family is a huge motivator for my wife and I to attempt to build a family different than the ones we were born into. I can’t wait to make sure she hears this when she gets home from work.
Had no idea Jessie had such a beautiful voice 💗 this was so precious, you can see how much love was put into it. And the fact that Lily helped produce! So special, congrats to everyone involved
Oh that’s his wife?!? I was like who is she lol
As someone who went through a faith transition, I’m so stoked to hear the whole album. Soooo good so far and can’t wait for the rest!!
I really hope it resonates with you. the main reason I decided to go through with this and turn these songs into an album is people like you. Thanks for listening.
I have also gone through a faith transition, the two songs so far have really hit close to home. Can’t wait for the whole album
Same and these songs are amazing! Rhett is a genius.

@@jamesandtheshame thank you for sharing. i may be a person of faith but, as far as i can tell anyhow, life is about empathizing with other people and projects like this open me and other folks up to other perspectives we’d never be able to explore otherwise. it takes courage to create art, especially something this personal but it’s making a positive impact.
Love the whole lyrics. This one stands out: "Moved west to the devil's town/losing old and makin' new friends/finally put our crosses down/watch those two boys start to turn to men."
Great music video. Nice to see Barbara in it too.
Yeah, that was big.
When music can give you goosebumps all over your body, you know it’s hitting your soul. We’re all proud of you.
Crying so much right now!! My hubs & I were raised evangelical but have since deconstructed for a much better marriage, a life full of love, and two people just figuring it out as we go. Thank you thank you thank you for putting these complexities into a song. This is going on my love songs playlist :)

As a mother of two married to her high school sweetheart I related so much to this song my god, I can’t say this enough. Rhett and Jessie did an amazing job, I’m so excited for the album!!

Hello there Fiona nice meeting you here
I picked up on it first thing
You weren't like the ones I'd known
Mighta been from the same place
But coming from somewhere all your own
A few hours on a wooden bench
That's all it took to do me in
Knew then had to make it quick
Before I made us fall into sin
Said I don't know where we're going
But I know I want you to go with me
Don't care much about the destination
As long as you're there that's where I wanna be
The talking took a different tone
And started to make you cry
What if there's no way for us to know
What happens when we die
The blur from those tears faded
And you saw it for yourself
Hard truths all turned to maybes
And more than a savior we needed help
Said I don't know where we're going
But I know I want you to go with me
Don't care much about the destination
As long as you're there that's where I wanna be
A move west to the Devil's town
Losing old and making new friends
Finally put our crosses down
And watched those two boys start to turn to men
So much we'd been warned about
Ended up being pretty good
I keep waiting for the bottom to drop out
Like we said it would
Still don't know where we're going
But I know I want you to go with me
Caring less and less about the destination
As long as you're there that's where I wanna be
I'd like to go back to the old us
Take your hand and say it's all gonna be okay
We could only do what they told us
Without that who knows who we'd be with today
I don't know where we're going
But I know I want you to go with me
Don't care much about the destination
As long as you're there that's where I wanna be
As long as you're there that's where I'm gonna be 🤟
this had me tearing up. i seriously LOVED "believe me" and this song is just as good. incredibly proud of you rhett and so very excited to hear the rest of the album
Almost immediately started crying watching this and had to send it to my partner....
We're both from Fayetteville NC and both understand exactly what it's like to grow up together in the south. We've been on our journey for 11 years and while we've ended up in many crazy places, as long as we're in it together I know everything will work out.
thanks for sharing!
What a beautiful song. You’re really killing it Rhett. you have a beautiful life. I hope to have the same level of happiness with my soon to be wife, whom I am marrying in october!
Dont hope, just do! I got married this year. Enjoy the ride

Beautiful song. Its different from a generic love song, there is heart and meaning behind it. It's for the love of your life and its so beautiful to hear.
I can genuinely see this being a lot of people's first dance song for weddings. Lovely song.
My wedding is coming up in October and I would love for this to be ours. The only issue is the bit about moving to the devil’s town and the part about laying down the crosses. I’m cool with it, but I know my partner wouldn’t be unfortunately.
first thing I thought also
I literally just got married in may and really wish I knew about this song before then
It’s going to be ours
Crazy i was thinking the same!
Wow Rhett, I can’t believe this is just a hobby... Can’t wait for the album! And way to go Jessie!!!
I used to seriously dislike country music but you’re changing my mind! Wonderful!!!!
I thought you could sing just from your speaking voice. You both blew me away. I wish my husband could have listen to this. He enjoyed your shows online so much. At 60 years old he developed aggressive cancer and after 3.5 weeks after finding out he passed away. I watch Rhett and Link not cause of my husband but because I get a kick out of you both and the crew. Well, to be honest I feel connected to my husband through you both. Brings good memories and smiles. I just miss him.
Just a stranger passing through the comments.
So sorry for your loss. May you find many more memories of your husband and wells of joy as the future unfolds. Much love ❤️

