Im building this kit after a 40-year break, and am loving it, especially the cockpit cage and wheel wells.
The bonus of displaying the gun bays is a surprise. Compared to the kits I last built, its like chalk and cheese 😊
I really liked your comapison review.

Thank you! Wait until you try an Eduard Spitfire - it will be the fine wine to go with the cheese. Cheers!

@@jonsmodelkitreview4624 which kit is your recommendation?
I do like 1/72, but 1/48 is OK, too. I've limited space to display finished models.

@supercededman I have built several of the 1/48 Eduard Spitfires. All are fantastic. They are somewhat parts-heavy and precise (thoroughly clean up all sprue nubs), but they result in beautiful finished kits. Try a "weekend" version if you're not comfortable with photo-etch parts.

And now we have the Arma Hobby kit, which by all accounts is magnificent.

Right on! Though I wouldn't bin this one if it's in the stash. Cheers!

This kit is a blast to build. Constructing the tubular frame, the cockpit, etc. Lots of detail and all the pieces seem to fall together as intended. Those easily offset the omnipresent Airfix trademarks of flash, sink marks, EPMs, etc. Can't stand the clear parts, though, or the pebbly surface detail that is drastically out of scale.
As for best Airfix kits, have you assembled their new tooling P-51D (05131)? I think it debuted in 2015. This was an enormously fun and well detailed kit that was arguably the premier Mustang until Eduard released theirs in 2019.

I haven't built the Airfix Mustang yet. I would like to do a three-way build of the classic Tamiya, The Eduard, and the Airfix Mustangs like I did for the Bf109Es.

Definitely like the way your Hasegwaa kit came out. The Airfix looks like a nicely detailed kit , tough decision between the two . The fabric on the Airfix did indeed look a little more rough, and yet that is possibly a little more realistic as the airframe gained flight hours, especially in desert heat. The blue underside camo very interesting. I do like the 1/48 scale over larger kits. Only parts that make me nervous are the Cockpit cage, Have to be careful on cutting those off sprue and I'm all thumbs. Airfix definitely likes to mold a lot of tiny parts that can be difficult to work with. As always excellent kit review, I certainty think your style of reviewing the actual kit and not build is most beneficial.

Nice review. Have built the Mk I trop, and agree transparency is not the greatest. Kit builds up nicely though. Just received the hobbyboss MK I and considering you get some etch and canopy masks it's a good price at £30 UK. Have preordered the Arma Hobby 1/48 Hurricane. They are starting out with the Mk IIc but believe this kit will be amazing. Again, canopy masks included. We are being spoilt! 👍Subscribed

Thank you. Eduard has set a nice trend with photo etched bits and masks included in the ProfiPack kits. I need to check out the HobbyBoss and Arma Hobby kits.

I think the AIRFIX kit is a Mk 1,and I think the HASEGAWA kit is a MK 11C converted to a MK1. Well tidy review.
