This is a series mostly for fun on a map I rolled on livestream while testing Norway, it was just too good so ignore. If you want to give it a shot, you can download turn 0 save from marbozir.com/civ5saves/norway-turn0.zip (won't work without Norway and InfoAddict, links to both in video description). Edit: Before anyone asks, I will likely do some Beyond Earth simultaneously, but I'm not sure when exactly yet.
thanks for civ 5 series..i m already bummed out of be..also i think god of the sea was better option and would have loved if you played spain on this map but that would have been op...:P
Ronza149 Nope, instant +3 food from a pantheon is amazing. Population is everything, I see a lot of people underestimating just how huge the snowball effect from population is. It's also not worth working a tile with 0 food 4 faith, I would not do it even if I got one for free.
Such great start is just the prelude to no coal, no aluminum, and no oil. I raged hard today when I rolled a start with 8 flood plains around the capital, 3 marshes in 2nd city, and 6 flood plains in 3rd city, and I'm not playing as the Netherlands.
I agree... I played BE all day yesterday and the night before. It was OK. Kind of tedious! I had the Adviser On and as annoying as he is he did help me spot my mistakes on Covert Ops fairly well. But, Holy Crap after a while it was boring and I did NOT have as many trade routes as I could have and they still were annoying to re-run again. In BE you have to get the Phasal Transporter. Moving some units (especially over water) is just to tedious. The fact that you do not have to search the world for other CIVs in BE is a drawback. By the time you have to fight them it is when you find out how hard it is to get to them because no boat units were used in early game to get a feel of the continents. At lease in CIV 5 I have a fighting chance with a Trireme while searching. My trick was if I got an Admiral early (Before Astronomy) you can move him anywhere. Just make sure your last move is on Deep Water because a Barb can kill him instantly. However, it is a good trick to scout out the world in CIV5 with an Admiral. CIV 5 is just a better game an very well polished next to Beyond Earth.
That's freaking awesome. I think the best start I ever had was when I was playing with a mod - Dwarves civilization that doubles production received from all mines. Started with 3 salt and a silver next to my capital. Needless to say, my capital was ridiculous.
I once managed to get petra in a coastal city surrounded by desert hills, playing as marocco and always sending cargo-ships with food to this city this city had over 60
Believe it or not i got once 72 pop was playing iimperial as aztec i think they are rly good for growth 10 from wonder 15 from aztec ability and from religion and i had lake victoria so close xD plus two food from it too thats op cuz i had 30 pop from unworking citizens and i had around 189 hammers
As a resident of Norway, I find this LP very entertaining! Oslo is gonna be a biiiig city... I kinda wish Norway got extra gold from oil as well as fish (at least oil in the sea, or maybe even have a unique Offshore Platform improvement that gave bigger yields from oil), it would fit the civilization very well, us having our crazy oil reserves and all.
Great video Marbozir! That start is amazing! 3 wheat, the cattle, elephants, horses, and sheep!!! LOL xD excellent! I am looking forward to this series. Thank you for sharing this gameplay.
Peto111222 Thanks man, I didn't realize, my eyes are now open to enlightenment. Now that I know that he is playing Norway I can soon become omniscient as I am far closer to knowing everything. Please wise master, tell me more.
For future reference, Marb, One With Nature turns Fountain of Youth into a workable tile. The only reason it's unworkable now is that it doesn't give anything for being worked until you give it things like faith and culture.
I had once made an amazing religion as Norway. I had Sun God and Feed the World, so on top of Stave Churches and a very good wheat start, I had HUGE cities.
Let's hope Babylon gets as many wonders as it did on the stream! In 2 attempts of this map an unknown AI lost its capital. There is a small danger of a huge AI rival late-game. Looking forward to this.
I was watching this on stream the other day, and felt really curious on how this playthrough would develop since there was no time to give it a true go in Twitch.
I've just watched Angry Joes review of Beyond Earth and he NAILS my thoughts on the game. All of its improvements over Civ V (such as aliens being far more interesting than Barbarians and satellites) have been buried under its passive AI, uninteresting factions and bad user interface.
My best start was with china, my capital was right next to a mountain with two one block cutoff points, had four wheat in range, two gold, one gems, and also whales. I got sun god pantheon so I had 7 food for each of my wheat by turn 60, and I had 20 pop by turn 110. Also it was coastal, but easily defended since there was only one block of ocean.
