While I do agree that the allies in WW1 are the primary cause of Germany’s susceptibility to Hitler’s rise to power, we learned that lesson, and made both Germany and Japan our greatest allies to ensure a repeat wouldn’t happen. From 1997 onward is when North American and European developers became more involved, resulting in a larger variety of games being made. That is one of the reasons why I make a distinction between those two eras of gaming.
Why can't we go back to a time where race wasn't a factor in gaming, and just let us enjoy what we like. Their behavior has really become tiring and annoying.

ACTUAL revisionism is something amazing. History was written by the victors, so it's filled with lies. Uncovering those lies and correcting that part of corrupted history is wonderful. Like uncovering the real origin of the gazillion patents Edison had literally stolen or at least strongarmed out of people, or that Napoleon wasn't particularly short, it was just British propaganda. The problem is when when they do the opposite and falsely claim it's revisionism, like Will Smith's wife race-swapping Cleopatra and calling it a documentary. That's not revisionism, that's trying to corrupt history, what actual revisionism stands against.

Trucking on from that, China already implements what is effectively ESG for citizens. Say that you like a social media post that is considered "problematic." Depending on the exact content of that post, you may find yourself unable to qualify for loans, because your ESG score is now too low. Say your score goes lower. Your credit and debit cards will stop working. You may even find yourself unable to access banking at all, or unable to travel outside of your home province, or even your town.

I just raise an eyebrow whenever I hear these groups basically say “we don’t hire ‘insert race here’.” and then walk back basically saying they do hire others when they most likely don’t while saying they’re doing something good while dividing people in the process.

Because I know everyone sees things differently so an extreme could be different for others also this has a better range of getting people with skill into work rather than excluding an entire group of people whole could have a better skill, this is also just how I mostly feel about this stuff too at the end of the of the day because this is a better idea to me than just excluding people because you hate for something they can’t change.

The BIGGEST issue about what politics and gaming is this, Gaming is about creating a product that many people want to buy. The games that have historically succeeded are fun to play. Whether that be because of game design, immersive stories, fun multiplayer with friends oggling at attractive characters or some combination of these features, it's all about having fun. People are not, and should not, be looking to games to validate their existence or their experience. If you want that you should be looking at PEOPLE. This is why it is so frustrating to to see political agendas seaking to sink it's teeth into the gaming medium. As someone who IS very progressive politically, PLEASE just keep real world politics out of the gaming industry. We just want to play awesome games to make our lives that much more fulfilled, and I think gamers deserve that.
Maybe should make a point by leaving the cult and teaching them a lesson then?

I have a weekly meet up online with my black friend, which we've held for over a decade now. We have the time of our lives while making jokes about things only south park seems to touch these days, if you know what I mean. "Recreate stories for a modern audiences"... Who is that? Seriously who are they talking about? People in general? Yes well done people exist and we live in a modern time. Good job. They're not the smartest but I guess technically speaking they're correct. Even though that's not at all what they're talking about. They do know that no story is for everyone. Anyone can pick up a story and read/watch/listen to it but that doesn't mean its for everyone. You try to please everyone and you please no-one. There is a reason why genres exist. For example you want to get in the erotic novel sphere than your target audience is women. Yep research shows that around 60% to 70% of total sales is women for that genre. So you want a chance at making it big then you should please the largest demographic known to buy your series. Another example would be fantasy which is generally aimed at teenage boys because they're largest buyers of it.
"Rewrite new history" is very close to what a lot of extremely awful people have said. No it is very important to not at all touch history so we can learn from it. This is how you make a big mistake and start repeating things you don't want to happen. We need to use history to understand what caused a certain thing to happen. Why did our ancestors do this? Once you know that, you can stop it from happening it again.
What they think are modern audiences is just a airtight room full of their peers sniffing their own farts and then getting mad that everyone doesn't come in and sniff their farts and pay for the privilege to do so.

If you think old games are safe and you buy digital you are mistaken. They go back and censor, edit, and change old games constantly. They change them at the source so if you download them fresh you will never know.
Hard copies are the only safe option. Short of going full Captain Jack, but that only works for PC.

If you're on console you are already screwed. That's because this kind of bullshit isn't getting added in updates but rather is now being put in the game from the onset. On console, you usually aren't able to fix issues that are built into the game from the onset, but even if something gets changed in an update, you often have less recourse to fix it once the damage has been done, regardless of if you buy it physically or digitally.
Especially on the Switch where updating a game and trying to downgrade it by deleting the game data will lock you out of the game until you update it again. Then there are the games that don't even come fully on disc/cart meaning you need to connect to the internet to get the rest of the game, and therefore open yourself up to the updates as well (most consoles won't let you download DLC without updating game and/or console).
On PC, there are more ways to rectify censorship, even though most PC games are sold digitally. When an update causes issues, typically users will use the steam console to force steam to "update" to an older version of a game. This is what people did when Square botched a FFX/X-2 update.
Some devs also have older versions selectable in the beta menu. This is what Capcom did for the Resident Evil games when they updated the games to use DX12. You can also just back up the files themselves.
Lastly, users can mod games to uncensor or restore content, including content that was censored from the start. For instance, games like Criminal Girls, or Gal Gun have all sorts of mods to uncensor or add content that would never have been allowed on the console (especially in the west). Many PC games have mods that are straight up adult in nature.
Modded consoles do have some ways to combat censorship. Hacked consoles can often run games with overlayed filesystems or you can replace the files directly. But with modded consoles, it doesn't matter whether you start with a digital or physical release. The resulting files end up the same. Good luck playing online though since modded consoles that are detected will usually end up banned.
Long story short, the problem isn't the delivery method, but the platform itself. As I showed in my comment, physical doesn't save you from censorship if the censorship is baked in from the start, or the console itself makes it troublesome to downgrade/stay downgraded. Whereas on PC, digital doesn't stop users from downgrading or moddiing out censorship, even if the censorship was built into the game from the start. Console users have some recourse if they mod their consoles, but not all consoles are easy or possible to hack at any given moment, and hacking them comes with their own downsides.

