1:44 Hi, hello, RetroArch GBATemp thread person here. Feels weird even receiving credit for what are now over a year-old results of arduous testing. Slightly less weird, though, to see that the results still hold up. Unless massive changes are made to take specific advantage of Vita hardware, however, I don’t see it improving much beyond what this hardware overclock shows. Nevertheless, thanks for the small shoutout - even if it wasn’t by name!
I recall Sony saying that the cpu outside of the PS Vita is able to hit 2Ghz. Would be interesting to see if a dev-kit existed to show it's performance at that clockspeed.
I disagree about killzone. Although yes, there's not really any noticable difference between overclocking and not, using the vita grafix plugin you'll be able to turn the cap off, or at least move if to 60 fps from 30. The frame rate is usually 30-35 or even 39 without using lilicon (with 60 fps cap) , and over clocking to Max perf setting will make 41-51 frames average. Also you can change the resolution if you want try play with that for 60 fps. Some resolution settings in few games will make the controls mess up though
Thanks for actually recording your tests of this plugin! Maybe using this along with the VitaGrafix plugin to lower res could speed up some of those graphically intensive games.
I want to know this too, I'm thinking of hacking my vita for the first time just to play ratchet and clank collection and Jak and Daxter trilogy somewhat comfortably. 20 fps, Sony and the studio that they hired really pissed me off with that one.
I tested it myself, Jak 1 gets no improvement because of the 20fps cap but when overclocking 433mhz to 500mhz Jak 2 and 3 get a 1-3 fps boost in the open world and keeps the missions outside the open world at 30fps even when the resolution is upped to 544p

The narration's been pretty inconsistent in quality throughout these videos, too. I was a little under pressure to hit a time deadline, so it will be better next time around
@TheVitaGamer A Vega Apu could easily push 720p on a hand held. That's all it would need to considering it would be a small screen and with a mobile ryzen CPU it could probably run a couple games at 60 frames per second.
Just tried it out on my Vita. There is noticeable improvement in SNES and GBA titles. Still can't sustain full speed in Kirby's Dream Land 3 (SNES) or the THPS series (GBA) tho. However, the performance is noticeably better. Spyro: Season of Ice seems to be running full speed now.
