hey morgan! im a junior in undergrad majoring in graphic design and ive been watching ur videos since u finished ur bootcamp. u have been such an inspiration to me! I recently got a paid ux design internship after self-teaching and ive have been working there for a month now! i wanted to say ty for ur awesome and realistic content, u have been such a big help!
Glad you mentioned redesigning a local companies website, that's exactly something I just started. First video I've seen of yours, I really like your honesty, look forward to seeing more! 🙌
Thank you for sharing. I'm exploring the BootCamp option, but this video made me think more about self-guided study. I have over 10 years of professional experience, including project management experience, and am a pretty disciplined learner/person in general. I was originally drawn to a BootCamp because I love group work and meeting people through educational endeavors. But this got me thinking I could probably be a more active networker in addition to my studies and save a chunk of cash! I'd love to connect with others that are considering self-study or have used self-study to change careers into UX.
@@SM-ci2lq I landed a 12 week internship through a local ux meetup community! Just started today. Hope to get good real work experience and a better case study to add to my portfolio and resume.
Hi Morgan. I’m looking at Career Foundry as well. It claims that there is a job guarantee. Is that how you got your gig? The 6 month time lapse before you got your final gig is a bit concerning.
Hi! I did not go through with the job guarantee program, I wish I had, but it fortunately worked out for me. It took me 6 months because I was very picky in my job search - I wanted to stay somewhere long-term. I also took a lot of time to work on solo projects.
Hi, I was thinking about getting an associates degree in graphic design and then transitioning into ux/ui design. Do you think that a bachelors is that much necessary for you to get a ux design job and get into the field?
I know someone who doesn't have a bachelor's but did a bootcamp and got a UX job (it did take a while though). I really can't say how much having a degree in something affects your job prospects because I do have a degree (even though it's not design related). When our team is hiring and I look at resumes I don't really care about education, I immediately look at the portfolio. So your main struggle would be getting past the initial screening that gets you to the hiring team.
Hey, I am planning on starting a bootcamp soon and i wanted to ask if you know whether i can start a bootcamp at any month of the year or if they set a fixed starting date?
I haven't taken it so I can't really speak on it. All I can say is that I chose not to take it because of the price and I believe they encourage you to go full-time, which didn't work for me. But others have gotten jobs from it!

OMG that's amazing! So awesome to hear a success story, congrats!
Any tips for finding resources and how you provided yourself structure while self teaching?

So happy you found this helpful! :D
Great video, Morgan - thank you for the context and food for thought. I start my CF UX BootCamp next month.
That’s awesome! Good luck with the course! :)
How is the bootcamp so far? Deciding between CF and DesignLab.

That's awesome, I wish I had your discipline. There are Facebook, Slack, and LinkedIn groups out there. Also Reddit!
Starting my UX/UI bootcamp with the University of Denver next month! Super excited!!
Best of luck!!!
@@MorganUX thank you so much!
I clicked so fast. Might be starting in May
Hahaha I thought it was a glitch to get a comment so quickly hahaha. Would love to know what you end up doing, best of luck!
I just finished mine with Designlab (finally)! Competition has gotten fiercer though with all the recent layoffs 🥴
Ugh I’m sorry that you have to deal with that. Congrats on graduating! 🎉
Do you have a new job update?

@@ForeverHeHim Hey wondering if you have an update how was the bootcamp? any updates?
How long did designlab take you?
Oh fellow New Jersey designer, represent 😸 🔥
Aaaayyyyeeeeee 🔥🔥🔥
Do you think i should get into a bootcamp if i have no degree? Im also in my late 20’s so going back to school isnt really an option.
Can you switch to ux after a vfx and 3D animation bachelors?

Thanks @@MorganUX I’m leaning towards not going to a course. Think I can grind on my own and get something decent. Thanks again.

Depends on the bootcamp! Most have 'cohorts' that start once a month or biweekly. Each one is different.
opinion on general assembly's bootcamp?

Can the degree be software engineering??
People join the UX field with all kind of degree, your software engineering degree is probably more relevant than my international business degree!
😍😍😍😘😘🥰
