True. Raro got to 8 when 2 people abandoned Aitu and then had to compete with Ozzy winning everything and Yul having a super idol. Aitu was almost impenetrable come the merge when they were down 5-4.
John being so condescending about Galu being idiots while he is the one who starts the ball rolling on Galu turning on eachother is pretty funny 😂

@@DarrylJones-jc7wq Google "confirms" a claim by Parvati, during a custody fight, which if you want to also google you'll see that over 30% of domestic violence claims made during divorce/custody fights are fake, often used in an attempt at an "I win" button. The original comment flat out said John was a domestic abuser, not that he was only accused of it in the single most high instance time that fake claims are made. Parvati applied for a TRO which has a 98% granted rate because the person it's being granted against isn't there to defend themselves. No judge wants to be the one who denies a TRO and then has something bad happen. But conveniently the media ignored the part where John challenged the order, and after having his side heard the judge dropped the TRO immediately.

If Swan stays, the merge is so much different.

Both Russell S. and Rupert are guys that were absolute beasts in their first season, and horrible all other seasons.
@@ironmantim33 Rupert did make 2 deep runs after his first time though and he trucked Russell in Heroes vs Villains so there's that👍
I just love Erik expressions during his elimination when he sees the votes: He goes from smiling, to unsure, to confused, to disappointed, to cleary unhappy
Once it got past 3 votes that's when he realized his own team was voting against him. That was so dumb and cost them, I don't get why ol girl hated him so much she said all those mean things lol
Russel S is amazing! To me he is the ultimate survivor. He pushed himself to collapse for his tribe.
He also burned their clothing, dumped their water, lied about being in hurricane Katrina, let the chickens escape on purpose, and wreaked havoc around camp.

Jeff got so gentle with Russell so fast. That's how you know his medical situation was real (other than seeing it of course). Jeff hates quitters but he respects the hell out of anyone who works themselves to the bone like that.
You would think people learned their lesson after Gabon with what happens when you pick the same people to be exiled or sent away from the tribe multiple times. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY DON'T ALREADY FEEL CONNECTED! Like, they were straight up asking for Shambo to flip on them at that point. Which is also why it's so confusing that they voted Yasmine. Like, sure, laziness isn't great, but if that laziness comes with a vote for your side, I'm taking that over someone who's volatile and not very trustworthy.
it always got me, even while watching the original airing how bad they treated Shambo. Yes I can definitely see how annoying she probably was BUT that's part of the game; pretending you like those people to get farther in the game. keeping her close was so easy but Galu was too concerned with doing yoga than playing the game.
In terms of challange strenght, Galu is one of the best tribes and foa Foa is one fo the worst

-convincing Galu to flip on Eric and Russell waste his idol to put a target on his back
-Russell using idol to blindside Kelly
-Shambo joining Foa Foa side
-John not wanting to go rocks
And the rest is a story...
I think voting out Yasmin instead of Shambo at their only tribal was the beginning.

It's crazy how such a challenge dominant tribe, absolutely crumbles when the one wise person is evaced and a manipulator like Hantz shows up. If Swan stays Galu gets all final 3 spots, likely with Swan or Brett winning I feel. Even without Russel, Galu should have knocked Foa Foa down to 2 or 1 members before turning on their own. They all showed they had no plan for future votes and only focused on the current day.
Also, Erik getting clotheslined chasing the chicken will never not be hilarious.

John is just so incredibly condescending in the way he speaks. You can't help notice how he looks down on everyone there. Hopefully it was just a tv character.
i really don't like Survivor Samoa because it's SO heavy on Russell Hantz; watching it like this is so much better than the actual season
I did some videos on Swan, Laura, and Shambo as well that is mostly focused on Galu that I recommend if you want more non-Russell Hantz stuff.
Hantz was the star - don't hate the player, hate the ratings he was getting.
This season just makes me mad, especially when Brett was so close to taking down the Foa Foa’s but just barely failed

WOW this is crazy perfect timing, I literally just finished watching Samoa for the first time TODAY and I was baffled by the complete dissolving of Galu. There couldn't be a better way to end the season than this video.

Pretty funny in hindsight that if CGI Brett had won final immunity we would've got a winner that was more invisible than Natalie White. 😂

It all started with the Yazmín vote. The final blow came when they didn't listen to Monica and they put all their votes on Russell. After that, the flipping began 🤷🏻♂️

I have been waiting a while for this video and it didn’t disappoint. There’s honestly never been a bigger fall from grace for a tribe in Survivor than that of Galu and seeing all the little intricacies of what lead to their downfall was really fascinating to watch. Excellent work, Once Upon an Island.
The Galu tribe is such an entertaining mess we never got to see. Just look at those Ponderosa clips.

