If you're reading this, your interview is probably tomorrow morning so here's another tip: Watch several of this guy's videos at 1.5x speed. It's still easy to understand and you can cram in even more videos before the interview.
1. start w confidence, 1st 30seconds, smile & strong handshake 2. sit up right, keep eye contact 3. if they ask for drink, ask for water, it ll give ur hands smth to do & it gives u thinking time 4. ur answers should reflect y u can help the new company, positive spin 5. story w examples that come to life 6. USP = Unique Selling Point 7. learn key phrases, but not super memorised 8. if not in (near)native language, use nuance ("rather" than "a bit") if interviewer is not language teacher, don t worry about grammar bc u ve been invited to the interview, while they know u re not a native
As an employability trainer for a training organisation, these tips are useful, but I'd add: don't answer the questions like you've learned the answers. Show a bit of personality and try to turn what might feel like an interrogation (hint: interviews aren't an interrogation, that's nerves playing tricks) in to a slightly more relaxed chat about you and the company you're applying for. You're interviewer wants to know that you're the type of person who gets along with people and will gel with a team...
This video is excellent! watched it before my interview on Tuesday night before my interview on Wednesday morning.... 1st interview in 7 years.... And I got offered the job yesterday!!!!🙂 Yaaaaaayyyyy! 🙂 I like your style..... Excellent stuff!!!
Thank you , just got the email from the company , i got the job . i listened to this guy at the last minute , followed all the tips, Boom !! went great . excellent tips . They already know about your resume , they want to know if you will be a good match for the team , and how you mingle , interact , present yourself, Sell yourself .
Got an interview in a few hours, thanks for the tips! update: I passed both the semifinalist, then a few weeks later, the finalist interview - got the job :)
Jenna Hancock I’ve passed through the semi-finalist phase of the interview process into the finalist phase! Woohoo! This video really is magic. I have my final interview this Saturday.
Woah!! I got the job after practicing all the things that you mentioned! Usually they ask for a test before hiring someone but they told me that they were confident about my professionalism after talking with me. They even took the time to tell me that they were really impressed by all of my answers. Thank you very very very much, specially for all the language hacks. English is not my native language, so I was nervous for that. Thank you and I wish you the best in everything !
One tip I would say to all who had an interview, SEND A THANK YOU EMAIL, if you have the hiring manager email of course (he could send you an email confirming the interview before it happened), don’t dig searching for the email if you don’t have it, you could send a voicemail to. I had my job interview on tuesday, I send my thank you email (not a template, just get ideas but never use one) on thursday about 10 am, and I got a call about 12 pm from the hiring manager offering me an employment offer, I didn’t hesitate and I accepted it :)! I will start my job on Monday as a C# developer! Foreign english speaker writing here (I’m sure I did some speaking errors in my interview btw).
I watched this video yesterday half an hour prior to my interview. Today I was offered the job!!! I had no previous experience, and the interviewers knew that too, but I wasn’t stiff at all, I followed the tips of this video, I kept in my mind tip # 6 and they were listening attentively to me! I also liked tip #8 minute 7:35 I was relaxed, calm, collected and pleasant. I Emphasized my “ friendliness” . The employers where happy and I was told today that I interviewed really well. Thank you!
I am a hiring manager at a pediatric hospital in a very specialized field, Flow Cytometry. I appreciated your tips and found them to be good solid advice. I have interviewed many candidates over the last couple of years and have been surprised at some of the basics that get overlooked. I always offer water and it is more frequently declined. The fidgeting and negative talk are both really distracting. Your advice about selling oneself is important. I think candidates forget that we are often interviewing multiple candidates who not only have the same education, but have the same number of years of experience. It becomes even more critical to tells us why should we hire you, what do you bring to the table that sets you apart from the other candidates. It doesn’t always have to be a specific accomplishment either, it could be something as simple as a “can do attitude “ and the willingness to try something different that might set you apart from another candidate. The suggestion to connect on a personal level, could be the thing that gets your name remembered in the candidate review process.
So tomorrow i’ll do the interview, thanks for the advice and i hope it can help me to get my dream job. (I’ll update soon) (wish me luck) 🙏🥰 Update: FINALLY I GOT MY DREAM JOB!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Just fyi i’ll start to work in the next week 😍😍😍😍😍
You were amazing in motivating me for my next interview here in London. I am a non-native speaker and I have been living here for only 3 years. Your tips, in particular the one for non-native speakers like were outstanding. You helped a "great deal" and "considerably" motivated me, which made me a subscriber of your channel. Thanks...
my most extraordinary interview was when I was trying myself for the position of an English teacher. Instead of starting a regular conversation with the regular question, they just gave me a book and said, "Open a random page and read and act out what you are reading". Acting skills and ability to engage was the most important to them. But today I am watching this video to prepare for another interview and I think the video has just put me in the right mindset! Thank you for this amazing video!
''Give a strong handshake. Ok but not so strong that you crush your interviews hand and they have to get rushed off to the hospital for an x-ray for a suspected cracked wrist'' :D :D You made my day :D
I always felt self conscious about English being my second language and having an accent. Your point about it doesn't matter so long as you're clear and concise makes me more relaxed. You're right. They do know English is not my first language yet they chose to interview me regardless so I should work on the other points.
Last year, I'd got a job because of your videos! I'm really thankful for this. This year now, because of the effect caused by the pandamic, and as I am the newest member and the only contractor in the team, I need to leave the company and find a new job. 😣 I feel confident watching your videos for any job interviews 😊 please wish me luck.
I thoroughly enjoyed this! My son will be getting an internship soon and I am sending this to him as soon as possible. Thank you, this was entertaining, educational, and enlightning.
I'm getting ready for a job interview coming up soon and found this and wanted to say, I love the tips. They were easy to follow and I love the fact you included the ones learning English in the video as well. Keep up the amazing work.
The bonus tip is a big help to me. Interviews are often seen as a situation in which one person is in command and the other is at their mercy, but if the interviewee relaxes and sees it as a chance to get to know someone, then it can be an enjoyable conversation.
@@moisesf.7017 They told me to say something about me. I did hold my past short but informative enough that they had an idea what I did before. Then they asked how I start my workday. If I start work with coffee or what I do when I come to work. I told them that I start mostly 10 minutes early preparing for work that I have everything ready. (no coffee, I don't drink coffee in the morning) Then they asked the typical question where do I see myself in 10 years of now. I told them "Heavily invested in the stock market" We had a laugh and they asked if I have stocks from the company. I answered with a not yet, explaining that It yet is too high. 🤣 We laughed again and they said that one day it will go down. To what I responded with, "most probably when you bought the other company" They where surprised and we talked a bit about my past work and how I came to investing in the stock market. Then they explained the work I will have in the company and asked if that sounds interesting to me. I agreed and then they asked what my salary exception is. I did what I shouldn't and answered with a number. They agreed though and said that's what they where thinking about aswell. (I somehow don't belive that, but I think that can be negotiated after a year or so). Then it already was done, they had a smile and we talked on the way to the door. They said they will tell me the result in round about one week, which they did and they asked when I can start. ;) Long story but I really liked that interview and one really important part is that you really should enjoy the interview. It is amazing. First time I went in an interview with a good feeling from the start til the end.
Thanks for the tips. I watched a lot of your videos last night about interviews. Today I went for an interview. I felt so confident, nailed the interview. An hour later they called and told me they are checking my references. 2 hours later I got a job offer and topped up my asking salary! Thanks for all you do to help people. And Yes, English is not my first language.
Saw "tell me about yourself" video yesterday and done the round 1 phone call interview. Check on this one today while waiting for the result. I was nervous in the last one and realize I need more practices to make it better. Hope for a good result.
Hi . This video really helped me .i felt confident when I was in the interview. I repeated some of your frases. Pd. My first language is not English. And this company hired me. !!! Thank you so much!!
I've got an interview coming up for my dream job. I'm feeling nervous/excited! I've been cramming these helpful videos hoping to ease my nerves and have a more relaxed conversation. Wish me luck!
Spot on video ! Thank you so much ! One important tip will be for the candidates to properly do the research about the company existence, total assets under management, total employees etc. Most of the interviewer asks this simple question : what you know about our company? I pass so many interviews just because I make the effort to do my research:)
Hi!!! I'm María José from Pret a Manger, in London, It's been a big pleasure to meet you today in my shop. I hardly could believe you were there, as one of my customers, the creator of one of my favourites internet English webpages!!! !!! I'm very pleased to have met you today and I'd just like to repeat here what I told you today in my job: I recently found your webpage, I subscribed immediately and rated among my favourites. I would like to thank you for your extraordinary job to help English students. Your videos lessons are so clear, very well explained and your topics so useful and interesting and the didactic and the way you teach is superb, along with your fantastic pronunciation. I'll be eternally grateful to people like you that make my English learning path much more interesting, easy and entertaining. Thank very much for your time and dedication, please keep doing all this fantastic job.

