+Marbozir You should of downloaded other Britannica modded civilizations and load em up on the British Isles map. I tried this and it was awesome! I find with those types of maps though the AI spams cities and troops.
Just giving people a chance to catch up after I uploaded 41 XCOM 2 videos in 2 weeks (and a lot of them were really long, too). And I could use a break myself after that marathon.
I am so happy to have another Civ V series. I know a lot of your other viewers are excited about your other games but I really do love your Civ V series. Would be cool if you and Quill could do another Deity Twins :)
Finally, Marbozir is back on Civ5, what an amazing news for civ5 Fans.I know you already made a lot of series on CIV5 but man, you are the best in this categorie so deliver and fan will destroy the like button.
Yes!! I discovered you about a week ago and I've watched most of your Civ 5 games in order to try to improve at the game and I'm literally SO happy that I get to experience this Scotland Civ LIVE with everyone else and you.
+genaxide You watched most of his Civ games in one week. Is that even possible? Also last week was Xcom2 week. You must be dislocated in time or some other strange phenomenon.
Heres the main thing about religion on diety- rarely does your religion expand/persist much past 1-4 cities. so in fact, its best to get religious community. since that will remain useful even if you have just your capital your religion, compared to +1 happiness from shrines, not being too useful
Internal Monologue "Man, I hope he ignores Civ V to just upload Xcom 2 vids, I can't handle anymore marbozir hype." *XCom 2 is complete* *Civ V playthrough next day* Based Marbozir
General thoughs and comments: So basically, you'll want to build a lot of these Clan Castles and then go be a dick to AIs and provoke them until they attack you. :D I'm SOOO very happy to see both Polynesia and Iroquis in this game. I hate both of them with a passion. They love nothing more than planting cities in my face. And Hiawatha has a really nasty habit of asking for a DoF just before he does it so that I can't instantly burn the city to the ground. If he's my direct neighbour, I usually get two archers super early so I can stop any attempts at bringing a settler my way. The production spent on archers honestly hurts less than dealing with his obnoxious little villages taking all my tiles and expansion spots. I hope you take that hippie's lands and chop down those precious forests of his.
Comments on gameplay and decisions (Clicking Read More = Wall of Text): Regarding the placement of the capital, I would have settled on the plains tile next to where you spawned. I saw no good reason to move towards the coast, away from all the desert hills and the Petra Dream. It would have been a turn 0 settle with an imminent growth tile, a hill for production and chance to build Machu Pichu. Also picks up maximum number of river tiles, and in hindsight allows for perfect placement of other cities to pick up all the resources in the area. The spot you settled is somewhat short in early game production, but it might have some benefits later on. As for the second city, I would have taken a more aggressive approach (partly since my capital would have been closer). I would have settled the river plains tile next to the two gold tiles. Good production and food potential and picks up all sorts of resources. Not the most defensible city of all time, but with Hiawatha settling all over the place, would have been pretty easy to keep Indonesia occupied (as we see from 25:23). Also keeps the AI from settling stupid cities in the general area. For the third city, I would have settled on the Marble. With all the hills and abundant hills there, you probably wouldn't have the chance to work all the production tiles anyways. It would instantly add to faith, has instant access to the flood plain wheat, gives +1 culture from the UA. If you get a Stone Works (which you can't get on the tile you settled on) the base production yield of the city goes up to three, as opposed to the one on that plains tile. It still picks up the Iron as well as an additional Sheep tile and is closer to the capital. And I like settling on hill Marble in general, since it really helps with early wonder construction, it might make the difference between getting Petra and not (that tile would be the definition of Petra Dream). Anyways, that's my thoughts on the city placement. Not critisizing though, those are perfectly valid locations based on different capital spot. I'm really eager to see how this game turns out. As far as religion goes, with my city placement I would have gone for Peace Gardens and later Religious Community for Enhancer. The AI rarely takes Religious Community, so I think it's safe to pick some other belief first. In your case I might actually go for Feed the World, since Glasgow and Stirling aren't amazing cities when it comes to food. Also, I'm going to assume that building that Monument after picking up Tradition opener was a mistake. You could have had a maintenance free Monument only 3 turns later and instead spent the production on something else (like the Archer). P.S. Sorry for the wall of text, I can't help myself.
+briganda13 really, I never actually heard a Scot say Irn Bru haha. See so many chip shops, ridiculous amount haha, the ones near the beaches are very nice though.
Possibly a slightly underrated choice would be +1 food from shrines and temples. I often pick that one if not many are left and my growth isn't amazing. +1 food isn't much, but it's better than nothing
I would've settled on the wine myself. And yeah, even before you saw anything more than you saw with your warrior and settler first 2 turns. You get the wine when you research calendar and you don't need any time to improve it with a worker AND you get 2 GPT right after you settle on it AND you have 1 more grassland river tile for food. Even if you get monasteries you still get +1 faith and +1 culture from that tile even if your city is on it.
dude not that vanilla is bad but ........ CBP is the single type of civ v i play now .It s sooooo goood the religions are actually usefull and the cultural civs get a massive bonus for ideologys (for getting there earlyer) . i played as Poland on The Great Plains and had all freedom , tradition , astetichs( i don t know how to spell it ), statecrart and rationalism in the information era sooooooo.....( P S God of the open sky : 1 culture for every 3 plains and that s why i was able to get that many policys)
