It isn't just racism. The lack of morale in general displayed by academic and professional services staff at Exeter is ridiculous. One of my tutors (Lynne Oats, MSc Accounting and Taxation) disclosed a personal email of mine to other tutors and the students in my class and refused to admit it. She did it without my permission as she thought it would help me but sadly it caused nasty consequences. I made a complaint to the Business School student services staff. The reception staff who I complained to (Rebecca Bristow) had been very rude when I raised my concerns. She rolled her eyes and spoke in a sarcastic tone. I also spoke to the Exeter Information Governance Officer (Dan Bristow) which didn't help, because he turned out to be the rude Rebecca Bristow's husband. After I made the complaints, I received insults and sneaky comments from my other tutors in class, both directly and indirectly, as a consequence of me reporting them. My year in Exeter has been appalling, having my personal information being divulged without consent, treated disrespectfully by the reception staff, and not taken seriously by the Information Governance team. With staff like that, it won't be long until the University of Exeter closes its doors.

2 years ago I applied to Exeter to study Medical Imaging, had the interview and got rejected. Ngl I was disheartened, but now I'm at another university studying a degree I absolutely love. 💙

As a state schooled northerner, I went to University of Exeter for an open day this year and could not believe how non-diverse it was. I spoke to a girl from Lancashire who said that she was the only northerner in her course of 600 people, let alone that she was one of the only state schooled students there!!!
Why would you go to exeter if you are from North? People like us from North usually go to Durham, Newcastle, Manchester or unis which are close to us. It does not worth to go Exeter. It's not even so prestigious comparing to LSE, UCL or Oxbridge. Durham is a way better than Exeter.
lmao exeter fucked me over too. so BASICALLY: I wanted to go to Exeter for years (literally had a picture of the campus in the back of my wardrobe since I was thirteen and a mug from Exeter too lollll) and I went on this summer school in year eleven and LOVED it. so I then applied there even though by this time I wanted to go to Birmingham and got my offer of A*BB and I thought that was cute bc they were my predicted grades even though the course I wanted to do was AAA. I sorted out my accommodation; worked my arse off for my a levels etc. fast forward to results day: I get an email at 6:30am like "lmao you didn't get into the course you wanted but come to our penryn campus for a different course!!!!" 1. penryn is literally ten minutes from my house and in the photo of the peninsula showing the uni YOU CAN SEE MY HOUSE 2. I ticked a box when I applied to say I don't want to hear about any other courses BUT LOL EXETER IGNORED THAT so by this point I'm losing my shit like "oh shit I failed classics" so I get into college for 8am but at 7:30 track opens and Bham offer me a place (their offer was ABB) so I'm like oh I didn't do that badly then. SO YEAH I GOT ABB. as I'm opening my results and firming Bham I get a call and it's this Exeter student. she's like "hey so we're calling from the penryn campus. I live in the same village as you so do yo have any questions about studying at penryn so close to home????" like they're bloody GROVELLING for my tuition fees lol. and I'm like bitch I'm not coming to penryn I told you this when I applied in October lol. so yeah Exeter have no regard for potential students and I'm honestly so glad I'm going to Bham not Exeter

Hannah Banana possibly due to the fact that Exeter has quite a large number of private schools to start with and private education here it’s wildly expensive compared to some other places in the country. Exeter is the best University in the south west, so with a lot of students already attending private school, they will probably apply for Exeter as it’s not far from home but they’re still getting a good level of education.

Exeter played me too. Applied for Psychology and Economics for their Flexible combined course back in October didn't get back to me until May a week before the UCAS deadline, only to say that they cannot take me onto that course but give me an alternative offer of just Psychology. I accepted the offer anyways. Said I can call on results day to change my course...was on the phone for 4 hours only for them to say apply online on the website on results day. Experienced the same with the home student vs International student clearing courses - they had so many courses for international students yet barely any for home students ( I ended up applying for some random course with the idea that I can transfer in September). They didn't even get back to me until 4 days later just to say no spaces available. Results day ended up being pretty stressful me 🙄
michoko I had the exact same issue, I wanted economics and psychology, they offered me psychology or another combo on flexible combined offer cause psychology was full. So I choice economics and sustainability. Hoping to change go straight economics when I get there in a couple of weeks. Are you doing something similar?

LOL I turned down Exeter I got the grades and they offered me £1000, I just didn't get good vibes when I visited, there's something shady about it I swear. So much happier at Uni of Birmingham, the campus is lush, the people are great and so diverse and I actually felt like they wanted me there. Subscribed to you bc you're hilar also

Hannah Banana A lot of them come from Exeter school which is a huge private school. Also take note that private school education in Exeter is really cheap. Coming from someone who went private in Exeter.
Hannah Banana possibly due to the fact that Exeter has quite a large number of private schools to start with and private education here it’s wildly expensive compared to some other places in the country. Exeter is the best University in the south west, so with a lot of students already attending private school, they will probably apply for Exeter as it’s not far from home but they’re still getting a good level of education.

Exeter played me too. Applied for Psychology and Economics for their Flexible combined course back in October didn't get back to me until May a week before the UCAS deadline, only to say that they cannot take me onto that course but give me an alternative offer of just Psychology. I accepted the offer anyways. Said I can call on results day to change my course...was on the phone for 4 hours only for them to say apply online on the website on results day. Experienced the same with the home student vs International student clearing courses - they had so many courses for international students yet barely any for home students ( I ended up applying for some random course with the idea that I can transfer in September). They didn't even get back to me until 4 days later just to say no spaces available. Results day ended up being pretty stressful me 🙄
michoko I had the exact same issue, I wanted economics and psychology, they offered me psychology or another combo on flexible combined offer cause psychology was full. So I choice economics and sustainability. Hoping to change go straight economics when I get there in a couple of weeks. Are you doing something similar?