Cyril F Hmm, for some reason it didn't sound like this on my phone?! I could hear him perfectly! Weird! 😕 Guess I got lucky, or it has been fixed?! Lol
Thanks for the wonderful tip. Last week, I had my interview scheduled with Nestle based in Milan, Italy for the position of "Technology Expert - Personal Productivity, Discovery, & Insight", however, I felt they asked more of a personal development generic type of question rather than my skill set and experience which was completely matching with their requirement. Question asked were 1) How you managing to keep up with latest technology 2) Over the last 12 months have you achieved anything significant 3) What are your goals in life. When they asked me about me If I had anything to ask I used one of your key points "Of all my skill which one will be most required for this job role" I was informed we are expecting who can handle entire end to end process putting risk in mind , how to mitigate risk etc although it wasn't mentioned or required for this role as it is more of a Project Manger or Tech lead role. Eventually, I received automated mail from HR that they will not be pursuing with my application although I answered with my best possible way I could.
7% verbal, about 38% para-verbal (intonation and ton), and almost 55% for the rest (non-verbal), so yes that's extremely important. Thank you for the tips and advice, I fell more ready and confident about succeeding my future interviews!
I am so happy to today your video is great help for i have an interview Tomorrow Morning with one of the top 100 fortune company . English is my second language i was so worried about it. after watching your video i got do much confidence . i got required experience qualifications.you are great and keeps the good work. Tampa. florida
In case I need to pass an interview, it should be fairly enough to be the mere my own self. The thing is I prefer to be self-employed. I have an interesting storyline to share. Not dull. Lively. Quick learner , I almost forgot to mention. I am never worried about my language .wholeheartedly. English is my 1st language by choice. No problem.
I love your "key expressions." They certainly enhace the presentation skills and give confidence to the interviewee. And it's not just for foreigners, everyone can benefit from using that approach. Brilliant!
"an interview is decided in the first 30 seconds" me: didn't hear their name on the phone so has to go in in about 40 minutes and say I don't know who I'm talking to
I interviewed for a job at a vacuum cleaner factory once. I told the interviewer after we were finished that their vacuums really suck and the guy was so impressed, he hired me right then and there.
Hi Gideon, I found your channel some days ago, by far the best of the English learning ones I have tried. I carefully watched all videos since then. This was my last one. So, a request: could you make more of them about tip #9, English idioms? Learning to use wholeheartedly and that kind of words is pretty (not very ;-) ) useful. Cheers.
Oh I really like it😉I'ved experience an interview of call center agent and it makes me surprised because I'm only a high school grad and the person that's interviewed me said you pass😊. Now I know why I'ved passed
Gideon, these are some of the best ever you tube tutorials I have ever seen on any topic. You will help a lot (sorry...a CONSIDRABLE!) amount of interviewees with these. Brilliant!
I really enjoy your video, it’s good to know not to worry about grammar, this is my most fear when having interview now I realize I should rather enjoy the conversation instead of worrying about my grammar
8:52 "...if you are not confident about your English level if English is not your first language here is a hack. Here are some phrases you can use to enrich your English expression." I can't even pronounce some of these words. :) I don't think I've ever heard "WHOLEHEARTEDLY" from anyone.
If you're reading this, your interview is probably tomorrow morning so here's another tip: Watch several of this guy's videos at 1.5x speed. It's still easy to understand and you can cram in even more videos before the interview.