I actually kinda like having Iroquois on the harder difficulty, their usually loyal friends and help to keep the aggo civs in check. Same with America in my experiences. Unless they spawn next to you. Then be prepared to get choked by the flood of cities.
Some thoughts going in with this modded civ Liberty could be nice so you can build those castles faster. Also, building a greater number of workers could be a good idea to get more forts, since I don't think the forts have to necessarily be in your territory to generate units. also, Honor is a decent idea, but instead of going the warrior code into military tradition, I'd say go discipline and then military caste for the extra culture and happiness. This particular social policy, as you know, synergizes very well with Tradition builds. also the extra combat bonus will be devastating with the extra 50% bonus against fortified units. + these are attributes that will carry over into upgraded units, so try to focus on Iron. Finally, I'd suggest going wide and building 5 or more settlers. The free culture from adjacent hills could go a long way towards expanding your territory.
I don't know if this is still true, but when you last checked social policies, no one but you had picked up Tradition. So, after NC, you should grab the Hanging Gardens. That might make up a bit for the poor capitol city location.
marbz you should play a game of building as many wonders possible on diety ik its not ur style of play but, it would be cool to see u optimise ur cities to the maximum to build as much wonders possible!
+TheBabu406 Problem is that he simply has no chance of going for most wonders so it'd be a pretty shitty game where he misses out on wonders, doesnt build his cities up and just loses.
+ectoplasmicz Well I play on immortal right now and havent moved up to diety yet but i get easily 10+ wonders per game prety much all of the past the classical-midevil era and im no were as good as marbs in terms on civ I think as i just strated playing, and its not true about not building up cities because my main 2 cities have atleast 50+ pop by turn 400 because I get tempel of artimese and hanging garden almost every game.
yeah but have you noticed how on basically every LP of his he goes for very specific wonders, at specific point and explains it's because they are basically the only viable ones?
10:54 One game I lost, Spain had about 5 cities before turn 70 (on standard pace) and then they declared on war on me and ran me over in short order. This has the potential to be a fun game, filled with lots of wars.
Well this looks like it'll be a fun game of Civ from Marbs.... Really curious as to whether the Clan Castle will actually be used since it relies on him being attacked by another civ first. And from Ive seen from many of his LPs, it's usually the other way round. ;) Still, as an Londoner from South of the border, looking forward to see where this goes.......
I wonder if the free units from the castles come into play when you have a Defensive Pact and you bribe someone to go to war with your ally and thus yourself. Might actually make a defensive pact or two worthwhile. Also obviously if you bribe someone and then they go to war with you the deals are cancelled, so it might be a way to get free units.
+Thomas Roll Nope when a defensive pact triggers from a war declaration on your ally It's you declaring war on his attacker I found that out the hard way and got the BACKSTABER penalty for not knowing how it worked
Is settling next to the coast better than settling by a hill with Scotland's unique ability with the culture? Those desert hills would have provided culture, production, and faith.
Hey Marb maybe get a trireme going to search for an island to settle for a 4th-5th city if it's not too late with City-Spammer, Polynesia(ocean crossing from the start) and Indonesia(luxury bonus for new continent cites).
What elements of Enhanced User Interface do you have disabled? Yours looks pretty clean and similar to the vanilla game whilst retaining the best aspects of the mod.
Marbozir, first I would like to say that I love the videos. After watching you play I noticed that your Enhanced User Interface seemed to be have some different setting from the default version. Could you possibly tell me how I could change the settings?
Doesn't it waste gpt to build a library as soon as a city is settled because it only gives +1 science for every 2 citizens. So it takes at least 10-15 or more turns to grow to 2, so for those turns your using gpt for the maintenance on the library for nothing? Right?
I subscribed for some Civ5 mods in Steam but cant activate them. The game says they are active but i do not have the mod nations. How to get them ;/ Morbozir, is there a page where you subscribers can vote for the next nation you will play with?
+Marbozir Emperor player here. If I were playing, I would have bought a desert hill when building the settler to get both faith and production. Any reason not to do this? Thanks!
Why do so many youtubers play Civ without unit animations? The animations are part of the charm of Civ and make the (game) world "alive" in the first place. - If you want it to be so static, you might as well play a board game.
hi..i have a problem with mods. I play a few mods, nothing odd, only jfd and i have IGE , every time i try to play pangea or fractural or continents or anything thats original from game it does't show city states. I know because i see in IGE that i don't have city states. and don't know what to do.
i watched a lot of your games and i must tell that you are pretty skilled player but i quess basis on my experience that it's better to grab more gold. You will simply need to develop faster and maintance more units. I hope taht you can still win it coz it is rather a minor mistace. it's hard to predict a behaviour of AI on Deity.
Hey, how do you put the action options from the units, (Luke delete, attack, sleep, do Nothing, move and so on) to an extra box upbelow the unit left? Plz :)
How do you preview the city limits? I have EUI but I can only get that when using a settler and waiting a few seconds for it to show but it is annoying.
I have really bad experiences with Indonesia in this game. That guy is always attacking me... Anyways Petra in Edinburgh would be insane... If you can still rush it
Marbs: "Edinburgh with Petra... Imagine that. Wow. 7 Desert Hills in Range? HO HO HO. Daz just amazing."
+ECKSway yea it should be probably worth to take a gamble:p a profit are large and risk unfortunetly too.
Looks like another fun run in the making here!
Cheers, Ivan :D