I forgot Russell Swann leaving. I always remember the 8-4 collapse. John flip made no senses as he giving them the game. Sometime you take it to lady luck. Funny that Brett had a chance to still win at for his tribe if he ran the table.

This was the season producers figured out they can just slip idols/advantages to their chosen players without any prior planning, clues, pretense etc. Major turning point. It happens every episode now.

It is still crazy how CGI Brett is one of the closest non winners in survivor history and got the CGI edit always has me wondering how the season would have been edited if Brett won that challenge instead
Brett lost that challenge TWICE. Jeff made them compete twice, because Russell dropped it before Jeff could scream "RUSSELL WINS IMMUNITY." I swear Jeff is like a child sometimes.

this video just goes to show what an interesting season samoa could have been if they had just eased up on the hantz of it all. they had an interesting cast that was largely wasted on The Russell Show

Honestly, my favorite thing with this season was both Russell's. One I was sad that he left on such a terrible reason...the other was just a fun villain and really...really good luck with finding those idols.

14:24 This moment makes Galu out to be the Greek Gods and Hantz to be Kratos. Like the Greek Gods, Galu's arrogance and self-assurance in their abilities cause them to underestimate and even demean Kratos/Hantz. Instead of ganging up and taking him out they just let Kratos/Hantz grow more powerful with each new boon. Their dismissal just gives Kratos/Hantz the necessary drive to pick them off one, by one, by one. Kratos/Hantz was never in any real, the Gods/Galu just never realized the danger they were in.

I still feel that if Galu went to one more tribal pre-merge and voted out Shambo... Russell might never even have even been a returning player and we probably are looking at a Dave, Monica or Brett win.
I think Russell would’ve probably returned no matter what because he was such a huge character in Samoa ala Rupert in Pearl Islands

@addi543 A big thing that occurs to me is that Russell still plays idols at Final 12 and 11. Plus he still finds a third at Final 10.
Obviously he can't find idols EVERY time. But it would most likely keep him around for a longer time which is critical cause he's a huge character.

This is like my tribe in a survivor ORG rn! Voted 3 people out already and other tribe have voted out none!
This season was good. I like when the underdogs turn the table. Russell should have won. His strategy and unpresidential finding of idols with no clues. Iv watched this season a few times. Laura just comes off as bitter and petty. She was mad Russell didn’t roll over and just get voted out. I saw somewhere russell talking about how Laura and Monica just dissuaded everyone not to let him win. No respect to the game. They made mistakes, him and his people capitalized
Also, that comment about JV Survivor is so funny to me. Like, maybe it is, but when you have an 8-4 lead and you know one of them has an idol and has been lying to all of you, JUST GO FOR THE PAGONG. Why overcomplicate things when there are other variables still in the game? Occam's Razer: the simplest solution is often the best.
Shambo was like the female Coach in how memorable she made the season with her personal vendettas😂.

When this originally happened I guessed correctly to every single time they were going to the votes to vote someone off except 1 but that person got voted off at the next challenge anyway so it was a near perfect prediction of the game and my dad and step mom that I watched it with got furious at me because hell I would state who was out half way threw the episode. My dad and step mom thought I had insider knowledge and were trying to figure out where I was getting my information from. Its a game not a survival experiment and if you know games you can predict simple logic.
If you dont talk to your pets like people then you dont deserve that pet . Just saying

Shambo didnt lose the chicken. The production opened the cage so the chickens would escape. Also, farm chickens cannot fly so it is understandable how she could not know that wild chickens can.

I have a soft spot for sergeant Shambo. She is a familiar figure to me.
You kinda gotta be that socially unaware to make it as a female presenting person in male dominated fields. You can’t ever get into your own head or let yourself be put down- and gender disparity will open the floodgates to that kinda stuff.
Being ”unaware” ”aggressive” ”awkward” etc might cost you socially, but it’ll rarely hinder you careerwise. A LOT of successful gen x women around me are veeery similar. It’s a bit funny, a bit sad. Thankfully, we’re still moving forward.
This is of course just my personal opinion and perspective.

When one tribe is too big at merge, they almost always split. Rarely can 8 people stay together as a cohesive unit/alliance on Survivor. It’s better to be a super underdog like 4 to 8 at merge than a smaller underdog like 3 tribe merge of 3-4-5, etc.

This season still pisses me off, and does show the one thing that is broken in the game.. Hantz was indeed robbed, that was his season.... and people say how he sucked at diplomacy... this run he really didnt he was fantastic... was just the jury that got him.. they gave the win to Natalie because they were bitter that they got played so hard and Russell was unapologetic..
Russel not winning this season is still a tragedy

The joke is that he gets so little screen time during the show that it is almost as if he had never been in the game on the first place but added later with CGI during the edition process so that's why he has almost zero dialogues or interaction with the other cast members.
