Mine, too! First as a kid, and then again as I re-entered the hobby as an adult. Good memories!

It's a jewel. Always managed to find 1 here or there. If U're into Hurricanes, stash a couple. Many thanx 👍👍

Yes these kit are still very well need today. Good training kit like you said for the beginner. John don't know how old you are back back when I was a little yonker my dad and uncle taught me how to use a many of tools by the time I was 7 years old. Nothing to see me with a knife or sodering iron in hand. Most of these kids today have no hand skills like we do from years ago....😊

@richardjordan5036 I agree. It's sad but true. There is hope, however, and I have several younger modelers that I'm showing the ropes. If we don't spend the time teaching, we are part of the problem. Cheers!

Once I discovered Tamiya in the early 80s the snob in me began to scoff at Monogram and Revell kits and wondered why anyone would ever buy and build a Monogram kit. Now that I'm much older and wiser, I miss the fun of and enjoyment of the simpler kits and those weekend builds as a kid. Especially after wrestling with some Eduard and Takom kits the past few months. As always, very nice video and build.

@aleks1939 Thanks! I went through the same era of snobbiness. I remember dismissing a Monogram kit because it was a Monogram kit, and then having my attitude challenged by a much more experienced builder. He was right to challenge me. It was a good lesson to learn, and I'm thankful that he corrected me. Cheers!

I built this kit when I was around 12 years old. That was back about 1971! I remember it was one of the first kits I made with a complete paint job, all by brush of course. I wouldn't even think about building this kit today, but nice to see it's still around for the youngsters. I'm getting back into the hobby after a 30+ year hiatus, and currently working on the Hobbyboss Hurri MK1, in 303 Squadron BoB markings.

Hi Jon, this was my first of many 1/48 scale Monogram aircraft kits. My cousin and I went to see the movie "Battle of Britain ". We each came home with this kit. I believe it was 1969.

I remember way back around 1989-90 when Monogram did several dogfight combos and I believe the Hurricane was paired with the old Me-109E.
I still build the older kits like the Monogram Hurricane. Why? I grew up on kits like this and it's fun to remember when I first got them and do them with skills and tools that I didn't have back then. Another important reason is that's how you learn to scratch build. These kits give you a basic airframe and it's up to you as to what you add. I've been able to advance and hone my scratch building skills thanks to models like this. Is it still worth building? I would say yes. It's all in what you make it.

Hi Jon, congratulations for this great video, I'm no expert on hurricanes, I've only been able to build two models, an Italeri MK I trop in 1/48 which I thought was very good and a Heller MK II C in 1/72, which despite being in that scale seemed pretty good to me.
As for the kit you presented, I really liked the details, except for the wheel with the burnt axle term hahaha, a valid option if you want the movement of the wheel, as well as the movable landing gear, in both modes it still looks good, the panels and the corrugation with the effect you gave it look great, I like the results of the rivets.
Greetings Jon and until the next video, waiting for the Airfix in 1/24.

Hey Jon, I do like these vintage Monogram kits, ironically they were probably the only kits that engineered working parts . Plus the Spitfire always seems to get more credits over the Hurricane. I seem to recall a strategy that Hurricanes got the high altitude assignment and Spitfires with a little more maneuverability and speed performance at lower level defense roles, that might be vice versa Really a nice build out. Not sure I mention I've been off grid building wise. Living in BFE Pacific Northwest we don't get many visitors , however, my son and daughter in law made the trek recently so I had to disassemble my building area. It's almost back together and ironically might work out better. We loved the visit but I think have new rule to accommodate family at a nice local historic B&B :-) I definitely need to get my build ratio up - like my He 111 from your kit review and I found a pristine Spirit if St Louis that just arrived this week So that's two acquisitions from your reviews so far :-) Happy Modeling and Cheers BOB

Yes, it came out in the 1960s. I built it back then, no later than 1967. I later modified one into a Mark I. I recontoured the nose and put on a less-pointed spinner. I painted that one in Battle of Britain colors.

    Hi Jon. Cool old kit.
Those wheels remind me of melting vinyl tank tracks together with a candle and an old, bone handled butter knife.
    Never burnt myself (much!).
👍👍👍 the bench dogfights! Watch out for the crossfire!
(Had a Stug with working wheels/tracks recently. Couldn't resist driving around the bench a bit and attacking Tamiya glue bottle bunkers!).
