'The whole band can't solo at the same time'
Rush - Yes
Or maybe, "Hold our beers, eh?"
"the whole band can not solo at the same time, you crazy?!"
Rush: "Hold my Moosehead 🍺"
Correction: Hold my Moosehead, _eh_ 🍻
Kudos to the 4th member of the band; the audience. Thousands of people singing to an instrumental. What other band gets that kind of respect?
Vulfpeck! Dean town!
The singing along to an instrumental song is absolutely delightful
What’s crazy these are young kids in Rio listening to music that came out in the early 80’s as if it came out last year. And yes they are singing along with an instrumental. Proves Rush is a band for all ages… Love your reviews and reactions!
South Americans in general seem to have a deeper appreciation of technical and writing ability that manifests in progressive rock.
Millie, Geddy shreds on the bass on every song. The only band that each member plays nothing but solos, and they all fit together into masterpieces.
One of the few rock bands that had a lead bass player....
@@ffjsb There are a few others ... beginning with "Thunderfingers" with The Who; Chris Squire with Yes, and more obscurely, Jon Camp with Renaissance. But Geddy is in a world of his own.
Fun reaction. Beyond the ridiculous musicianship, this video demonstrates how much Rush enjoyed performing and pleasing their audience.
Only at a Rish concert will you find the crowd singing along to an instrumental song. It's an electrifying experience. Done it myself four times
When you can get a massive crowd to sing your instrumental songs, you're doing it right.
Epic indeed. I saw Rush twice during that particular tour. YYZ was always a crowd favorite but the 🇧🇷 Brazilian fans took it to a whole new level. This one never gets old!
Pure talent and musicianship! No autotune or anything like that..
All airports have a 3-letter designator code that is broadcast over the airplane radio in Morse Code. YYZ is the code for Toronto airport and Neil Peart plays the Morse Code for “YYZ” on the cymbal at the beginning of the song
My brothers and I were listening to this in the house in 1981 (with the volume turned up to 11), and my dad walked in. He said "That's YYZ." Our jaws hit the floor. He didn't listen to this type of music at all. How would he know? We stopped the music and asked "How in the world did you know that?" He then told us that the beginning notes to the song were Morse code for "YYZ". My dad had been a radioman in the Coast Guard and knew Morse code really well. We were very impressed. Miss him terribly.
Saw Rush live 6 times and every time it was incredible. They had so much fun on stage and it transferred to the audience. Unbelievable that 3 guys could produce that much sound and be that talented! Great reaction enjoy seeing you appreciate it.
What album did u first see a tour, mine was Hemispheres. What a show, RIP Neil
I saw Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, The Who and many others but my one real regret is that I never saw Rush live.
@@swampgator1957 My fIrst tour was Signals. Saw them many times and luckily saw their last tour with my son who is a fan. Peace.
@@dcola123 seen rush for every tour from Hemispheres through counterparts. Signals was a great show. When I started going to concerts which first show was Grand Funk Railroad cost $5.00,seen Led Zeppelin $7.50. Tickets just got to outrageous. Growing up I didn't go to bars I went to concerts
@@swampgator1957 Except for Power Windows and Hold Your Fire, I've seen Rush every tour since Grace Under Pressure. The only reason I missed those two tours was because I was in the Air Force and stationed in England at the time. Took my oldest son to see them twice - the first was R30 and the second was Clockwork Angels. All of them were seen in Ohio, except for R40, which I saw in N. Carolina, having moved to S. Carolina a few months prior.
My first concert was Cheap Trick headlining, with Krokus and Saxon opening. I paid $15.00 for that show in 1982. In between that and R40, I've also seen Aerosmith, Damn Yankees, Adam Ant, Yes (twice), Journey, Foghat, Donnie Iris, Depeche Mode, Kansas, Bon Jovi (in Las Vegas when I was in the Air Force), and The Spin Doctors. The last concert I saw was Weird Al about a year after R40.
Oh, and Katrina and the Waves doing their last show at the NCO Club at RAF Lakenheath in England before going to America to record their first album. I have a soft spot for any film, tv show, or commercial that uses Walking on Sunshine.
I live in YYZ! Rush are basically music gods around these parts. Now that you've dipped your toes into what legendary prog rockers are capable of, I suggest you try out Roundabout by Yes. Those guys are also top of the food chain musicians. You might fall off your chair! You've been warned. 😎
Agree with everything you wrote. Rush and Yes are fantastic!
Kudos to the people of Rio for this crowd's epic participation in this video. I've been part of some pretty good, very appreciative crowds up here in Toronto but this has to be the best crowd I've ever seen. I mean, they were "singing" to an instrumental!! How f*cking cool is that!?!
