Alliance is an RV company that has come in to really EARN a strong following from their dedicated customer-driven designs and support structure. So I wanted to see and learn more about what makes Alliance RVs a little different. Their team welcomed me down to their factory facilities and I quickly discovered they are offering more than just "lip service" when it comes to the committment they make to their customer AND their factory team!

I did finally get the 385fl and 1 of the main reasons I got it was because of the composite floors. I had to make a few minor repairs after first trip. Minor stuff. But I have to say how MASSIVELY DISAPPOINTED I was to find out my floors are OSB PLYWOOD and my unit was made 3/2023. When I loaded the rear slid tray all of the way to small screws popped out flipping the tray up. (And by no means was it anywhere near being overloaded) overall I like the 385fl but I'm very disappointed in it also

Go see the Brinkley tour, they PDI at every station and even test for leaks. They also shake test the entire rig to ensure nothing is coming loose. You'll notice no trim on the ceiling because of how tight the rig is built. I do like Alliance though, better than most of the other top brands.

Did you end up buying one? Every Alliance RV we have seen on a dealer lot was the biggest pile of crap. I've neve seen a brand so poorly built. They can't even drag them from the factory to the dealer lots without everything falling apart.

Josh, I'd like to add my input to the customer experience and service side of Alliance RV. I think I wrote last year in a comment that a friend of ours has an Alliance toy hauler and had exactly the same story about the high quality of after sales. It wasn't anything outrageous but there were TWO people from Alliance (one a tech and one from the Customer Service side) who spent as much time at the campground with them to resolve the issues. Outstanding job from them.

I appreciate the detailed factory tour. We just moved from a 2021 Paradigm 372RK to a 2023 Paradigm 382RK. We were very happy with the 2021, but the new one is even better! They started with a great product and have continued to make it better. Customer support direct from the manufacturer has been exceptionally good as well, which seems rare in the industry.

Awesome video and shows some great things Alliance is doing compared to some of the competitors but I did notice a few things:
    - The welding around the middle leaf spring hanger looked a little rough
    - Noticed some trash thrown in the underbelly
    - The bushings in the springs of the pre-built axles appear to be plastic instead of brass
    - Some of the openings in the I-beans for the wires didn't appear to be rolled
    - It would be nice if there were supports going front to back to support the floor between the side to side supports, it's always been a weak spot for laminated floors and causes a ton of flex after a couple of years.

Either that factory has been staged, or it is legitimately the cleanest RV assembly line I have ever seen. I’m going to hope that it’s the latter. If so, they really do take pride like you said.
I hear you on the wire slack. I’ve had to replace a few things already on my 2021 camper of a different brand. One of the outlets I replaced didn’t have an inch of spare wiring. I had to WORK just to get the old outlet out. So kudos to them on spending an extra $5 on wiring to make sure there is relief.

Congratulations! They were a brand I knew nothing about. When they came into the marketplace I was still working for my family's independent store.
We didn't carry them and from a distance they just kinda looked like everything else. I hear weird stuff like "non-ducted A/C units" and my "what the what?!" alarms went off
But as a practice I try not to judge things until I'm better educated on them. They were kind enough to allow me into their facebook group. I simply wanted to observe what REAL owners thought about them.
I noticed a trend.. an owner might report a problem on their RV. But like clockwork 24-48hrs later I saw them posting how happy they were about how Alliance stepped up to take care of them. And I saw positive endings like that time after time again. I saw how people were so proud of their Alliance RV & the community they shared.
I knew then there had to be SOMETHING special going on here.
But weirdly despite my time in this business I had never had a chance to really meet anyone from Alliance. I knew a couple guys there, but never really got to meet Alliance "up close" until I did this factory tour.
What I saw really elevated them HIGHLY in my eyes. I was already liking what I saw from their products. But the care and concern they had for PEOPLE -- _anybody_ really whether it was owners or workers -- really impressed me.

As to Alliance RV, I'm sold! The attention to detail and quality control at every stage of the manufacturing process and the quality of materials used; couple that with the thoughtfulness and intelligence evidenced in every step of the RV's development--well Alliance reigns supreme and sets the bar VERY HIGH for every other RV manufacturer out there. Right now, I see no competition. Alliance is in a league of its own.