+Marbozir Maybe you should put names from the comments into the pool for your XCOM videos for the next playthrough

so rare to see a letsplayer thats both a good gamer and a good entertainer. good work! keep it up

YES SCOTS LADSSS. LETS HAVE SOME BREWW WHILE WE WATCH THIS AYEEEE!

Scottish people don't say brew.
sincerely, a Scottish person😂😉
+briganda13 really, I never actually heard a Scot say Irn Bru haha. See so many chip shops, ridiculous amount haha, the ones near the beaches are very nice though.
+briganda13 except when you put 'iron' first ;)
oh, my mistake 😂 I thought you meant beer
+Abdullah Tariq i think you have something wrong. i think its " a scottish guy"
Congrats on the XCOM 2 completion, best 2 weeks and 41 episodes ever.
Man, I remember fending off the endless hordes of white walkers with Scotland. One of my favorite modded civs without a doubt!
Possibly a slightly underrated choice would be +1 food from shrines and temples. I often pick that one if not many are left and my growth isn't amazing. +1 food isn't much, but it's better than nothing
+Nick Lovatsis Same here, go fer food Marbozir then geet production perk with 2nd religion upgrade cuz it only really works later game
Been using the Enlightnement era mod lately cuz I saw you use it, and have to say, it's a really good one, so thanks for introducing me to it. =D
You didn't leave an archer on overwatch!
This series is going to be good!
I would've settled on the wine myself. And yeah, even before you saw anything more than you saw with your warrior and settler first 2 turns. 2 Minutes in, just saw your spawn and I'm already hoping you somehow manage to snag petra because wow that start!
I would like to see some more Victoria 2 if possible
More ck2
+fat Man Marbs has CK2 content?
He did a let's play with king rurik. But it was ages ago and I need more lol
Have you thought about playing with the full community balance patch? CBP is a pretty interesting mod. It really shakes things up IMO.
Yes, I love CBP. I've been playing with cultural diversity, rise to power, and exploration continued expanded too lately. It's pretty fun
dude not that vanilla is bad but ........
Same here. I can't go back to vanilla Civ5 now, just seems to simple and unbalanced to me. CBP offers so many more interesting and viable strategies.
+Eridan Ampora I have to agree as well. I can't go back to vanilla now that I have played CBP. More strategy options on higher difficulties.
Really liking the videos you have put out, still catching up on xcom 2. You videos are always good
I actually kinda like having Iroquois on the harder difficulty, their usually loyal friends and help to keep the aggo civs in check. Same with America in my experiences. Unless they spawn next to you. Then be prepared to get choked by the flood of cities.

Nice use of the Police Scotland logo for the emblem
I don't know if this is still true, but when you last checked social policies, no one but you had picked up Tradition. So, after NC, you should grab the Hanging Gardens. That might make up a bit for the poor capitol city location.
Standard civ 5 game, i've missed this format.
That Petra dream city tho.
That is quite an amazing start, although I refuse to believe that's really Scotland. Far too dry and warm.
marbz you should play a game of building as many wonders possible on diety ik its not ur style of play but, it would be cool to see u optimise ur cities to the maximum to build as much wonders possible!