Respect!!
Greatest band ever!!!
Nice! Hello from Brasil! From Rush I also recommend the live videos of "Xanadu", "Red Barchetta" and "Frewill (the instrumental part is CRAZY!!!)" from the show "Exit: Stage Left". And also the official video for "Subdivisions" and "Tom Sawyer!
You would enjoy hearing the "isolated bass" video for this song. Probably in the Top 5 basslines in rock on most lists...number one on some lists.
Oh, Millie 🥰 I sure hope we get to see more Rush on here. There is just so, so, so much more greatness to experience 🤘😎
I was in this crowd. babe! This was Maracanã Stadium, november 23th 2002. Unforgettable!!! AWESOME!!!
Tambem tava la Sergio!!! Inesquecivel nao e nao?
Always love your reactions. Rush is the best.
Best rock trio ever period! Listen to those 2 records and you'll be a fan for life : 1: Permanent Waves 2: Moving Pictures. Then feel free to check the rest as I'm sure you will.
I love how you said you have to listen to the guitars... but you immediately gravitated to Neil Peart on the drums. They're all brilliant!
Ok... Millie is a Singer, Composer, and a Bassist that plays a HOFNER VIOLA BASS that is left handed like the Beatle Paul McCartney... She loves the Beatles & RUSH! I'm just saying that I think I'm in LOVE!😊❤🔥🎻
Rush is a lifelong journey. You could keep your channel going for years based on Rush songs alone.
The drummer is probably if one of the greatest drummer's of all time!
Now imagine seeing them live, I was lucky enough to see them 4 times, great show
I have seen them only once... but it was in Rio! :P
YYZ is Morris code. They do it at the beginning of the song. The call letters from the airport by where they lived in Canada
The song opens with the Morse code YYZ which is the airport designation for Pearson Airport in Toronto
Do more Rush! Keep it live!
YYZ was inspired by the morse code call sign of Toronto Airport
You know your band is on a whole other level when the ENTIRE STADIUM is singing along to your INSTRUMENTAL song.
🥰 More Rush! Cool Beans! ☺🐰
I stumbled upon your video by accident and had to subscribe to your channel immediately. Because, just as you react to the music, I react in front of my screen as well. I'm sure going to a concert by one of these great bands with you would be a double pleasure. In my mind I see us both headbanging together. 🤯😁
Love your energy :)
Rush: This is an instrumental.
Rio: Hold my Beer!!
Tres putos genios, una banda legendaria.
Rush: Writes YYZ with no lyrics...
Brazil: Hold our caipirinha's...
Great reaction. I remember when this came out back in the day.
If you not hear. Rush 2112 is a great song too. It is around 22 min. long. Takes up the full A side of the album.
I LOVE reaction videos without constant pause and rewinds!!!!!
THE HIGH PRIEST OF PROGROCK!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
What a great video of Rush playing a great song. Not sure why i watched another person watching it.
Did you pick up that the cords Alex Lifeson was playing on his guitar was Morse code for YYZ?
Neil clues you into that when he starts dinging the chime at the beginning. The dinging means the following message is in Morse Code. YYZ is the Morse Code radio call letters for Toronto Airport.
Alex is a flight enthusiast and has a pilot license and would often fly his band mates to gigs. The song is an allegory for them flying into Toronto on the way back from a gig. The songs theme is flight path, turbulence, descent, landing, end of flight.
If you listen to YYZ the Album version the ending is hilarious. Geddy and Alex have a brief conversation before they part ways after the flight. 😂
What I like most about this video is... The crowd chants to an INSTRUMENTAL! Leave to Rush fans :)
Brazil...
That's...
AN MUCH MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was on the Vapor Trails tour and I was at the Denver show. In the 8th row.
Yes let's love ir
Wow! Millie... your reaction was great! you had me jumpin' up with you! =;-D
You have a golden personality Millie!!
This is what happens when you cram six extremely talented musicians into three people.
how many know that Rush, who are from Toronto, Canada, named this song after the airport code call letters (YYZ) of Toronto International Airport? That's all it means.
Three of the very best musicians of the last 100 years.
Great song whit Rush :)
All of the people in unison! I love it :)
Welcome to the Rush Entity !! 😎❤
Hi Millie, I hope your music career is going great, I also hope that Rush have given you some inspiration after watching YYZ.
Peart #1 all time drummer
Ah yes YYZ, what an awesome city. Their home and mine.
And a new Rush fan is born, lol
YYZ = the international airport code for Toronto.
"That was sick!" Exactly the same thing millions of others have said upon their first listen to YYZ.