“So much we were warned about, ended up being pretty good” if this line doesn’t get put up on every billboard in the southeast Bible Belt. Rhett I love this song, I’m glad ur wife joined you, this is absolutely beautiful and made me cry. Also question, was some of the footage of you holding one of ur boys part of the baby dedication they do in churches, that’s really like important and bold to put in, and glad u did it. SO PROUD, AND it’s so AMAZING!
You realize he's Atheist, right?
I also recognized the baby dedication! Very impactful
@RonRoss yeah I think they know that especially if they’re hardcore fans but I have no way knowing that for sure lol. But I still feel it’s still impactful even though they’re not religious anymore because it’s showing where they’ve been and how much their lives have changed and that even though they still can’t predict the future they want to do it together.
💜❤️AMAZING song Rhett!! You and Jessie are freaking adorable 🥰
Isn’t that the same as saying, we’re still good!
This song gets even better when you think of how cute it must have been for them to sit together to practice all those times before they recorded this. Their love for each other shows!
Jessie sounds like Carrie Underwood and I am so hoping we hear more from her in the future if this musical persona takes off for Rhett (which, honestly, I hope we see you at the CMA's next year bud!!!) This is so candid and beautifully done 💕
Rhett, I cannot thank you enough for bringing this song to life. It speaks to me and my husbands relationship. Both grew up in the church with only one view of the world. Slowly and individually we both started questioning. Don’t know where we’re going when we die, but if I have him that’s enough for me.
This makes me so emotional. I'm not a country music person but I really love this song. The message definitely gets through and I love how this video was put together. Often times music videos have nothing to do with the song and don't really add to the experience but this one did! 💞 Great job!
Holy crud! I thought, "that looks like the guy from Good Mythical Morning." Clicked and confirmed... and then was BLOWN AWAY by the song and the performance. At the risk of stating the obvious: he can REALLY sing!!! This is exceptional, not because it's "that guy from GMM," but because it's a genuinely great listen. He's been holding out on us! 🙂
Obviously you haven’t seen any recent episodes of GMM? They’ve been talking about him putting music out..this is his 2nd song. The first one was Believe Me…enjoy!
Obviously you havent seen his old duets with link

@@ShinoaburameX3333 WAs about to say. They started out writing jingles for comercials and the like, and have done tons of sketch-type things with songs.
He and Link each have a long standing musical and writing career. They may not have released songs like this, but made commercials and more comedic pieces like "Rap Battles of Manliness"," Nillawaffer Tophat", and even in their UA-cam Red Original series, "Buddy System", just to name a few. If you haven't checked them out, you're living under a rock :)
As a brit I'd say: "Not too bad!"
As an American I'd say: "GOD DAMN THAT'S GUUD!"

I've never had an artist I knew this well. I can really understand the lyrics and know their journey. ❤️
Oh how lovely. I couldn’t help but have the biggest smile on my face the entire 4 minutes. Such a beautiful way to celebrate Rhett and Jessie’s love story - harmonising gorgeously with some highlights of their journey so far.

This song is just… it just came out of left field… always seeing Rhett as a silly, tall goof on GMM and hits us with this…amazing song and wow, what an absolute talent. Love it!
i literally never listen to country, and i’m realizing it might be because of it’s usual political and religious connections because this song has been on repeat for me all week, both of you are incredible! what a phenomenal song, hope to hear more in the future! 😊

Wow, this actually made me break down in tears. As someone who also grew up as a christian, and have since left the faith and felt kind of lost, this really resonated with me. "Finally put down our crosses" that hit me really hard. Great work as always, Rhett!