Eventually, I received automated mail from HR that they will not be pursuing with my application although I answered with my best possible way I could.
loved your polite voice, I will definitely use the lowering tone, and yes, when can I start???????????
Oh my God! I followed the tips and got my dream job! Thanks so much
7% verbal, about 38% para-verbal (intonation and ton), and almost 55% for the rest (non-verbal), so yes that's extremely important.

No problem.
That was an amazing lesson! Made me feel much more confident. Thank you! You're a star!
I love your "key expressions." They certainly enhace the presentation skills and give confidence to the interviewee. And it's not just for foreigners, everyone can benefit from using that approach. Brilliant!

Hi Gideon,
I found your channel some days ago, by far the best of the English learning ones I have tried.
I carefully watched all videos since then.
This was my last one.
So, a request: could you make more of them about tip #9, English idioms?
Learning to use wholeheartedly and that kind of words is pretty (not very ;-) ) useful.
Cheers.
Thanks, I'm flattered by your kind words. I've noted your request. I'll see what I can do. Cheers!
Oops, you reply on the Christmas weekend: mind the karoshi! ;-)
lol. Yes, but making videos is my hobby not my job so I think it's ok.
Oh I really like it😉I'ved experience an interview of call center agent and it makes me surprised because I'm only a high school grad and the person that's interviewed me said you pass😊.
Now I know why I'ved passed
I have subscribed your channel because I fell in love with your brilliant (as it seems to me) diction.
My diction is far from perfect but thank you.
Gideon, these are some of the best ever you tube tutorials I have ever seen on any topic. You will help a lot (sorry...a CONSIDRABLE!) amount of interviewees with these. Brilliant!
One of the best ever comments. Many thanks

Second time watching this video over the past 3 years 😅
I really enjoy your video, it’s good to know not to worry about grammar, this is my most fear when having interview now I realize I should rather enjoy the conversation instead of worrying about my grammar
8:52 "...if you are not confident about your English level if English is not your first language here is a hack.
Here are some phrases you can use to enrich your English expression."
I can't even pronounce some of these words. :) I don't think I've ever heard "WHOLEHEARTEDLY" from anyone.
Thank you for those tips. English is not my first languaje but as you mentioned I try to be clearly in my answers. I hope to get that job soon
