One way to strengthen wire in a brass tube joints is to first drill 2 or 3 holes along the length of the tubing. Use whatever size dill that fits on your tubing. Assemble your wire in the tube & use each hole as a soldering point for flux & solder. Then do your normal brass tube/wire exposed solder joints as you've always done them. Those spot soldering holes will add quite a bit of strength. Instead of holes, you can also use Dremel cuts made part way through, but across the tubing & solder each one made. You had great results at Harry's.

Congrats Marty, for your genius built floating wheelbase chassis. 😅👍. Sorry, but that was really funny.
I use a brazing station and solder with a high silver content and a good flux. The best results comes with the perfect temperature for the solder that is shown by the flux if you know what i mean.
I am a banker and have to teach myself everything technical, but thats the fun aspekt.

You may be on to something Marty. A floating, adjustable wheelbase setup. 😎 Great job on the Showdown race. Im starting my 3rd build this coming week, 1/32 kit, a 1982 Camaro Z28. Seriously considering sending in a car for the January Nascar showdown. We will see. Great job Marty. Later! 🫡

You should send a car! It is a lot of fun to participate. Very satisfying to see your car get raced.

There's a group in the Pacific Northwest (mostly OR & WA) that runs several classes of hard body race cars with adjustable wire & brass chassis on a variety of home tracks. They have used this simple chassis they call their "economical chassis" for about 20 years or more.

The stretched wheelbase is kind of funny. I think the second place was well deserved though. The flexing motor pod chassis did it, good job.

I think it worked pretty good. It was a crap shoot 😂 you just never know what might work and what doesn’t.

@@twolinesslotcars One day I'd love to chat regular sized cars with you. I am a huge fan of heavy sport sedans that have no business being as fast as they are. Used to have a methanol SHO, and am currently in a stage 3 Audi S6.

Congrats Marty! Your cars performed great. I bet they are fun drivers. I hope to have a car in their next race. Going to learn from Shotgun Dave's modified Chevelle. My big challenge will be my lack of soldering skills also. Plan to get a kit from Slot It to help with my first build.

We ran a LOT of cars that day. There were quite a few hard crashes. And if memory serves me right, yours took a pretty hard hit. And in the heat of battle it could have gotten damaged. At any rate, it performed very well!

4th place pretty good. that's funny it's stretched! LOL!!! that's weird it worked good in the inner lane I always thought the cars with a shorter WB worked better in the sharper turns.