If you take one with nature pantheon, or + culture from natural wonders passes at congress, then fountain of youth tile will become workable with + faith or culture yields. Not that amazing, but still a possibility
That is a great game, the greatest in the series and i Marbozir played might and magic x legacy so he could try homm3 too or he will try homm7 when is out
"Contrary to the in-game description, the bonus applies to land-based military units only. Civilian, naval, and air units - including Helicopter Gunships - will not get the bonus, even if you get them close enough (e.g., by building a city next to the Fountain)." ~ Civilization Wikia
Marbozir They won't. The fountain only grants this bonus to land units, excluding the helicopter gunship. However if you were to have a lancer/pikeman/spearman with the upgrade, it would upgrade to a gunship with that promotion.
First of all, thank you for countless hours of fun. Secondly, please do more Civ5 and don't put too much time into BE as it is broken by dessign. Finally, I was waiting to try this fantastic start myself sine I saw it on stream :) I downloaded turn 0 autosave, but I couldn't play it! I have everything you have in terms of mods and DLCs except one listed under DLC called "Upgrade Data 1" I have no idea what that is! I have the latest patch and I even verified my game files from steam. Any ideas?
I really enjoy your videos and style of commentating. I also enjoy your selection of games. Just one question, why don't you pledge to protect the city states you want to ally anyway in order to reduce the influence loss per turn?
Looking forward to another good series - tried to load the map but seems it needs the Scrambled Nations DLC packs as well? - which I haven't got round to purchasing yet. Deciding if it's worth paying another £4 - not much in its own right but all these expansions for different games start to add up.
The only city I've ever seen that's better than your cap was a city I placed at the intersection of 3 rivers, most workable tiles were floodplains and it had 4 wheat 3 gold tiles. Insane growth and prod.
Why would you waste production on a scout when you spawn on a small continent that your warrior will explore in no time? Also you realise you get a free momument from tradition ye? That means that both the scout and the monument was completely wasted.
You should just post the map save file in addition to the turn 0 save file, I'd love to play this map as Spain :D I noticed there is the great barrier reef somewhere too (it was revelealed from the passive bonus I think), and it would be crazy fun to mess around with the double bonus from natural wonders on this map :)
Im pretty sure if you start the game he posted, you can then go and save the map yourself and be able to play it whenever you want as whatever civ you want. Spain would be ridiculous on this map.
Nice Map Marbozir...Nice Start. So you HAVE to play as Norway? That is the part I do not like but oh well. You will need the Fountain of Youth if Japan is south west like you said. Yeah you are going to get spammed by Babylon big time religion wise... *EDIT:* Speaking of SPAM...Feel Free to 'Spam Us' with a lot of videos in a row of this new game. :-)
Mab what's the resource above your city that's like a picture of cattle silhouettes but it's not cattle since that's south. Please explain someone what it is
Because it gives no real benefit to you (only 5 influence) and it can cause you some trouble. When an ai starts attacking the city state or demands tribute, you will either lose influence with the city state (-20 IIRC) or anger the ai.
This would be a great start for Venice. You wouldn't get the natural wonders, but with all those nearby CS that you could take over and use to ship food to your capital you could probably end up with a 50+ pop city. I would have gone for One With Nature pantheon for sure, but I wouldn't bother going for a religion with Babylon going Piety. Instead I would plant the first Great Prophet. This would give a decent faith stream all game (also with shrines and temples) for buying religious buildings (hopefully Babylon will have pagodas or something) and for purchasing GE's later.
Having a religion is definitely nice, but I tend to either go all out (usually if I have a religion-based civ plus good faith pantheon) or basically not at all when playing Deity. However even if I don't go for a religion I like to have a decent faith per turn for faith buying GP later (and buildings when possible) so that is where the planted Prophet comes in handy.
Marbozir i dont undestand why you constructed a monument if you were going for tradition.... wouldn't those early hammers be more useful to something else if you got a monument for free?
+Mmm Mmm without first monument its very long to get social policies. No culture, no policies, no free monuments. monuments give you culture and expand the city, its the second things to build after scout.