Cant give enough accolades to Rhett for another great song. I feel especially emotional and proud to see Lily Neal’s name in the credits as well
OMG I DIDN’T NOTICE THAT!! thats. so sweet actually brb tearing up
I have always loved love.... but this is pretty special.
At first I was thinking this was a generic love song and I thought I wonder what his wife thinks about him singing this song with that lady. Then I realized that's his wife, that's sweet. And then I realized the lyrics are talking about how they met as evangelicals and throughout their marriage they've moved beyond that together. And I actually got kinda teary eyed. That's a good love song.
As someone who wasn't raised in a very religious household, been atheist since I was 16, and is very single; this song still hit me pretty deep and had me crying within the first 30 seconds of it. Its a beautiful song, Rhett. You both sound fantastic and I'm glad you two had each other through your religious deconstructions. I can't wait to hear the rest of this album.
It sounds like you've got empathy and emotional intelligence. It also helps that Rhett wrote a good, heartfelt song. Those old videos and genuine smiles between them get you too. You feel that love.
It isn't a bad thing to have a set of morals and feel a greater good watching over you. They are only spiteful because of the religion type and people they were around. Stop considering religion as joining a cult and make it your own. God isn't the enemy, it's people who misinterpret or force their idea of what god should be onto others. Otherwise you can join the California cult of depression, anxiety, and lack of direction.
It's a love song... what does being an atheist have anything to do with this? I bet you say you're an atheist like 50 times a day.
@@ajcf6gze38jvf Rhett mentioned that his religious deconstruction is a huge part of the album. I bet you just get offended instead of bothering to learn about the context of things.
@@justdrop this particular song is a live song though
Rhett makes incredible music. I wish everyone would quit saying "i dont like country but i like this" stop closing yourself off! You like country! Its just a different type than you are used to hearing. Look up tyler childers, willi carlile, sturgill simpson. Come on guys, you cant say you dont like country and then act like this is the only country that exists like this! Anyways i love this stuff im glad to hear rhett make such heartfelt and emotionally saturated music.
this is what i’ve been saying for so long
Of course one can say that, as surely as I can say I like tuna salad and shrimp and hate every other type of seafood. See? :)
Yeah, not into them. I don't like country, but I like Rhett. His personality outshines the genre here, but I still really hate country music.
Exactly! Every genre of music is connected. Wouldn’t have country without rap…wouldn’t have rap without classical. It’s all intertwined together💜love your comment

I just love this song, but the best part is seeing the total peace and contentment in their faces especially Rhett's. That look is life goals!
Not much of a country man, especially American country (not from America :D), but honestly this is great! Reminds me of those "old-timey" folk songs but in a really good way.

I just wish Jessie’s track was a little more in the mix. Maybe it’s not a full duet, but just a teeny bit more.
It sounds like her voice is a little quiet in the mix. It's a shame because the harmony and her voice are both beautiful. Also like holy shit what a great song.
The absolute best song off this album. Their voices blend so perfectly and the love in their eyes 🥺😭💕
Not me sobbing on my morning commute over a couple on the internet that don't know i exist 😭 I've been a mythical beast for 11 years, now. And I can not express how happy it makes me to see Jessie there with him. Their voices are so beautiful. and their story, as told by the images and video in this MV have expressed, is equally as such. thank you. I'm so very proud of you ❤
I’ve heard “believe me” and this song so far and I love them both ❤️ I can’t wait to hear the rest! This is what happens when you take the lyrics just as seriously as the melody, greatness.

Choking back tears! This is so beautiful and you can see the love between Rhett and his wife. Makes me think I’m with exactly who I’m suppose to be with❤️ Might need this song at my wedding someday

Her voice blends so perfectly with his. I’d love to hear her sing alone. Love this couple so much.
he said he had to convince her. so we can hope but it might take some time ;-)
Well I'm smiling ear to ear and crying my eyes out at the same time. This is beautiful. ❤️
This is a great song full of old country vibes. In fact for me this song is very reminiscent of the George Strait song "Amarillo By Morning". The first time listening to this song "Amarillo By Morning" popped in my head. And after listening to both songs I heard similarities in the beginning of the songs and in the tune used for the verses. Similar style, similar beat, etc. Have a quick listen to "Amarillo By Morning" ( ua-cam.com/video/FbVISS-lEAc/v-deo.html ) and this song and hear what I mean...
This isn't my own story, although it's simply wonderful, but I can't help thinking of my husband when I hear the refrain "I don't know where we're going, but I know I want you to go with me. Don't know much about the destination; as long as you're there, that's where I want to be." I can still say that after 45 years, although time is growing short in our old age. ♥️
Hello there Dawn nice meeting you here
This is absolutely beautiful 🥹 also… was that Barbara
This made me tear up! Especially when you sang about watching your two boys turn into men. You've both come so far and grown so much and stuck together through it all. True love!
This moved me to a few tears. Their love and connection is so genuine you can hear it and feel it in these lyrics, the video was such a beautiful bonus. Can’t wait to see and hear what comes next!