Well aren't you amazing.
Jokes aside that isn't deity so not a good comparison.
ik its not diety but its the 2nd hardest difficulty.... and plus marbz will be playing so its easier for him since hes really good.
yeah but have you noticed how on basically every LP of his he goes for very specific wonders, at specific point and explains it's because they are basically the only viable ones?

finally some civ 5
Hey Marbs! Have you considered playing a game using the NQMod in a Single Player game? The balance changes make for a quite interesting game on Deity.
Thanks Marbs :)
"Cities are just stationary archers."
-Hiawatha the Great
Hey marbozir will you ever play a game with the community patch?
+HG Shurtugal He was playing with it on livestream and didn't really like it.
+Thomas Roll Nope when a defensive pact triggers from a war declaration on your ally It's you declaring war on his attacker I found that out the hard way and got the BACKSTABER penalty for not knowing how it worked
it was also a 15 civ game with 12 of them still alive and after the World Congress was formed so everyone knew about it
Still waiting for Marbozir's EU4 cossack walkthrough
Is settling next to the coast better than settling by a hill with Scotland's unique ability with the culture? Those desert hills would have provided culture, production, and faith.
Capital has wine... get brewing the Buckfast for that 20% combat bonus when fighting in streets, parks and bus shelters...
Hey Marb maybe get a trireme going to search for an island to settle for a 4th-5th city if it's not too late with City-Spammer, Polynesia(ocean crossing from the start) and Indonesia(luxury bonus for new continent cites).
Wooo, my Civ need is saved!
take advantage of the +2 culture bonus from cities with 2 adj. hills
Hi, Marbozir, will you use some of the mods form steamcommunity? There are some really useful and re-skin mods.
are you going to play with the future world mod or the Cities in Development mod? mainly the CID mod is very good
More than hundred turns in one ep - I suppose, it's a record!
Have you considered playing a game with the Community Patch Project?
How you thought of playing another game of "Deity Twins" with Quill?
Marbozir, are you going to play civ beyond earth? Cheers
I would love to see you go as Denmark, hehe!
What elements of Enhanced User Interface do you have disabled? Yours looks pretty clean and similar to the vanilla game whilst retaining the best aspects of the mod.
I wish the intro to the civ was narrated by Neil Oliver.
Play a completely unmodded game please ! So rare to see a deity game without mods :P
Marbozir, first I would like to say that I love the videos. After watching you play I noticed that your Enhanced User Interface seemed to be have some different setting from the default version. Could you possibly tell me how I could change the settings?
I use an older version. I didn't like some of the changes in new ones.
Ok, thanks!
Doesn't it waste gpt to build a library as soon as a city is settled because it only gives +1 science for every 2 citizens. So it takes at least 10-15 or more turns to grow to 2, so for those turns your using gpt for the maintenance on the library for nothing? Right?
Keep up the good work 💯💯💯💯💯
finally more civ :D
have you thought about playing on the true start location map?
I know it's not polite so please don't be mad but I have to laugh at how you say folklore and it sounds like fork lord. :D
I feel like Macbeth should have been the king in this mod :P
Prophet RNGesus ... hue hue hue
I subscribed for some Civ5 mods in Steam but cant activate them. The game says they are active but i do not have the mod nations. How to get them ;/
Morbozir, is there a page where you subscribers can vote for the next nation you will play with?
Yas mate! Go Scotland!
+Marbozir Emperor player here. If I were playing, I would have bought a desert hill when building the settler to get both faith and production. Any reason not to do this? Thanks!
+Julian P. More important things to buy with limited GPT, eg wine, spices, bison, library.
After this LP can you make an other LP on french civilisation with cultural Victory ?

Hey, how do you put the action options from the units, (Luke delete, attack, sleep, do Nothing, move and so on) to an extra box upbelow the unit left? Plz :)
So a good strategy here can actually be to have very few units, bait the AI into declaring war on you? And then poof, melee units.

Awesome
Finally!!!!!!!!!!!
When another Ep. of Victoria 2?
How do you preview the city limits? I have EUI but I can only get that when using a settler and waiting a few seconds for it to show but it is annoying.
You can change how long the delay is somewhere in the options (don't remember what exactly it's called offhand). Setting it to 0 makes it instant.
+Marbozir I'll take a look at it, thanks for the quick reply and keep making these awesome vids!.
what is the mod for his interface?
Good ol' desert forklore (sorry)

I have really bad experiences with Indonesia in this game. That guy is always attacking me... Anyways Petra in Edinburgh would be insane... If you can still rush it