Just finished a full 400 move game. I wanted to blast off into space but I felt culturally threatened by Spain around 350... I was already pretty much hated on the map, and was the aggressor. I nuked Spain just for fun. I was literally fighting multiple wars at all times starting around turn 100.
I'm a little confused, i downloaded this new Enhanced user interface mode, but i don't see how can i check my info addict, the only way i found is to go to some AI open the trade window and then go to info addict. As i see on your sceen you have one aditional option in the upper right part of the screen, is thath the shortcut to info addict cause i don't have it, the mod works but don't know how to fix the issue with that shortcut
I would really like to give this map a try but am encountering some problems. I downloaded everything and installed the mods but Civ 5 is telling me that I am missing the required dependencies to play as Norway. Anyone able to help me out? What am I doing wrong?
I feel offended that the second city is Trondheim and not Bergen. Bergen is the second- biggest and most populous, and former-capital. Trondheim is just there.

That is such a good spawn jesus dude you already have a advantageous start
Thanks Marb
thanks for civ 5 series..i m already bummed out of be..also i think god of the sea was better option and would have loved if you played spain on this map but that would have been op...:P
If I told you "one with nature" does make the fountain of youth workable, will you regret your decision?
Ronza149 Nope, instant +3 food from a pantheon is amazing. Population is everything, I see a lot of people underestimating just how huge the snowball effect from population is. It's also not worth working a tile with 0 food 4 faith, I would not do it even if I got one for free.

Fantastic start = NO COAL HYPE
NO OIL HYPE!
Mr. Worldwide NO ALUMINIUM HYPE!
NO URANIUM HYPE!
schootsta
NO.....fuck I'm out of resources xD
Ben Johnston NO AI's TAKING THE SAME IDEOLOGY HYPE!
"If I enjoyed this episode please consider leavening a like......." Marbozir 2014 good grammar marbs since you enjoyed you just got my like
Lmao after your comment I listened again and he really says that :) but hey, can you speak Polish without mistakes ?
Marb speaks better english than some native speakers.
+Doğan Kutbay tak
Im so glad you are playing some Civ 5 as well as Beyond Earth.

However, it is a good trick to scout out the world in CIV5 with an Admiral.
CIV 5 is just a better game an very well polished next to Beyond Earth.
I've only seen fountain of youth once so far, but it happened to also be when playing as Spain. Happy days.
Wow, this is a really strong star.
Once I started in a spot with 6 salt in workable tiles of my capital and it grew to pop 49.
That's freaking awesome. I think the best start I ever had was when I was playing with a mod - Dwarves civilization that doubles production received from all mines. Started with 3 salt and a silver next to my capital. Needless to say, my capital was ridiculous.
I once managed to get petra in a coastal city surrounded by desert hills, playing as marocco and always sending cargo-ships with food to this city this city had over 60
nice one. had once a game as attila with a petra cap filled with sheeps on desert hills xD
Y best was an inca petra with 4 non desert hill/mountain tiles. They where all floodplain wheat. I got desert folklore and petra. I had 3 8/3 tiles
I'm really glad you decided to do this series. Thanks Marbozir!
Happy to see you back to civ 5.
Posting from 2018, still one of my favorite Marbozir playthroughs!
Been looking forward to this series ever since you streamed it!
I guess a start like that is as good reason as it gets to kick it up the last notch to deity and download that save :)
3 wheat , 2 whales and 1 gold.
Probably the impossible diety start city.
*togoodtobetrue*
Great video Marbozir! That start is amazing! 3 wheat, the cattle, elephants, horses, and sheep!!! LOL xD excellent! I am looking forward to this series. Thank you for sharing this gameplay.
Funnily enough, I've just watched Edge of Tomorrow, and now I see you doing a "restart" with this crazy map! Go Marb, Go! XD
I'm so glad you put this map up on youtube :D
Sun God was the right choice. You've said it before, population is everything. And getting it early is even better.
9:40 Well, it seems as though Monte's personality didn't change...
If only you were spain.
He's playing as Norway
Peto111222
Thanks man, I didn't realize, my eyes are now open to enlightenment. Now that I know that he is playing Norway I can soon become omniscient as I am far closer to knowing everything. Please wise master, tell me more.
Peto111222 Good spot sherlock
@@Peto111222 hello based department, it's me.