They didn’t know they had fans in REO. This was night 2. Listen to that crowd chant EVERY NOTE!
If you want to see Neil Piert and his full drums he does a solo in Germany you should check out
Hi Millie
Love Rush such awesome tallent
Very cool thank you!
Talking about trios,
you really just gotta check out some recent videos from The Warning, Live at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX.
They've released 5 or 6 of their songs performed at that Mexico City Venue 08/22.
Each was professionally recorded with excellent audio-video quality. Each shows that their live performances are even better than the studio version.
Totally awesome!
Thnx again
Rock on Millie🤘😎
The opening beats spell YYZ in morse code.
Great musical skill the whole band RUSH
Best drummer ever
Have seen Rush 9 times first time they played my high school in 74-75 The band of Goats absolutely the best progressive rock 3 man band ever. They sound better than a 5 man band Check out Xanadu Live in Montreal crazy good.
Darling Rush is a Canadian band 😊😊
if you watch their live in Cleveland 2011 Working Man they all are insane virutosos
Great reaction but if you want blow your brain, must watch Rush Working Man live in Cleveland. Again great reaction
If you want another power trio, I would absolutely recommend you check out Muse. I caught them a couple of times at Glastonbury but I have to say that “Knights of Cydonia” recorded at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome is just Epic.
'YYZ' is the airport code for the city of Toronto, Canada... the track itself was a bit of a joke. During the 1980/'81 sessions for 'Moving Pictures', Alex Lifeson (guitar) decided to take a break from the studio to fly his remote-controlled toy... So, Geddy Lee and Neil Peart decided to jam while he was gone. 'YYZ' was the track that they came up with... When Lifeson came back in, the track was done and just needed the guitarist to put in his parts.
I love Geddy Lee and Rush. RIP Neil Pert. If you love bass check out Less Claypool and Primus. Jerry Was A Race Car Driver has a fun groove. 😃
🔥🔥🔥🔥
"You could never get a crowd the size of a small city to sing along to an instrumental"
RUSH: "Hold my Kokanee."
Millie if you want to see shredding on the bass. Check out driven live from around the time frame of this tour!
YYZ= Pearson International Airport in Toronto
Although Rush isn't my type of band, this is my favourite from them. I love Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Closer to the Heart and Camera Eye.
Geddy Lee literally made love to this song that night LOL
Don't know if you've done it yet, but check out Neal Peart's drum solo, I believe from the same concert as this video. As always, great reaction.
Regarding the stairway scene I envision John Beluchi having at it with the guitar.
RUSH excellent band.millie.Reacction great.🇬🇧
One of my biggest regrets was not seeing Rush in South America. You want to see a fan base that appreciates progressive rock and has insane energy -- most South Americans. They also treat good musicians better there (I gigged in Los Angeles, you are treated like garbage even if you pack the venue time after time).
Hello Millie, i love youre reactions, publiqué una de tus songs de Limesublimes y hubo buena acepatación, sólo una pregunta... Por qué hablas tan bien el español?... Gracias amiguita por tus reacciones al rock :)
Watch Rush Working Man live in Cleveland. You will see Geddy Lee destroy his bass as well as Alex Lifeson destroy his guitar.
Enjoy
Not sure if you've ever seen the Professor's (Niel Peart) drum solo, but if you have about 13 minutes or so of time.. It's well worth the listen!!! Great Reaction Beautiful young lady
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Watch Xanadu from Exit Stage Left and see what 3 guys are capable on stage
Did you realise that the intro rhythm is YYZ in Morse code?
It's worth doing a UA-cam search for "isolated drums yyz" and then if you want to take it to 11, do the same for "La Villa Strangiato".
Ciao Bellissima, ascolta la versione contenuta nell'album Live " Exit Stage Left" ..E' fantastica, anche per il Drum solo di Neil Peart (R.I.P.)
Super reaction Millie. You need to now go listen to Working Man and La Villa Strangiato. Rush has always had incredible musicianship and were rightfully but very late inducted into the Rock & Roll HOF.
Kind of sad that the Morse code for international airport is globally recognized yet so few familiar with story of the man it was named in honor of.
If you'd like to see some more amazing performances from this show, be sure to check out Tom Sawyer and The Spirit Of Radio. Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦
🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🐐 🐐 🐐
Not sure how I had subscribed to your band but not this channel. I just fixed that.
About as good as it gets.

Q. What's the most incredible thing about Rush?
A. Yes.
Yes? Then what's the most incredible thing about Yes? Rush? Wait! That doesn't compute! 😆
If you want to hear a great rock instrumental, give "Frankenstein" by the Edgar Winter Group a listen. Also, "Hocus Pocus" by Focus. You'll love them.
