    That's why we've teamed with Quality Marine-one of the industry's leading fish and coral wholesalers-for a fun new video series featuring many of the interesting animals you can keep inside a home aquarium.

    I have kept a Sargassum Trigger in a fully stocked reef tank for the past year. While I do not have SPS corals in my tank, I do have a very large Squamosa clam and two other blue Maxima clams in the tank. This fish has been perfectly behaved and has harmed nothing. He is an absolute character and his behaviors remind me of a dog for lack of better comparison. He will eat out of your hand, he is very inquisitive and never bothers any other fish. I have numerous tangs in this 120 gallon reef tank plus two clown fish, a matted file fish and a fairy wrasse. I enjoy this fish more than any other.

    My blue throat is a model citizen in my mixed reef, but my purple tangs do pick on him time to time

    One of the best fish I had was a blue throat trigger in my ex 500 gallon reef. Never once upset other fish or corals - soft or sps. I would feed him sheets of seaweed, amongst other things. Was a joy to watch him fly around the tank. The recommendation of 150 gallons min is on the small side. I thought my own tank was a bit too small for him and it stretched across one side of the living room wall.

    Would the cross hatch triggers work with Epaulette sharks and a few small rays?

      Clown Triggers can be real bullies and love to eat invertebrates so proceed with caution in an established tank.

    Hey Robert!
    I have fish and live rock only aquarium. this tank is 8-9months old. about a month ago I purchased the blue thorat triggerfish and it seems to be doing fine. I was feeding with shrimp. since yesterday I noticed that my trigger is not eating and it is just attach to rocks. I have two damsel and gobby fish in the aquarium as well. I checked my water parameter with two type of test kit and it seems to be in very good condition. Can you please tell me what could it be the problem, and how Can I prevent this fish. Thank you.

      It is difficult to diagnose without observing the fish. I would suggest you start with ensuring the fish has plenty of high-quality food offerings multiple times per day. If water chemistry appears to be on point, then it may be an illness or some other form of stress causing a problem. Stress is the number #1 contributor to declining fish health so be sure to eliminate all possible sources of stress for the fish.

    Remember many many years back my experience with an undulated trigger....Geez...took over the whole tank and no fish could go into the rock anywhere. Luckily found a safe home for it. Beautiful fish though. Good video!

      Nothing specific but probably uncommon fishes for the 50-100g range tanks to reach the majority that don't necessary have a 150g reef tank 👍🏻

I am happy you have found them as helpful as I originally planned. My plan is to get at least 2-3 produced before the end of the year and please feel free to share some fish you would like to know more about!

      Thanks for the response Robert. I would love to know more about the Harlequin Tusk, Rays for tanks (blue dot, Cortez, etc), Bicolor parrot, perhaps big angels (Queen, emporer, French, etc).

    Can you keep more than one trigger at a time in a 180 gallon reef?

    • @BulkReefSupply
      @BulkReefSupply  7 років тому

      I would not recommend keeping different species in the same tank as this most likely would result in aggression with the final outcome of the more aggressive fish ruling the tank. Having said that, it is not uncommon to see a Male/Female pair of these reef safe Triggerfish in the same tank.

      @voice4mybluepit622 7 років тому

      Jake Newman Yes you can have triggers exspesily in a 180g tank.I had a 100g tank with two clown triggers,blueline,undulated,huma and miniotis grouper and a domino damsel that grew up big with triggers.Yes you have to be careful interdusing any new fish.I woud just rearange my rocks so nobody had a teratory, and it uaually would work if they got past my damsel,lol.The ones you need to keep a eye on is the undulaed and the blueline...

    Hi, I am 12 almost 13. And i just got my first saltwater 125 gallon tank. It is used but cam with lots or extra equipment. I just wanted to ask if u could help me pick out what fish I should put in it. These r some of what I would like.
    Tang
    1.Blue
    2.yellow
    3. Kole
    4. Sailfin
    Then maybe some chromis, clownfish, and foxface, last possible a cobberband

    • @christopherflemming5404
      @christopherflemming5404 7 років тому

      Also i need help with the clean up crew

    • @BulkReefSupply
      @BulkReefSupply  7 років тому +1

      Thanks for watching and congrats on the new tank, you have some fun times ahead of you. I would recommend that you start with no more than one species of tang in your 125G tank. This will give you the best chance of success. The Kole Tangs are one of my favorties!
      Keeping a pair of Clownfish is sort of a rite of passage in this hobby and are highly recommended. Chromis are great schooling fish and Foxface have a wonderful personality. My only advice here is to practice patience and stock your tank slowly; never add too many fish at one time.
      Here is an awesome article all about Clean Up Crew critters.
