    Ana is playing Astaurias, a classical piece originating from NW region of Spain, adopting a a more lively and vivacious style. If you close your eyes for a minute and allow the music to carry you forward, you will believe that you're listening to two separate guitarists playing this beautiful song together. That's the magic of a great guitarist playing this melodious piece.

    The way this woman play her instrument transport her listeners to that dimension of total musicality that only an expert can do with intrinsic command of that moment in time and space. It's wonderful to listen and watch her play her guitar. Thank you for sharing.

    Ana makes it look easy but it takes strong nerves to nail the dynamics and keep the right hand patterns flawless. People who don't play usually think all the difficulty is in the left hand but it's more often the opposite. Esp with finger style playing. It's SO easy for one of your right hand digits to slightly miss their mark and hit the string too hard or too soft or just miss the string altogether(esp when playing soft). It takes great focus(ADD sufferers need not apply) and endless hours of practicing with consistency. Confidence is your best friend and nervousness(fear) is your enemy. Ana may be sweet and soft spoken but you can see in her eyes she's a confident person(and a very confident player!)

    RE: The Sound.
    I was in the 2nd row maybe, and it was just amazing. Just remembering it still gives me chills.
    I think the video folks pulled the sound from the amp and dubbed it over, when what they probably should have done was setup a mic array about 20 feet back and grab the richness of the acoustic sound.

    • @sanchezfilmproject9703
      @sanchezfilmproject9703 6 років тому +2

      The sound is terrible for an acoustic instrument ..... I am sure it sounded amazing from where you was seating ... But no reverb at all in such a massive auditorium ..?

    • @kenhorn4405
      @kenhorn4405 2 роки тому

      @@sanchezfilmproject9703 It looks like the guitar has an internal microphone (you can see it is plugged in). So no natural reverb and some unpleasant string noise (although she is an excellent player and keeps this to a minimum)

    I listen to Indian Clasical music all my life and at the same time I take a lot of interest in clasical guitar music and I have been listening to Ana for a long time and in my opinion I find her a very stuborn mimned lady who is always looking for a 1/2 notch improvement. When I listen to indian clasical, I can tell straight away if the player I am listening is any good.Listening to Ana, I can tell she is not just good but damn good, just listen to her plucking of the first 5 cord and you know she is very special, thanks Ana, I can fall a sleep in your plucking.

    You people who are nit picking might want to consider the venue and what opportunities were available as far as sound. Do you somehow think that every musician carries a concert hall and all of the necessary equipment around in their back pocket? I'm sure she's doing the best she can under the circumstances.

    for anyone talking about the quality of the sound its not the fault of the guitar, the audio file in the video wasnt uploaded correctly. The guitar she is using is a 60k Gregg Smallman.

    • @eltrav7151
      @eltrav7151 6 років тому

      The reason is the audio is a dry is due to the audio being a direct soundboard recording, and it's not utulizing any room mics or natural reverb from the room itself, so you hearing only the onboard dry pick up tone only, just as she is playing - like direct from the guitars p/u.

  • @eltrav7151
    @eltrav7151 6 років тому +1

    I agree it sounds dry and brittle, but the reason is the audio is a dry is due to the audio being a direct soundboard recording, and it's not utilizing any room mics or natural reverb from the room itself, so you hearing only the on-board dry pick up tone, just as she is playing - like direct from the guitars p/u. In my opinion a traditional instrument would of been better suited this situation, but she plays a super loud dry Redgate - that is her instrument.
    In regards to her Anyone who questions her technical playing, subtly of interpretation need only list to her Torroba album, where she out plays Segovia, Parkening, and 'almost' Mr.Bream...incredible recording.

    Let’s also consider the positive aspects of a direct feed from the Piezo pick up in the bridge of the guitar. For one, you don’t have to worry about coughs and audience noise. ( and everyone is always complaining about that) Secondly, the sound is right there in your ears. Very clear and up close. Like your ear is an inch from the guitar. This is the only recording of Ana using this recording technique, so it is interesting to hear. The major downside is the string noise when her left hand shifts position. Overall I love her sound. She is the greatest guitarist I have ever heard. ☀️🌷☀️🌷

    she is one of the most beautiful and talented players I've ever heard, the recording quality is not worthy of her talent, from experience a sound system can either make you sound grate or make you sound horrible, but I agree classical guitar should not be run through a sound system were you add effects to it. the true tone of a classical guitar is beautiful by itself.

    This is an electric guitar. They probably chose this method for the recording to eliminate any crowd noise or extraneous disturbance in the hall. Classical guitar is a relatively quiet instrument and you can never predict the respect or appreciation of an audience toward this kind of performance.