Also me: IS THAT PUPPY BARBARA? 🥹
I never post on UA-cam, I've been watching gmm for 7 years now and I have always known you had extreme musical talent. My mother and I lost my father last year and country music has gotten us through a lot since then. I listen to death metal mainly, but as far as my country music knowledge goes, this is up there with the greats. Dolly, Johnny, and the rest.
Your message is so important, I've been questioning what I was taught in church the last few years, I'm not sure if I'll ever let go of the community even with their brokenness, but I've let go of so many toxic beliefs I held. Thank you for being brave and deciding to make your own path in life and showing the world that its OK
Return to the truth! Your salvation depends on it.
Your relationship with God (or lackthereof, if you so choose) doesn't have to depend on the Church. His love in unconditional, which includes your membership to a community that does not nurture the love and support for all His children. He gave us free will and so long as you continue to do your best to be kind and love others, you are still living the life He intended for you. As a Catholic, it took me a long time to come to terms with that. Good luck on your own journey!
@@saraschneider6781 Sara, I think and hope we all aspire to something greater than simply a hedonistic eternal reward. Pursuing a faith for the reason of salvation, I believe, is simply just humanism moved into a different place.
While I don't really associate with some of the modern American distortions of what I think the original message was, I do want and search for a relationship with God, hopefully solely for the relationship alone and not whether I'll be rewarded with eternal joy and bliss or not. Otherwise, I think it's just hopping from one kind of spiritual deadness to another.
@@stephaniedoan8118 Thank you so much for this message. This is exactly where I'm at in my Catholic journey.

Yes..Never realized this was within the scope of his personality, lol. So very sentimental and sweet, I wish him luck and hope his music career goes far 🙂
This sounds like Jimmy Buffets “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere”
I hope Rhett sent a copy of this to Jimmy Fallon....I'd love to see these two preform this on the Tonight Show
omg the clips of them throughout their relationship really ties it all up together ahhh it’s beautiful
I really like seeing the sincerity Rhett has here. Beautiful song.
I've had my own reckoning with my faith and having shed its weight for courage. Good luck with the album brother.
I never leave UA-cam comments. But damn. That chorus resonates so damn much with me. After 12 years with my partner and 3 years of marriage under our belt, this perfectly sums it all up. That's what it's all about. Going to be holding her a little tighter today. Thanks for this. I can't wait to hear the whole album.
Your harmonies are gorgeous... This is a truly great song... I could totally hear this on the radio...
Same review as 4 months ago, need to hear wifey way more. You or your dude toned her out almost entirely. How bout no?
This is beautiful, Rhett. Made me tear up a little. Thank you for sharing the love you have for your wife with us. 💜
Wow - it‘s great! I like it even more than Belive Me
That was really amazing. The song itself was amazing, but watching the videos of You Jessie Locke and Shepherd just pushed it past the top. I've watched GMM for almost a Decade now and seeing you do this just puts a huge smile on my face.
There is an old skit/song from Steve Martin, "Atheists have no songs". In that same tradition, songs and art about atheism and agnosticism have been comedic, or angry, or both, from Carlin yelling at the priests, to Burnham pretending to be god, to lamenting the fact that we have no songs. Well, Rhett, you have given us those songs Steve asked for, complete with the anger, the feeling of jumping off the invisible bridge of faith, the acceptance of the scarlet letter given to us by the faith, and the struggle with brushing off the human need for truth and meaning, yet instead of comedy you give us raw and true emotion, and a new sense of belonging.
The music, video, and the overall feeling of it makes me sooooo happy. Great stuff!
I have never felt lonelier 🥲
On a more serious note, y’all are adorable. Loved seeing you two through the years. This was the perfect music video - simple yet effective and brought me to tears. Can’t wait to stream it nonstop!
You guyssss! This was sooo beautiful! The production on this was so great, it made you look like the cutest rockstars ever.
Jessie, your voice is very sweet and you looked great here!!
Rhett, the songs are amazing, I can't wait for the whole album, even though I really never cared about country and don't even have the American cultural background, I am so excited!
This song is honestly a perfect representation of what it's like to go through a faith transition with people you love ❤️ it's beautiful and speaks volumes
Who's cutting onions?? 😭💕
Chills. This is beautiful, Rhett. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.
Wow. Just wow. Why am I sitting here crying? It's so good. And it's so encouraging for young love! I love this, thank you Rhett and Jessie!
