  • On today's Monster Hobbies Model Car Garage we will be looking at the Coca-Cola Edition of the 1929 Model A Ford Station Wagon and Pickup 4-in-1 Model Kit by AMT.
The Ford Model A was the Ford Motor Company's second market success, after its predecessor, the Model T. First produced on October 20, 1927, but not introduced until December 2nd 1927, it replaced the venerable Model T, which had been produced for 18 years. This new Model A was designated a 1928 model and was available in four standard colors.
By February 4, 1929, one million Model As had been sold, and by July 24, two million. The range of body styles ran from the Tudor at US$500 (in grey, green, or black) to the town car with a dual cowl at US$1,200. In March 1930, Model A sales hit three million, and there were nine body styles available.
Two of these styles were the Station Wagon and Pickup which are the subjects of this 1929 Model A Ford 4-in-1 Model Kit by AMT.
One of the rare body styles for the Model A was the station wagon, less than 10% of the five million A's made were of this type. Featuring a hard rock maple body and side curtains instead of steel and glass, the '29 "Woodie" is a rare collector's item indeed. The interior was strictly functional, the car was intended to carry passengers and luggage from train station to their destination, usually someone's home or country town house. The Murray-built body featured a large tail gate, useful for loading large trunks and suitcases. Nicely proportioned, the Model A "Woodie" makes a sharp street and surf rod as well as a collectors showpiece.
The more popular Model A Pickup came both as a roadster and close topped vehicle. Our hardy grandparents were more use to the great outdoors hence the drop top pickup. Used on the farm then as now, the ever popular pickup was found from border to border and coast to coast fulfilling all sorts of duties. As sporty looking as it was (and is) useful, many a roadster pickup became a hot rod of the roaring twenties as well as a street rod of today. Of course a nicely restored roadster pickup will win a ribbon or two at any collectors meet and gladden the heart of the avid restorer.
Model A production ended in March 1932, after 4,858,644 had been made in all body styles. Its successor was the Model B, which featured an updated inline four-cylinder engine, as well as the Model 18, which introduced Ford's new flathead (sidevalve) V8 engine.
This AMT 1929 Model A Ford 4-in-1 model car can be built as the pickup truck in either a stock or hot rod or as the rare woodie station wagon in stock or as a hot rod. That's why it's called a 1929 Model A Ford 4-in-1 Model Kit - 4 building options in total! It even comes with a 1970's chrome plated "Banana Bike" as an optional model car garage accessory. (This was originally included in "The Wild Ones" Woodie kit along with a surfer figure and 2 surf boards)
This model is a re-release of the vintage MPC model car kits and originally came out in 1962 at the height of model car kits.
Round2 has added a few new parts into this kit for converting it from a 4-door Woodie to a 2-door Woodie. These include flat plastic panels to act as window filler pieces for the sides and rear windows. In order to convert the model into the 2-door, you will need to cut away some of the wooden pillars in the body frame with a hobby saw and fill in the 4-door cracks.
Also included in this kit are 4 Coca-Cola bottle crates molded in light transparent green plastic and a full Coca-Cola decal sheet with multiple logo and script options.

Glad you liked it! - I didn't think it would take me as long as it did though. Usually my videos are around 35 minutes unless I am building something.

I have the 4-1 '29 Woody/pickip w/bicycle kit on the way but it's not the CocaCola version. I'm pretty sure it's basically the same kit, though. I was happy to see what to expect. I gave all my built & partially built models to my nephew some years back. Most needed repair from moving and needed a good cleaning but he made good use of them and I'm sure he had fun. He built some nice models.

Sounds like fun! Yes, the non-Coca-Cola version is the same kit, minus the plastic card inserts and the Coca-Cola decals. So if you want to build it as a panel van, look for some Evergreen Sheet Styrene and then cut it to size.

I'm still watching it,Trevor and onto my second cup of tea👍😀☕and I'm up to Flash, (ahh😀)love it👍. I don't know it was by MPC originally. I think it's a great kit and with so much in the box, with all the options ,I'm not surprised it's a long vid. I hate skimming vids so I always watch every minute👍and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. There's a channel that's only about model A Fords and has loads of great footage. If you like model A's as much as I do,check my channel list to find it,if you haven't seen one of their vids already👍😎
