- Nap from NP Labs sent me his latest prototype of a tire truer/cleaner that he is hoping to bring to market. It works with 1/43, 1/32 and 1/24/1/25 scale slot cars. This is a basic overview and some feedback for Nap to consider.
It is not a tire truer in the sense of removing wheels and tire form your car and trueing them. It is really for light trueing/scuffing and cleaning tires.
Comiing to the market at under $50, it wiill meet the needs of the home racer.

This truer uses standard 5" self-adhesive backed sanding discs. You can cut them in half for dual grit readiness. The consumables costs are very low. The included squeeze bottle is provided to place droplets of water or isopropyl alcohol on the cloth and sandpaper. It acts as a lubricant that significantly reduces the strain on the motor and gears. It also helps keep any tire dust from dispersing. And of course it enhances cleaning and truing.

Hi Marty, thanks for sharing. The disadvantage of these type of tire truers is from my perspektive, that they put to much strain on the gears of the transmission as a tire truer. The advantage of that tire truer is, that you can also clean the tires easily. Nice weekend!

Hi. To solve the strain issue, you just put some water or isopropyl alcohol droplets, right on the sandpaper where the tires touch. It acts as a lubricant, significantly reducing the work required by the motor and gears.

Gene, it is not for everyone.. but it does fit the need of the home racer who just wants to scuff the tires to improve performance. The tire cleaning is great as well.

Very cool slot car gadget. Priced well enough that a lot of us will buy one just to support support a fellow Slot Brother and it will allow others to an very useful slot car tool that would normally be out of budget. Very Cool! Thank you Marty for doing the Saturday morning review.
Handy tool if you don’t want to invest in a more advanced truer. How far down the tuning hole are you willing to go? $40 is not that far.

That's a nice truer.I would buy one, But I need one for 1/24 scale cars. Make it to work for both scales. Where you don't have to buy two of them.

That's cool, don't know about sanding tires down on the track though making the rubber get all over your track? I would put it on a powered track section on a table... I do like the tire cleaner if set up like I just spoke of it would be good for racers to quickly clean there tires. Thanks for showing this.
Nothing a little hand vac can't clean if its ever an issue. 😉
I agree, I have a track piece set up for a tire cleaner, that is what I placed it on. Great thought BS.. I power my cleaning station with a 9volt battery..
If you add droplets of water or isopropyl alcohol using the included squeeze bottle, the rubber remains on the sanding disc. You can also place one of the included cloths behind the truer.

Question.. How does he stop 1/32 and smaller from skewing from one side to the other, which can happen from time to time (though that would need to be corrected itself)
The angle of the sanding pad seems to prevent the car from moving side to side.

90% if you can find it.
Water works well too. The instructions describe this. The water or any isopropyl alcohol, act like a lubricant to reduce motor and gear strain, enhance cleaning and truing and keep the rubber dust from landing on the track.