@@claudijatzandrapova3347 I see where you are coming from with Capcom, but you''re being hyperbolic. Nobody has had their games "bricked" for modding them. At most, when a game gets updated, you might need to update the mods as well.
This happens regardless of game or publisher. Case in point, pretty much any Bethesda title gets updated, and mods that rely on script extenders like SKSE will not work until said script extender is also updated to work with the new version.
As for Steam. They aren't perfect when it comes to censorship, but out of all of the stores, which ones allow adult games? Steam, GOG, Itch, and that's about it. All on PC. Nintendo doesn't allow adult games, and they have a track record of censoring games for the west, and in general. For instance, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Fatal Frame Maiden of Black water.
Sony is even worse. They flat out banned the sale of Omega Labyrinth Z, and the PS4 version of Omega Labyrinth Life had to be censored to be released on the platform at all (the Switch and PC releases are uncensored). There are a lot of games that require significant changes (such as rays of light to cover up bikinis, or more steam) to be allowed on Playstation.

Yes occasionally you see news of some game getting banned or rejected on Steam because there is at least one person who works for Valve that has a stick up their ass anytime an anime game is involved. Regardless, there are a lot of anime games, a lot of adult games, and most of those adult games being anime.
Steam isn't the only place to buy games from on PC anyway. I mentioned GOG, which sells mostly older games, but they do have a lot of adult games and more modern games. All of their games are DRM free. You buy the game, you download the installer and can install it on any PC you want. Itch tends to focus on indie games, many of these are adult or have fanservice. These are also DRM free. Publishers can also sell on sites like mangagamer, fakku, indiegala, dlsite, or wherever.
Steam itself is a platform on a platform. They sell games and offer features for PC gamers, but if you want to, you can buy games on other stores, and even add non-steam games to steam and use steam features on said games. Valve also put out the Steam Deck. The Steam Deck is an open piece of hardware.
You can install Windows on it if you want, but even in SteamOS, it's just linux and Valve has done nothing to stop you from installing whatever you want on it. Want to buy games from GOG or EGS and play it on the Deck? Knock yourself out. Want to play console games like PS1/PS2/ Switch, or whatever? Go ahead.
In one of the Steam Deck's ads they showed Yuzu was installed. They know about these things, they don't care because if they cared, they would not have made it so easy (or possible) to go to the desktop.

These people have cheated not only game developing, film making, inclusivity and diversity, but also themselves. They haven't grown, they haven't improved. They took a shortcut and achieved nothing. They experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained.
I'm really confused why there was such a "flip-flop" in perception in the last decade or so? We as a society were pushing against most forms of prejudice and were seemingly succeeding. The majority of people would call out racism, sexism, and homophobia without a second thought and those who were openly prejudice would be shunned for their outdated mentality.
I grew up being taught that people are people and its wrong to think otherwise. I was essentially raised "color-blind" and didn't actually think about the color of someone's skin when interacting with them and gender only applied when applying how to act in decency and respect toward someone thats was the same or opposite gender than yourself.
I didn't have to guard my words or act differently toward someone because I didn't fear my words or actions being taken out of context. Now is a much different story... I have to be aware of someone's race, sex/gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, etc. in order to interact with anyone, because if I don't take that into account, regardless of context I can say something wrong and be labled for it.
I can't be "color-blind" because not acknowledging someone's race can be considered racist apparently... I can't make "safe" assumptions on gender because I'll inevitably offend someone... and yet there are some people telling me that I can't be afforded the same decency because of my own race, gender, and sexual orientation and I can't call them out on it because they'll either hide or spin the narrative into making me the bad guy.
I'm a Straight Cis White Male and I don't feel like I am all that fortunate or "privileged" due to that fact unlike what many woke people will say. I hear so, sooo many people say you can't be racist against white people, that you can't be sexist against cis males, that you can't be prejudiced against straight people... That white male actors are boring, that inclusivity is inclusive when you include every member of the human race excluding white people and cis males, that disagreeing with someone who doesn't share one of the labels they put on themselves and you makes you prejudice against them...
This doesn't make sense on so many levels and hurts so much when anyone I talk to or the people I listened to for so long do think or agree in that making any sort of sense to them...
At least I understand that much of what I'm hearing and seeing is the very vocal minority, but its extremely demoralizing to hear this constantly again and again just to find out that they have enough influence to slowly shape our society... companies will listen to them, many companies are them or at least partially them, public perception is slowly being warped by them and many fear them because in addition to the influence they wield, they are also unhinged enough to ruin you for basically any reason or, in some extreme cases, use what they have to END you... more than likely just because you disagreed with a Twitter post of theirs.