An avenue and a cougar overlap pretty darn heavily so it’s really just a matter which specific little details speak to you a little more loudly.

@@brianc.jackson9965 After owning both I can tell you its not even close. Alliance Avenue over a Cougar ANY DAY. So many better features over the Cougar. PVC roof, Flush floor slides, flush upper deck, taller slide boxes, dual AC in every unit and its 6" wider which really makes a big difference inside to give you thigs like 3 person couch, more storage.

As engineers, we can appreciate all the improvements that Alliance has done that are "hidden" and not readily seen by the consumer. The structural upgrades, the design for reliability and even the thought behind the maintainability of the trailer is fantastic and displays great systems engineering practices! I had to do many of those modifications myself to our current fifth wheel.

I and my wife really like the factory tour and all details on things you can't see normally. Like the composite floors and the double Azdel walls and the additional trusses in the roof. I like the PVC roof material and the ease of maintenance and the ability to patch the roof with basic PVC glue. As far as the solar package goes we are okay with it being optional, not every one may want the solar package and if they do it can still be added. The avenue all access is one of the RV'S we have been looking at as our next RV when retire. We like having the electric fireplace in our current RV. I realize that with smaller RV's that is not always possible. Maybe they could use an AC unit with a heat pump in it like they do in some other models like Airstream or Montana as an alternative. Even if they opted not to add a heat pump we are really thinking of going with alliance as our next RV. thanks so much for the factory tour and all the effort that goes into making that happen and to the alliance team for everything they do and taking the extra time for the video. I hope this is not to long winded and thanks again.

I own an Alliance Avenue 32 RLS and its one of the best I have owned. I did have a few issues with the coach ,but Alliance has been great in resolving them. I did take the factory tour and met many of the workers on the line. Speaking with them one on one , they all stated they loved working for Alliance. They are the best in customer service and dedicated to their customers. The Alliance owners community is a tight knit bunch of great people always willing to help one another.

Thanks for the tour. One thing I've noticed is unlike some of the other manufacturer factory tours I've seen this factory looks very clean. I also see even with the units in progress there isn't a lot of construction debris being left hanging around the trailers. If this is their normal way of doing things it gives me more confidence as a sloppy environment tends to result in a sloppy product. If I had watched more I would have heard you say the same thing.
Stuffing the aluminum extrusions with wood isn't just to keep them from compressing. The screw holding power of 1/16 inch or less aluminum is not very much when twisting and turning down the road. The wood allows for better grip of the screws due to more threads being in contact with it.
In this day and age I think most any trailer should come with at least a 200W panel, have a decent quality MPPT controller and come with a 200AH battery. For folks who might not want that allow them to option it out for a credit.
The extra wiring length also helps when you have to repair something. There is nothing I hate more than removing a device from a panel and having to hold and balance it while using my other hand to disconnect wires because they cheaped out and didn't make the wires 3 inches longer to set the device on the counter. It is especially frustrating if you have to work on or behind the converter.
I like natural wood color of the trim.
I am really looking forward to seeing their travel trailers.

Love these type of floor plans, but normally longer than wanted. This one is great! BUT, I see a few things. Bar is too small to use, so put cabinets under it. A Murphy bed setup in the bed slide would move the couch and let you put a table, chair dining next to the fridge. Also loose the double sink for a double closet. Murphy bed would also give bathroom access in road mode. You rock Josh! Love your informational, charismatic videos. Keep it up!

I’ve got nothing fundamentally against Thor, Winnebago, or Forest River, but I really do like seeing smaller manufacturers in the game as well. I own an Outdoors RV and apart from just being a very high quality unit, it is one of the other independents out there and it’s something I really like about it. I would love to see a darker wood option on these, and if I was really nitpicking I wish the All Access models offered a bedroom slide, because it’s silly trying to lower the hitch weight when everybody’s towing them with 3/4 ton anyway, and that extra couple hundred pounds is irrelevant for those. Very nice products though.

