FlyByWire A32nx | Holding Patterns | Tutorial

- In this video we take a look at the HOLD feature in the FlyByWire A32nx for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Holds are useful for flying online in busy airspaces or large events where traffic volumes require ATC to have aircraft in a holding pattern in order to control traffic flow into the airport, they are also used to delay an arrival if bad weather is passing the airport or the runway is temporarily closed.
We look at a few examples of a holding pattern on the chart and then we program the MCDU and fly a few examples.

Thanks this vid came in clutch during ORD event
Thank you for this and other videos (like the printer video). As a non-pro Simmer, your videos are answering the more advanced stuff I would like to understand to fly more realistically, I appreciate it!
Comprehensive and clear hold tutorial.thanks for sharing
thanks so much this was a mystery to me
Excellent, very clear. Helps a lot. Many thanks.
very very very very clear. Many thanks !!
Nice Thanks for this!
Well explained...support you from India 🇮🇳
Great video you explain it clearly.
amazing! work great ! good work!
thank's
Love your videos man really helped me learn the A32NX. Any plans on doing a tutorial for missed approaches?
Hi! great video.
What are your PC and monitor specs?
And what graphics settings do you run?
Very useful, thanks. How would you execute an *immediate* hold?
I learn alot from you! And the subject here is very valuable i believe :)
I wonder, If I wanted to use this function, can I "create a teardrop " procedure turn for an ILS the has opposite course to my path. That is, i am flying @ 270 degrees passing the airport and want to land on rwy 08. So i had a NDB way ahed in the final path for 08 as a fix in my fpl. I tyried to use this technique to get a teardrop procedure to put me in line with the runway.
Sorry for how i described it, but maybe you understand anyway!
Thanks, David.
Great tutorial thanks. 👍👍 Unrelated question, on the Experimental I often get a hook shape on the STAR which moves as I approach the arrival airport. Have you had this at all. My STAR seems perfectly valid. Not sure why or if it's a bug?
I saw it once but it was on the SID. I had a duplicate waypoint in the flight plan. It disappeared after deleting the second waypoint. Not sure if it's that.
@@RealSimPilot Yeah, I've seen that myself and had duplicate like you say, but couldn't work out why the STAR was hooked. No worries. Thanks for the input.
How do you find the charts that have the informatiomn for the holding points on them? I'm specifically looking at KPHX charts right now. Also, how do you set up the hold if there is a distance stated on the chart? Does the plane compute that automatically?
When i try to remove the hold it says " not allwoed in nav" how do i fix this
Does this work on the standard A320 neo?
No unfortunately not.
I need some help, i have installed A32nx in my MSFS 2020, but the autopilot is not working, and the buttons doesn't show the up and down arrow to engage or disengage the autopilot commands....do you guys faced such issue, any hints ..?
Go to general options-accessibility-cockpit interaction system-set it to legacy. That will give you the up and down arrows.
@@RealSimPilot Thank you so much!!!...it really worked and made my day. One more thing, how can i fly together with other Vatsim pilots e.g. as their first officer, is it possible in MSFS 2020....can i have your messenger, i have some questions while flying.....is there a better way to find taxi-ways...i am most of the time lost when taxiing in and out of airports....any helps are appreciated...
There is an add on for shared cockpit but I have not used it. I would recommend navigraph for your charts to find taxiways etc.
is thie development or stable??
Experimental.
@@RealSimPilot is it in developmwnt too??
@@morsbeth7281 not yet.
@@RealSimPilot is thare lots of buss? Or is it working good?
It's working fine I've had no issues.
last entry is parallel not tear drop, thanks
how come parallel, he is entering from opposite direction ...it is a tear drop...
@@mabob12 it is parallel.
Teardrop after flying the waypoint he should fly 30° to the right for 1min then turn left inbound and fly the pattern.
Parallel he should fly 1min parallel the inbound (in opposite direction) and turn right to intercept the inbound. In this case this is what he is doing.
Yes last entry is parallel and not teardrop!
