Just to let you know. That before the storm. The county were removing all the pine trees on the center island. They were in the middle of going to reduce the parking area . ( paving and adding paid parking. ) I work on the island for 43 years.. so sad to see . Thanks for the video

I'm sorry to be the one to break the news. The memories stretch across the world and many generations. I, myself have photos of a loved one who grew up there, who is no longer with us, sitting under some of those trees. It's tough, but people who love the island are the reason she's recovering!
Nina needs to read the Doc Ford books written by Randy Wayne White the world famous Florida,and Cuba(adopted) author who writes and speaks volumes about Sanibel, and surrounding cays,islands,keys,Kaloosas,shell mounds,as well as Tomlinson,etc... He spits as much facts,history, and known truths as anyone in Flo Rida history ever has... Well worth the read,and time.. Ask your fave libberian for one of his books... 😉
Somehow it seems that the first nations understood the fickled nuances of nature. And rarely tried to build permanent structures. Here we are, still trying to figure out how shape nature to match our desires. And almost annually nature gives a little shake and Like Sisyphus here we go, again...