Josh, I've been watching your videos for a couple of months, and I have to say that on the surface, you seem to be an honest, principled person. I like how you don't push products, but lay out the facts about them, and the RV industry as a whole.
When I say, "on the surface," I refer to the talk the talk, but don't walk the talk type of salesperson. It's probably because I'm old and cynical, because I've experienced all types over my many years. My gut says you're the real thing, and that's what I'll go with, until proven different.
Having said all of that, I'd like you to address the situation of mega dealers, the lack of moral principles, and ignoring the customer after the sale. There are numerous people who advise against buying from mega dealers for these reasons. Since Bish's is expanding all over the country, how do you address these warnings?
Also, if you could address the problem of buying from one location of a dealer, and taking the unit to another location of the same dealer, and being refused service, because you didn't buy it there?
Can you explain why RV manufacturers use wood trusses on the roof, as opposed to aluminum, which would save a lot of weight?
In closing, thank you for your videos and for doing this one. I've been watching Alliance for awhile now, and I've been impressed, which is not an easy thing to do.
Keep up the good work, and stay true to the right principles. To borrow from Alliance, continue to do the right thing.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Рік тому +1

      Hi John! Great questions here.
*I'd like you to address the situation of mega dealers, the lack of moral principles, and ignoring the customer after the sale.*
There are fundamental flaws on the service side of the industry that have been there for years but were exposed to a painful degree during the pandemic-infused phase of the industry we're coming off of currently. While there are no doubt plenty of cases of dealerships basically brushing off customers who just made purchases & in need of service there are frankly just as many cases of dealerships who genuinely wanted and tried to assist clients who were let down by the lack of internal industry support from MFGs and suppliers.
A more even pace in the industry can help this but after the past couple of years there is a lot of healing to be done and it's not happening quickly enough for anyone's liking.
And more real talk: Bish's isn't perfect. I wish we were. But we're not. And my family's dealership I worked for before this also was not perfect. Again.. we tried. But it's often a case of doing the best we can given the resources available to us.
There is a painfully low level of training generally offered to the average service staff member across the nation I fear. I applaud groups like the NRVTI for their work and hope to see that continue to grow.
*Also, if you could address the problem of buying from one location of a dealer, and taking the unit to another location of the same dealer, and being refused service, because you didn't buy it there?*
This is a very real thing and it's been one of my biggest frustrations since day 1. Again, it stems back to the flawed internal side of the industry. It's less expensive for a MFG to send something with a defect to a dealership & pay them to fix it via warranty because MFGs dont actually pay what it costs to complete warranty work typically. They might compensate a store for the time of the actual job but not for all the time spent moving RVs in the shop, diagnosing, moving back out... clerical work trying to get them to approve anything (which is often met with tons of resistance), moving the unit back in, doing the work, moving it out, more clerical work, and hopefully finally a completed job and customer pickup... which usually requires more yard lot porter time.
....so.... if a dealership isn't making money doing the work for a client that didn't purchase there, then there's not a lot of incentive for them to step up and complete the job. It's a mess. I greatly dislike it.
*Can you explain why RV manufacturers use wood trusses on the roof, as opposed to aluminum, which would save a lot of weight?*
Reasons can vary. Cost is a major one. Insulation gaps in a ceiling structure is another since wood is a better insulator vs. hollow aluminum tubing. And typically there's not enough weight savings with aluminum trusses to actually change a potential tow vehicle.
I hope you appreciate the candor. This is what my experience has shown me. Answers from other may vary naturally.

    • @johnp6396
      @johnp6396 Рік тому +1

Josh, thank you for your quick response and your candor.
So, if I buy an RV from Bishs in Longview Texas, and need service from another Bish's location, what can I expect?
If I want to buy a certain model from the Longview Bish's, and they don't have that model in stock, can it be shipped from another location.
I've heard some talk lately about issues that have cropped up with Grand Design. Can you address, (without getting into trouble with GD), what those might be?
What is your opinion on having a true franchise agreement, like the ones in the auto industry, between RV dealers, and the manufacturers?
      Thanks again,
      John