Haha yess! Can't wait for this series!
For future reference, Marb, One With Nature turns Fountain of Youth into a workable tile. The only reason it's unworkable now is that it doesn't give anything for being worked until you give it things like faith and culture.
The accent is strong with this one..
Haha cool video man. You've convinced me to install this mod civ.
Awesome game play vids man! Loving you accent, keep up the awesome work :]
Thank You for putting this map start up. I watched your early play on twitch and I'm looking forward to see how end game will play now.
wow amazing, Fountain of youth too! Out of all the years I have played this I have never been able to have it under my control
Fountain of youth becomes workable if you choose one with nature.
I had once made an amazing religion as Norway. I had Sun God and Feed the World, so on top of Stave Churches and a very good wheat start, I had HUGE cities.
Norway? Thanks Marbs!
This start is insane. Saw that stream too. :-)
this seems chaotic! loving it!
Insane. Just insane... :x What a start!
Let's hope Babylon gets as many wonders as it did on the stream! In 2 attempts of this map an unknown AI lost its capital. There is a small danger of a huge AI rival late-game. Looking forward to this.
That start is just insane.
Dat start... Best start I ever had was with the Netherlands next to single mountain and river with 14 floodplains... Welcome to polderland XD
I was watching this on stream the other day, and felt really curious on how this playthrough would develop since there was no time to give it a true go in Twitch.
I had one game with 3 naturual wonders 7-8 tiles from my capital... Suddenly I wished i was playing spain
XD i can imagine ... Just rushing spearman and buying 4/5 spearmen and just facerolling and stealing citys
+Amari Ajrulla or just insta buying settlers
ZeroneDY pretty much what i did
I hope you're planning to run food trade routes into Oslo and Trondheim, they will become Aztec-tier cities.
14:45 Marb asks siri. "I have 4 city-states close to me" :P
Marbz, hou HAVE to have at least one internal trade route to the capital just to maximize how big that city is gonna get.
I've just watched Angry Joes review of Beyond Earth and he NAILS my thoughts on the game. All of its improvements over Civ V (such as aliens being far more interesting than Barbarians and satellites) have been buried under its passive AI, uninteresting factions and bad user interface.
Lol so ironic I did to and I do agree with about everything he said.

Marbozir let's see some Rome Total War II or Heroes of Might and Magic III on the hardest difficulty?
I would love to see marbozir play Heroes of Might and magic 3 .
That is a great game, the greatest in the series and i Marbozir played might and magic x legacy so he could try homm3 too or he will try homm7 when is out
2 wonders? There was a popup for GBR aswell at the very beginning :D
If you were to settle the FoY city directly adjacent to the FoY, would your eventual sea and air units also get the healing bonus?
Good question. I actually don't know.
Too bad the city-state isn't trained in Immortals -> medic II -> unkillable.
Will be interesting to see how my home country fares in your hands.
First of all, thank you for countless hours of fun.
Secondly, please do more Civ5 and don't put too much time into BE as it is broken by dessign.
Finally, I was waiting to try this fantastic start myself sine I saw it on stream :)
I downloaded turn 0 autosave, but I couldn't play it!
I have everything you have in terms of mods and DLCs except one listed under DLC called "Upgrade Data 1"
I have no idea what that is! I have the latest patch and I even verified my game files from steam.
Any ideas?
The latest patch might be affecting it, as he might have played it prior to the patch and started uploading in chunks since this Part 1 release.
I really enjoy your videos and style of commentating. I also enjoy your selection of games.
Just one question, why don't you pledge to protect the city states you want to ally anyway in order to reduce the influence loss per turn?
Amazing Start FTW!! New Series Hype! ;)
Cheers, Ivan :D
It would be nice if air repair benefits from FoY. The healing pantheon works on it, so perhaps there's a chance.
cannot get this map to load, game says i'm missing some DLC content but i have everything. any ideas?
looking forward to this start and the norway mod. regards norwegian o7
Looking forward to another good series - tried to load the map but seems it needs the Scrambled Nations DLC packs as well? - which I haven't got round to purchasing yet. I saw this live soooooo crazy
Dang, Marbz's accent has changed over the years
TO WAR, TO WAR, TO WAR
Could you be Spain on this map ?
Why would you waste production on a scout when you spawn on a small continent that your warrior will explore in no time? Also you realise you get a free momument from tradition ye? That means that both the scout and the monument was completely wasted.
What was this science overflow fixed bug that was mentioned?
And thanks for the new series!
1 minute 30 into the video and then I realise it's actually Civ V and not Civ VI xD
Great vid anyways ;)
NO COAL HYPE coming later for sure.
holy shit, that is just...wow. I already like it, have a like :)
Spain would be ridiculous on this map.
coxworth50 Yea... Having ridiculous advantages is really funny sometimes :D
Im not really one to talk, but I dont see whats so good about lake victoria.
Its only a lategame floodplains-wheat tile....
Matthew Kiely think of it this way, its a free hanging gardens.
Try to get March on that warrior
Question. It says I dont have the required DLC to use the turn 0 start. Any idea why?
Nice Map Marbozir...Nice Start.
So you HAVE to play as Norway?
That is the part I do not like but oh well.
You will need the Fountain of Youth if Japan is south west like you said.
Yeah you are going to get spammed by Babylon big time religion wise...
*EDIT:* Speaking of SPAM...Feel Free to 'Spam Us' with a lot of videos in a row of this new game. :-)
So there's a new patch. Will they have new expansion/DLCs as well?
Hey could you tell me what mod you used to alert you whenever your border expands?
It's enhanced user interface
Thank you!
Hey Marbs, has the new patch affected multiplayer for you in anyway? Getting reloads like crazy.
Mab what's the resource above your city that's like a picture of cattle silhouettes but it's not cattle since that's south. Please explain someone what it is
Bison - it was added in the most recent patch. +1 food from the resource, +1 production from a camp.
Thanks. Don't have the game so wouldn't know but love the game!
When are you going to do Lithuania?
What's that tree icon to the east of your capital?
Do we need a new version of the UI-mod because of the new patch?
Insane!
Why don't you pledge to protect city states?
I would like to know
Because it gives no real benefit to you (only 5 influence) and it can cause you some trouble.
I think religion is always nice. Lets be honest, when doesn't the AI go piety? :/
Having a religion is definitely nice, but I tend to either go all out (usually if I have a religion-based civ plus good faith pantheon) or basically not at all when playing Deity. However even if I don't go for a religion I like to have a decent faith per turn for faith buying GP later (and buildings when possible) so that is where the planted Prophet comes in handy.
g8 start m8.
HELLO, I AM MARBOZIR!
How do I play this I cannot get it to be available to load.. any help
Do you have just this map? I don't play deity, but I kind of want to cheat and stick myself in that starting location with IGE.
+nain portequoi I almost always get more social policies than I need before rationalism, without building monuments myself.
Just finished a full 400 move game. I wanted to blast off into space but I felt culturally threatened by Spain around 350... I was already pretty much hated on the map, and was the aggressor. I nuked Spain just for fun. I was literally fighting multiple wars at all times starting around turn 100.
Where can i find this map ?
I'm a little confused, i downloaded this new Enhanced user interface mode, but i don't see how can i check my info addict, the only way i found is to go to some AI open the trade window and then go to info addict. As i see on your sceen you have one aditional option in the upper right part of the screen, is thath the shortcut to info addict cause i don't have it, the mod works but don't know how to fix the issue with that shortcut
Culture from ruins pop-up also fixed?
I love your avatar dude :-)
I misread and thought it's a new series...
When I use Norway, it says I don't have the right dependencies. I have all the DLC (G&K/BNW) and I don't know what to do. Any help would be great.
I would really like to give this map a try but am encountering some problems. I downloaded everything and installed the mods but Civ 5 is telling me that I am missing the required dependencies to play as Norway. Anyone able to help me out? What am I doing wrong?
imagine if you were playing as spain
I can't load the save.
Says: "Required DLC is not available".
It's cause u don't have Babylon
this guy sounds like one of the accents of ownage prank :D
Well gg.
I feel offended that the second city is Trondheim and not Bergen. Bergen is the second- biggest and most populous, and former-capital. Trondheim is just there.
one with nature +4 faith from natural wonder
dlaczego nie to ?
Im from Norway!
WHERES THE GAME SAVE?
norway?
